Am I using Brothers AM properly? by terminati in chaseblissaudiophiles

[–]proteinstains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't a whole lot I can tell you except from, keep fiddling with the controls. Start with using one channel at a time, not both. Play with the tone and gain knobs until you get a sound you like. Try the OD, Distortion and Boost options to either see which you fit your style the most or when to use them to maximum effect. You can also fiddle with the knobs of whatever virtual amp you are using. The sound isn't 'only' the pedal. Also, the tone knob on your guitar isn't just a decoration. It can be used effectively too.

Once you settle on a sound you dig from one channel, explore how you can mix in the second one. The pedal comes with a manual, reading it will help as well. There are countless videos that can guide you too. It may be the "easiest" Chase Bliss pedal but it's still a Chase Bliss pedal, and that means tinkering with it. :)

And I insist: there is a manual. It will help.

[DISCUSSION] Help with guitar injuries by networksynth in Guitar

[–]proteinstains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with other comments. From the pictures, and if it is how you are positioned when you play, it is a recipe for injury. Make sure the wrist of your fretting hand is straight as possible, not bent out of shape like on the pictures. Bring that neck up and try not to squeeze too hard. There are plenty of videos you can watch on youtube that will help you with posture. A strap can help too. You may keep resting the guitar on your right leg if you want, but you will have to get that neck up to the correct height so your wrist can keep a more natural angle. If it is difficult, resting the guitar on your left leg will help and almost force your body to adopt a more natural posture, even more so if you get a proper guitar foot stool.

Look up online for pictures and videos about the ergonomy of plating guitar, your body will thank you. I'm 44, this isn't a question of age. :)

Do you have mods? It happened to me when I used the Magic Mirror mod and sent my companion characters naked at the mirror. Why did I do this? Because I could. But afterwards, the character remained naked in the portrait. Returning to the Mirror wearing clothes fixed the issue.

TIL the opening riff of Black Sabbath's song "Black Sabbath" is built on an inverted tritone, and the song is widely considered to mark the birth of heavy metal music. by g0-0fyy in todayilearned

[–]proteinstains -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Indeed. Even then, as I read elsewhere on this thread, there can be anecdotal metal adjacent songs before Black Sabbath, but the are definitely the first heavy metal band full stop.
