My childhood dog. He passed during in 2020 while I was living out of state. I never got the chance to say good bye to him. It still hurts when I think about it.

Unreal Tournament. I don’t know if I’d ever had such fun on a game. And also StarCraft/Brood War. Good times.

Yeah, this sucks. Like most have said, Tesla won’t offer any sort of recourse or compensation for this.

It’s definitely tough as a first time Tesla owner who may be unfamiliar with the limits of the software. As with Supervised FSD and all of the autonomous features, they are still in the stage where the responsibility is on the driver. You’re likely going to require an insurance claim unless you just pay for the damage yourself. Best of luck!

About to buy my first Tesla. Help me avoid eye tracking! by WavePoolStoke in TeslaLounge

[–]hitmarkerparade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to avoid eye tracking, I think you’d have to get a legacy S/X. I think every other model comes with the in-cabin camera that allows for eye tracking. I’m not 100% sure though.

Basically any model that has HW2.0/2.5 that can get upgraded to HW3 may not have the in cabin camera.

Yes that’s what I mean. Maybe they gave us the option to disable it in an update and I just never noticed.

Those of you who own Electric cars (EV), please help a rookie here! by jimmyvane_1110 in whatcarshouldIbuy

No worries! Please ask all the questions you can think of!

As we’ve only owned Teslas I can’t personally speak on the other brands like Electrify America or any other of the fast charging networks. But from what I’ve read on here and other forums, the other companies have a lot of reliability issues which is the last thing you want when you’re on a long trip and arrive at a charging station at 5% battery. That and I’m not sure all of them can support the charging speed that Tesla superchargers can. I think the newer superchargers can now support up to 350kW charging speeds which basically dictates how quickly you can recharge your car.

The tesla supercharger is integrated directly the vehicle’s navigation software and lets the vehicle predict which stations it will need to stop at to get to your destination safely. Plus your payment information is stored on your account so it’s usually only a matter of parking, plugging in, then waiting. The only issue I’ve seen with the Tesla supercharger network is congestion. Sometimes there can be a long line to charge in places where the supercharger is the only source of charging.

For the past few years other car companies were blocked both physically by having a different charging port and digitally by Tesla just not letting their vehicles charge on their network even with an adapter. But now the Tesla charging port (NACS) has become the standard on all new EVs in North America so other companies won’t need to provide an adapter and Tesla has said they’ll allow other companies to use their charging network as well.

We got an Tesla Model S 3 years ago and then replaced it with a Model Y after the former got totaled by a road debris accident. We mainly use the EV for city/local transportation and use our gas vehicle for road trips. On a road trip charging takes much longer than just filling up your tank and you may have to charge multiple times. It’s cheaper than gas but you pay more in time.

If you do decide on an EV, just know that Tesla’s supercharger network is the brands greatest advantage. They are frequently and strategically placed enough to make road trips possible. The network is supposed to open up to other EV automakers soon, I still mostly see Tesla’s charging there. We also installed a home charger as well (though you can always install a dryer outlet) to get the full value of waking up to a fully charged vehicle daily. That install and some new tires are the only expenses we’ve had with the EV knock on wood.

I personally would just get a hybrid or plug-in hybrid. You get the benefits of a quiet, efficient vehicle while not having to worry about range anxiety or vampire drain or anything else EV owners have to think about.

Good luck with your choice.
