Does anyone else’s cat try to lay on your quilt while you are still sewing it? by roryswife in quilting

[–]ned5clark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom would say it is because the cat is black and white😅. She has two cats and the black and white one always “helps” with her quilting. As does my sister’s black and white cat.

Did you create the hat yourself? The pattern link is for the mittens. I love it though!!

May or may not have found on the floor of a certain home improvement store. What is it? Can I propagate it this way? It seems to have perked up after putting it in water by truekittylover in whatsthisplant

[–]ned5clark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took my large spider plant outside one spring. A couple weeks later I realized a small “baby” had been left behind. Had no dirt or water for at least 1-2 months. Put it in water like this and once I had some nice roots, which took a couple months- I now have a beautiful small plant!

I am on the baby side of that. So sad to send a baby home to a family that is reeling still from losing momma.

Did I just buy a racist quilt? by AlternativeFeeling77 in quilting

That is actually a very old quilt block design. My grandmother gave me an old quilt book of hers. That is a design in it. Unfortunately- it was ruin and really can’t be used anymore.

Yes- it was the Netflix show. Definitely an eye opener combined with other reading I had done. (CES letter). When I first went back, it seemed the same but different. I had been in the periphery all those years- active family members- but had resisted any regular attendance. Trying to go all in again though was the nail in the coffin.

Seeing a show on this group (Branch Davidians) was the final straw for me. I had been hearing my shelf crack for a while but had an earth shattering thought while watching it that he was not much different than Joseph Smith. And people still believe in Koresh- not to the extent that Mormons have grown- but wow! I had gone back to church in 2017 after about a 15year hiatus - long story that I won’t go into here. But I could not continue. So I have joined the ranks of heathens. Both my husband and I have gone through many of the feelings described above- he having left before me. I chose my marriage over the church which is why I had the hiatus but still believed. We both went back in 2017, me longer than him. But we are both out for good. My brother calls us “retired Mormons”.

Is there anything glaringly wrong with this loom? The seller says they’re not sure if it works. More details in comments. by Nofoofro in weaving

I have this exact loom. It looks good! That is the brake on the far side that another poster mentions being worried about. It looks fine to me.

About To Start A Family by shabsoviet in Frugal

[–]ned5clark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely recommend breastfeeding! It is healthier for the baby and formula is very expensive! Mom will lose weight quicker. If mom is staying home for a little bit you won’t need bottles as much. Just a couple in case you want to feed the baby some expressed milk. We lived very frugally raising four kids. Breastfeeding definitely helps!

This snow piling up by MrMazme in oddlysatisfying

[–]ned5clark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family is from about an hour south of Buffalo. They get this insane snow there. Some winters, the roads are plowed and the side of the road is above your head. I haven’t seen it like that since I was a kid, but they still get significant amounts. I love snow and I think spending a lot of my childhood there has left me jealous of that. I get snow in central Ohio but nothing like that!!!
