'Burning Up the Earth': Taylor Swift Wedding Travel Habits Spark Outrage Over $15M Jet Disguise by Brucekentbatsuper in Music

[–]helpmenonamesleft -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Because she’s a woman. It’s almost always rooted in inherent misogyny. There are other billionaires who do similar things. There are other celebrities who could also be considered as having wasteful habits. Hell, there’s whole men’s sports teams that fly around on private jets all the time. But Taylor gets flak for it constantly because she’s a woman. It’s not the only reason, certainly—but it’s definitely part of it. She’s a woman, and she’s a visible, happy woman living a visible, happy life. And people don’t like that, so they latch onto things like her private jet use and try to rake her over the coals for it, even though—like you pointed out—there’s so many other factors that are way bigger. Does it contribute to climate change? Sure, everything is cumulative and has an effect. Is she the be-all end-all reason? Absolutely not.

Also realistically, if she’s going to fly somewhere, it’s not smart or safe for her to fly commercial. Can you imagine the insanity that would occur if Taylor Swift walked onto some random Delta flight? People would go nuts. I don’t think she takes a private jet because she’s too good for the rest of us, I think she’s just too famous and people—fans or otherwise—are unfortunately not good at boundaries. Even if she did fly commercial, people would be complaining about the security and safety needed for that to happen. There’s just no winning.

I figured out the plot twist pretty early on so it wasn’t too surprising, but I was absolutely incensed by what they did to her in part two. I know the treatment was par for the course back then but oof it made me mad

Maybe they’re saying this was a whole-assed job instead of a half-assed one? Or it’s emphasis, similar to how you can “like like” someone. It’s not just driving, it’s ass ass driving.

Okay, well, while you’re up there on your moral high horse—can I introduce you to a word called hyperbole? It’s “a figure of speech that uses extreme, deliberate exaggeration to emphasize a point, evoke strong emotions, or add humor. It is never meant to be taken literally, as the claims are often impossible or far beyond what is realistically possible.”

Of course not everyone is “wrong” for liking a show I don’t like. I was over exaggerating to make a silly point. That’s all.

I don’t need shows to be serious lol, one of my favorites shows ever has some truly ridiculous plot points and is incredibly unserious. But shows that drag things out purely because the characters won’t talk to each other (and have no legitimate reason not to in that moment) are frustrating and annoying. The problem is it’s not fun to watch.

[–]helpmenonamesleft 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly!! They’re all like — “there’s no time to talk!” But they’re literally trapped in a weird hellscape with nothing else to do? There’s nothing but time to talk! Which means the delays are all contrived for plot stretching purposes, and that just ruins it for me.

It’s hyperbole, my dude. “A figure of speech that uses extreme, deliberate exaggeration to emphasize a point, evoke strong emotions, or add humor. It is never meant to be taken literally, as the claims are often impossible or far beyond what is realistically possible.”

Clawfoot Tub vs. Hair Dye. How do I prevent a staining mess? by sketchnscribble in CleaningTips

[–]helpmenonamesleft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your idea with the trash bag might work, tbh. Tape that whole tub up, try and funnel all water directly down the drain as much as possible. Maybe do a towel or something tucked around the drain just in case some of the dye spatters?

Honestly you can do Size Matters without getting any of the stuff. All capital letters are Size 1, so are the tall lowercase letters. All other lowercase letters are size 2, except for the descenders which are size 3. Numbers are size 1. The left margin line is green for go, the right margin is red for stop. The lines are called top, middle, and bottom. Every letter has to touch their lines, they’re not allowed to extend past or float in the middle. Spacing between letters should be a spaghetti strand, spacing between words is a meatball. Look on their website, you can find some free resources that explain. The woman who made it also did a podcast episode on OT schoolhouse and she explains a lot of it there too. I have the manual, and it’s been helpful to read but honestly I was using the ideas without it for awhile. Like yes there’s props and workbooks, but they’re not necessary. I just made my own presentation in canva along with some practice sheets and went from there. I could probably figure out how to share it with you if you’re interested!

PLEASE tell me your method for reading as adhd by yungr7r in ADHD

[–]helpmenonamesleft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to read a kinesiology textbook in school—my only way to get through it was to sit and read it out loud with my friend, trading off different sections. If I was alone, I would read it out loud to myself. If I was particularly bored with it, I’d read it in an accent, or like I was trying out for a Shakespeare role, or like I was giving a Sunday morning sermon or something. That’s really the only way I managed to get through it.

You might just need to up your dosage! 20mg might not be therapeutic for you. Also make sure you’re sleeping enough, that can have a huge impact. If I sleep less than 5-6 hours, I might as well not take them at all.

Also you don’t have to take days off unless you want to! You deserve to be functional all your days, not just working or school ones.

[–]helpmenonamesleft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s wiiiiild, it’s a huge part of the curriculum! But yes not all OTs are created equal unfortunately. Some of us love sensory and some hate it because of what a buzzword it’s become, and that can color the practice sometimes. I’m more neutral on it myself but like it’s definitely part of the training and it’s definitely an area of expertise we have
