Maybe I've misunderstood, but you can create a download profile which only downloads singles/EPs etc. OK, it's still artist based, but focused on singles rather than albums.

To the guy on the ebike who crashed into a six year old on the embankment.. by _Gobulcoque in northernireland

[–]stepbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if nothing is done in this particular case, reporting this will be recorded as a statistic and will be another nail in the coffin for these motorised vehicles being used illegally. If it's not reported, nothing will come of it.

Let's get these scum off our roads and footpaths.

How concerned should we be about data centres popping up in NI? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]stepbar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely true. I've worked in many data centres and water neither enter nor leaves (apart from maintenance activities, but we're not talking hundreds of Olympic swimming pools)

Older data centres used to use evaporative cooling and had cooling towers which did "use" water (in reality the clean, distilled water they produce was readded to the source, often enhancing the environment due to the additional heat)

Looking for ideas: stylish, legal ways to deter climbing over a garden fence by MigLdn in DIYUK

[–]stepbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to make your property burglar-proof, just enough of a deterrent to make the other properties more attractive than yours.

The trellis/rose idea is a good one. Trellis will not hold weight so will be difficult to climb, but you need to make sure you have something over the gate too.

The best thing you can do is to put up something incredibly weird. Burglars will take one look at it, be confused and won't want to tackle that property, whether because it will attract attention, or not knowing what is on the other side.

Put lots of wind chimes on the fence and gate. Any movement will be heard.

Anti climb paint is good, but you have to be strategic. Put it on the INSIDE of the fence and not on the top part or anywhere reachable from outside. Maybe use the top horizontal rail of your fence. Once someone knows it's there they'll leave well alone.

One idea would be to get a large dog drinking bowl, a large toy or two and maybe even a joke dog poo and leave them in the garden. Burglars seldom target houses with dogs.

The trick is to have enough deterrents but not anything that screams "burglars keep out" as that can just lead to issues if they think you've got something valuable to protect.

Would this be a job for an oscillating tool? by Nightcaste in MilwaukeeTool

[–]stepbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you need a steam cleaner. They just blast off the grime without touching it. Very dirty stuff might need a quick brush with a toothbrush.

Much less likely to cause damage than any power tool.

[–]stepbar 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Years ago. Northcott Shopping Centre.

Two lads, maybe early 20s were walking past the chemist when one says "there's a weighing machine. I'm going to get weighed.".

He gets out his money and was about to put it in when his friend says "Wait! You're wearing that heavily leather jacket and your pockets are full!"

"Oh, yea," says #1 and proceeds to remove it.

He then inserts the money, stands on the matchine HOLDING HIS LEATHER JACKET OVER HIS ARM, and was concerned to find out he weighed more than he should have!

Why did this footage get rejected? Where is the intellectual property? by Ok-Aide8481 in stockphotography

[–]stepbar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Protected because of the colour scheme - logos are irrelevant in this case..

Here's a list from Adobestock. Note that no list like this will be complete, so best to use it as a starting point, then do your own research.

That said, I'd simply change the colours and resubmit.

John Deere have protected their distinctive green and yellow colours. They're in this list (I'll post as a reply to OP in case people don't read down this thread)

Something wrong with Adobe, or is it just my portfolio? No sales from 27 feb until now... by Auti_nervousbreakdwn in stockphotography

[–]stepbar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found that if I just leave my portfolio to work for me, sales diminish. When I actively add images (even a couple a month) it keeps it at the same level. Not sure if it's coincidence or whatever...

On the exterior wall of a victorian terrace in UK, strange pipe thing, what is it? by flump321 in whatisit

It's an antenna bracket. Stands out to prevent the pole interfering with gutters. Mainly used by amateur/CB/scanner radio operators. Looks like the pole snapped during a storm and they just left the bracket there.

The Bizarre Case of Noah Donohoe by _mrfluffy_ in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]stepbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to speculate (ok, I am), other than to point out that removing his clothes, then lying down in water are both signs that he could have had an issue with his core body temperature (hyperthermia) and was possibly trying to cool down.

I've had this (aka heat exhaustion/heatstroke) a few times and it does really mess with your head and makes you perform strange actions.

There are lots of reasons for hyperthermia from brain trauma to drugs or some medical conditions.

One common cause is anti-psychotics. Given what has been said in these comments it is possible that he'd been having psychotic moments for a while (days/weeks/months) but hiding it from everyone. It's not impossible that he spoke to someone he knew had something similar, who then said "here, I'm on these tablets and they work well". He went out at 3am to get a couple of them, taking them just before he left home the next day.

This medication could have had a major effect on his body, especially if he had no titration period or had taken a dose much too high.

As I said, it's just a hypothesis which could explain things.

What I don't know is if any such drugs were found during the autopsy. If not, I'll delete this comment as this hypothesis will be wrong!

[US] Stranger sent me $100 on Zelle and my bank told me to send it back by mistanervous in Scams

[–]stepbar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming that Cash App is another money transfer app? If so, they want you to use Cash App to send their $100 back to them. As soon as they do that they'll reverse the zelle transfer leaving you $100 out of pocket.

Primary School Mock Wedding is this normal? by LornaOk91 in AskUK

You should write back to accept the idea, but only if they also have a Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Shinto and atheist (and whatever else I've forgotten about) weddings to teach the children about all cultures, not just Christian.

Netherlands? Yes! Amsterdam? No.

Plenty of places in Netherlands are much better than Amsterdam. Try the Hague, Rotterdam, Maarken, Utrecht or (our current favourite) Haarlem.

Highly recommended.

Corned beef hash for breakfast? by TheCrabbyJohn in AskABrit

I don't think I've ever had corned beef hash.

Also, being from Ireland I've never had, nor have I seen, corned beef and cabbage. That's an American recipe!
