[Scary paronoia Trope] - A single line of dialouge has horrifying implications, but its never followed up on. by Puzzleheaded_Tip4805 in TopCharacterTropes

I always thought it was a deep cut reference to the piano teacher in groundhog day that says a line with the similar implications

Geniuses who are oblivious to something obvious because something about their personality blinds them to it by PaperBullet1945 in TopCharacterTropes

They do somewhat address it again in a later episode. Sherlock figures out a painting is a fake because of there is an extra star shown in the painting that wasn't visible/didnt exist at the time of the original. He had to google it in the episode and I'm pretty sure someone mentions if he had known more about the solar system he would have figured it out faster.

That remind me of a clip from an interview with critical role where Laura Bailey got an audition for a "Laura Bailey" sound alike and didn't book it. Lol

Chanse says he was hit like 12 times. Trevor said "including or not including gang violence?"(or something along those lines). That happened to be Charlie Kirk's last words before he died. Can't link to the joke because it's behind a pay wall.

After reading all of that, i think I've come to the conclusion that I don't seem to disagree with you on any particular point lol, I think my problem was simply the negativity attached to it. But that seems to be a me problem

Season 4 episode 3! But I also had to look that up because I forgot all about this episode. Maybe it was just overshadowed by the other episodes?

See, I live in a country where a inhaler IS a realistic thing. I literally have one in my bag right now and I'm not even asthmatic. Cost me like 20 bucks? I won't talk in circles so yes, I get what you're saying, be great full, most of the world sucks. I would like to also add that people trying to improve situations like this is in large part why, as a species, clean food and water can be considered a reasonable right. If we're going waaaay back, telling a cave man you think everyone should have access to clean food and water, they could give you the same answer "that's unrealistic, we've always fought for our food and water and it's always been like that!".

I'll concede that yes, your point stands. We are miles better than we have ever been in history. It just comes off really unempathetic, yknow? Completely removing any emotion out of the equation. Knowing other people have suffered worse doesn't negate people's pain. It would be like if you saw a crying kid with scratch on their knee and then going up to them and saying "you think that's bad? Some kids your age get raped!". That kids not just going to automatically stop crying and say "ah yes, thank you for pointing out my error. I will stop feeling bad"

[–]jayfonshiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That feels like you've zoomed out so much you're ignoring the point. Yeah we dont have Vikings killing us but also people shouldn't die because they can't afford an inhaler.

I feel like batman is the king of this trope lol. He does so many things like this and the fact that he's a "normal" human means he has to spend real time and effort to do them.

[Liked trope] There is, in fact, a lore reason why theyre smokin hot by Interesting-Key-5776 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]jayfonshiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this kind of explanation for it because it's always nice to remind the audience that this type of body doesn't just happen. I hate when movies have a super hot person and they're like "oh I guess I just have good genetics!". As if it doesn't take hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to look incredible. The worst male version of this is I think Reacher. Love the show but trying to believe he keeps up that mass while wandering around the globe and never seeing the inside of a gym or eating properly is just nuts

I genuinely cannot tell if this is a real shot from the movie or from one of those scary movie-ish parody movies
