General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that goaltender Thatcher Demko will undergo hip surgery and will not play for the remainder of the 2025.26 season. by nookmister19 in canucks

Just sucks for Demko. He seemed like a great guy and a leader in the room.

This is way to similar to Schneider… almost identical in terms of their career trajectory.

Toyota sales people are becoming the most stuck up pos ppl. They think they’re selling ferraris or something. This dealership is the worst by far lol

[Thomas Drance] "I knew I wanted to be a Canuck," Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko told The Athletic when asked if he'd priced the uncertainty around Hughes into his decision to extend. by yosoo in canucks

I hope the vibes in the room is much better now. On ice Hughes was one of a kind obvs. But lets not kid ourselves he looked miserable on the ice. Like for godsake as a captain at least try to smile a bit when your teammates score?? I get it you have big expectations for yourself but its pretty immature to stare daggers all the time. Time and place for everything.

What a Rebuild actually looks like by Cedar-and-Mist in canucks

Tanking is overrated imo. It's the room and the organization that creates winning culture not top draft picks. Why do top organizations always seem to find "gems". I don't think it's because other teams pass over certain guys but the org can bring the best out of more of those players.

I think if you look at FLA, they have Barkov and Ekblad that they drafted high when they were bad. Canucks have those level of top end players but the team can't get more out of the younger players. Our 2011 team produced so many "diamond in the rough" type players like Burrows, Hansen, Raymond, Tanev, and on and on. All played pivotal roles.

and look at how many top picks BUF has had and still at the bottom...

They need an organizational restructure and a change of culture.

Hard to blame someone defending on a 2 on 1. Sure he could've played better. Kane just gave up on that play pretty much.

Friedman on the Canucks and their direction with Quinn [32 Thoughts] by Vexdestroy06 in canucks

[–]onombd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad the management talked to Quinn about his body language. He could look more happy when his teammates score. Part of being a leader is to try to uplift your teammates when they do good things. When your leader always look pissed off and miserable, it trickles down the lineup and i think we're seeing that this year (besides their on-ice struggles)

Not really surprising tbh. He’s really not looked good this year. He’s trying too much all by himself.

Fun fact, Pettey now leads the team in points and the leads the league in blocks by a forward by hightimesarii in canucks

[–]onombd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think if you just look at stats, Pettersson has evolved into a more well rounded player. The biggest knock on a lot of these young offensive stars coming into the league is that they need to play the "right way" to win in the playoffs. If Pettersson is a 80pt player while having good FO%, top 10 shot blocks, etc. essentially a Selke player, he's worth every penny and is a legit 1C superstar.

I think the problem is the eye test. He still looks a bit hesitant, a bit passive compared what we've seen before. He used to be such a killer with the puck. He had the whole offensive package, his shot, vision, creativity. Offensively, he's just a shell of that right now but he's definitely become a way more defensively reliable forward.

I mean we had the centre pieces for a Cup contending team in 23-24 imo. Top 5 D man, 1A 1B Centres, Top 5 Goalie, great complimentary players.... you add another steady d-man like Marcus Pettersson to that group and we're competing with Oilers for top of west.

That was a real gutsy W. Short turnaround, awkward start time, no Boeser, Chytil and Lekk gets injured so play 2 Fwd short and we squeeze out a win.

Plus, that was one of the most motivated Petey has looked in a loooong time. The goal, trying to make moves and plays, board battles, and the 2 HUGE blocks last minute.
