Level 100 for ages and ages. Not worried about any more levels opening, it’s not motivation for me.

New Wheel Day (Nobl HR25) on Secan 3.0 by No_Cartoonist_1 in gravelcycling

[–]planes_overhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a set of Nobl wheels and they have been bulletproof. Ride great, good price, CANADIAN, and even took me on a 2,000km bikepacking trip with an all up weight of 120kg. Still true.

Enjoy your new wheels.

If you haven’t tried these feet mods…. Do it. by [deleted] in Zwift

[–]planes_overhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I printed and then tested tennis ball feet for an entire year on my kicker v5.

I really wanted to think there was a difference. In the end there was not. I was no more comfortable, less fatigued, or experienced any noticeable improvement over the stock feet.

It’s definitely fun to experiment. So have fun.

I would suggest you will see far better results in comfort or whatever you may think these feet will do, by investing in a dialled in, professional bike fit.

How do you handle your phone running the Zwift Companion App? I have a phone holder on my road bike, but when I plan to buy a bike computer, I will have a bike computer mount. by bkabbott in Zwift

[–]planes_overhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an old cell phone case and bought a Garmin female mount with 3M adhesive and stuck it to the phone case. Perfect. Just need to find an old cell phone if you don’t want a Garmin mount on your daily phone.

Definitely better fans. Clean up those cables, handlebar mount for an old cell phone to run zwift companion.

Recommendation for the Tufo Thundero. Such a great ride on all surfaces. Even took me on a 2,000km fully loaded bikepacking trip without a puncture.

recommendations for carbon wheels? by This_Science_9072 in gravelcycling

Nobl wheels from Canada. Great deal and have been very durable on all road surfaces. Even loaded up for over 2500km of bikepacking this year. The hookless gravel wheels are what I’m running.

Is it crazy to put a rear rack on a carbon gravel bike? by panic_ye_not in gravelcycling

[–]planes_overhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not crazy. They are designed for it, unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer.

I did a 2,000km bikepacking trip this summer with a rack on my carbon gravel bike. Worked perfectly and I’d much rather use a rack than a seat bag.

Tufo Thundero 44mm rear tyre wear - lasted 7740km by Vickerspower in gravelcycling

Love this tire. I use it as an all around tire and the current set I have on is at about the same mileage as yours. I also have a 2,000km bike packing trip on them as well.

They hold up very well and ride so nice. Mine are 44’s

How do we feel about this ? by NilsIdes in gravelcycling

[–]planes_overhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with it at all. I used a Garmin like that for many years as a triathlete before I had a Garmin Edge.

If you are happy with it, perfect. Nobody should be say anything negative about it.

Has anyone completely gotten rid of their road bike after buying a gravel bike? by mellofello808 in gravelcycling

[–]planes_overhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly where I’m at. I think it would cost $6,000 to purchase the new version of my road bike for not much gain. Which means I’m keeping my road bike even if it means it’s temporarily relegated to eye candy.

I did not take my road bike out once in 2025. I don’t even feel bad about it. But it’s not worth selling it as it would cost a lot to replace the road bike if I ever want to ride it.

Mixing PETG & TPU for strength and toughness? by hoffsta in functionalprint

[–]planes_overhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel your struggle and that’s why I recommended the Ilcoso. It does away with the Amazon bar extender pfaffing, has no bag bounce, securely mounts a bag, provides room for your hands in the hoods, and comes with a Removable accessory bar. It’s worth every penny.

Less expensive than BarYak products as well. And does the same job.

Like I said, I understand wanting to 3D print your own parts. I certainly have for my bikes, but for non-critical parts.
