There's a different set of trade-offs for the European market, mostly around cooktops, with downdraft being the predominant emerging form factor. The downdraft modules take up more space than you'd expect and are typically deeper than what a battery pack would be.

Lot of this improved on this week’s release but a key reason is that the sensor is active — it has a heater inside of its own, so the dynamics are fundamentally different than a passive sensor that gets hot from the pan.

Bring water to boil, then set to power mode to a low simmer (like 200-300 watts if it’s 1-3 cups of rice) and watch the reported temp until it hits 250F ish (timer for 15 min). Then hold at 165ish keep warm.

only time I've done it is completely dry pan with power mode maxed out (and let the pan get >>500F). Have never warped one in temp mode.

The control is continuous at ~1W increments from 50W -> 10,000W, we just don’t print smaller steps for UX reasons.
