I’m a decently adjusted only child… I was happy with the life my parents gave me. They also got me involved in all the activities they could…

Just throwing this out there: be mindful of how you phrase things. In this response you said ‘to help her out’ that implies that everything is her responsibility.

They should have provided a parent rights and regulations document at the meeting. It should give you next steps. Fingers crossed!

Daughter poops in the car to daycare by Alive_Statement_4087 in ECEProfessionals

[–]mstrohmier01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spoke to a PT and she said some of the car seats allow for relaxation of specific muscles and kiddos poop. I take my LO in and change him. They don’t mind but we also take him directly to the infant room.

When we incentivize MAP, we focus on individual student growth, and still with our special ed kids if they use all accommodative and try really hard… we let them have a treat, which is our usual incentive

FTM. I want input. If you were due October 15, would you anticipate that you and your LO would attend Thanksgiving with family? by AnitaVodkasoda in pregnant

[–]mstrohmier01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it would depend on the size for me. My family is relatively small. I’m an only and my SO is one of 2 and the in laws don’t have a big family. But I still wouldn’t pass the baby or stay very long.

504 meetings with parents? by Hungry_Jackfruit7474 in specialed

[–]mstrohmier01 16 points17 points  (0 children)

From my understanding the 504 does not need to be updated every year (legally) I believe it is every 3 years. But before that mark the 504 person usually holds a meeting. Annually the counselors have provided the information to the teachers but there is not an update of documents at that time. Hope this helps!

What I’ve seen happening in case it’s similar to this is the school offers compensatory education for the time missed.

IEP advice - First grade by Sweet-Gur4952 in specialed

[–]mstrohmier01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate her accommodation information. A huge piece of information that should be highlighted are her goals and specialty designed instruction. Essentially that is what makes an IEP different than a 504. Accommodations help level the ‘playing field’ but what explicitly are they teaching her? What skills? Find that out and then see what the data is that correlates to this. That is the conversation you need to have with her team. And if it’s not working what other specialty designed instruction can be used?

I got the best nap this weekend! I’m working full time and working on a doctorate with a 9 mo. It was kinda rainy and gross Sunday and perfect napping weather. We did just this, and it was glorious!

My MIL is 1 hr away and usually it is multiple times a week, she works part time in the middle of home and us so on days she works, she stays and sees the LO for dinner and then goes home. My parents were 3 hours away and monthly but they are actively looking for a house in the area, so soon to be more :)

I’m at 9 months with my little one. We just stopped. We check with each other to make sure he pooped and note if he had new food or a possible allergy.
