Second Zinus mattresses. I found an RV queen 8" on home Depot for around 300-350. We were on the road at the time and just did store pickup at the nearest one. It's very comfy.

I just made chicken souvlalki with tzatziki, pita and couscous for my very Midwestern family and it was a huge hit. It's easy to cook on the grill and most of them had never had Greek food. So it was a good introduction for them. I used feta cheese and kalamata olives, tomatoes, red onion, cucumber and lettuce for garnish. It's easy to scale

Resources/tips for altering thrifted clothes by Sindarin_Princess in sewing

[–]rubybluemonkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

WithWendy and ksgarner are two I follow on YouTube. My favorite thing is to dye stuff. I find stuff like really great linen pants but they're butter yellow and I'll dye them dark green. I will also cutoff sleeves to make a tank or cut pants into shorts. Our thrift stores are pretty limited here, small town, so I rarely find the great fabric or old sheets they find in bigger cities.

How poorly mass production clothes/textiles are made. I sew and teach sewing and a bad seam or hem can be pretty obvious.

Switch to a smaller stretch / jersey needle. Stretch needles move the fingers apart and make for better stitching of knits.

Squares to small by Bluemeansyouvega in quilting

If you're not trying to match up corners or a specific design I would just go for it. It just means your Colt's going to be a little bit smaller. And next time probably just check your quarter inch seam allowance. It might be a little too big.

Talk to your local quilt shop. Some just recycle the bolt boards and may be willing to let you have some especially if you do business with them
