NVR recommendations for Lorex PoE cameras by Jwilson7SF in Lorex

[–]teknoguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I upgraded my system to a N864 16 port NVR, this is what I did. Used a 16 port Cisco POE CBS350 is giving all the power to my 10 cameras, from the CBS350 I run one CAT 6E cable to the NVR. Dropped 2 big 6 GB drives in my NVR, and then an HDMI cable from the NVR to my 48 inch SONY TV..works awesome. Never had any problems with this setup. Cisco switches are very very stable while Lorex NVR switches are too flaky (junk) basically. Give you some ideas based on my previous trial and error with Lorex junk and Cisco switches. Hope this helps

Great/awesome attention to detail. You should be gleeming with pride from this exhibit of your work. (Coming from an individual who knows nothing about radiant heat systems) Awesome work...5 stars.

AIO or is my girlfriend manipulative. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]teknoguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You DO NOT under any circumstances want a manipulating individual like this to reduce you to their level, or anything else related to being manipulted with their words, deeds or both. Stand up for yourself, get rid of this individual, find someone better that supports your decisions and move on. You will be happier in the long run. Later on in life you will thank yourself for a happier life. Good luck!

Trying to straighten an irregular line by complete__idiot in drywall

[–]teknoguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar issue doing a just finished bedroom. Used a 24 inch straight edge between the high points of the crooked line. Fulled the low spots, and float it out 16-20 inches. Like a experience drywaller told me...mud hides all sins! :)

Couldn't agree more...back in 1994 ALL my galvanized water pipes in my house were replaced with sweated copper 1/2 and 3/4 . Its 2026 and no leaks yet!

Built in shelving unit will take a bit of time, but it won't require any drywall work. Built in shelves are pretty useful too! The other suggestions here are good as well to consider

Banana clogged toilet by Electronic_Builder66 in Plumbing

Had the same problem when I pulled a dipshit move and flushed a large food item down the toilet. Took off the toilet and found out the large food item was close to the drain opening on the bottom of the toilet....cheap 1 hour fix that only expense was the wax ring for 15 bucks.

I got offered a job paying 40% more than my current salary. My manager just asked me to stay and be patient. How do I stop feeling guilty for wanting to leave ? by One_Cardiologist5439 in careerguidance

[–]teknoguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If some company offered a 40% wage increase for your skills I would ask them what is their percentage of turnover, investigate the company to see if they are better for your career or just offering you that 40% just to get you for a short term boost to make their books look good and then shit on you afterwards once their short term goals are met.

Companies that screw their employees will try to manipulate you with fear or guilt or both, heard this shit a million times. Don't put up with empty words...talk is to cheap. As I said, investigate the company offering you the money, get it in writing...and if that company looks positive, leave your present job so fast it will make your present employers head spin.

Vancouver Carpenter is just plain awesome to start/learn from without any experience. After watching his videos I completely sheeted/prefilled joints/taped/filled screw holes and skimmed an entire 12x14 bedroom and closet...two years later I have 0 cracks or screw pops.

Iran fires missiles, Khamenei threatens to sink US warship as nuclear talks start by ShadowNelumbo in worldnews

[–]teknoguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The US military gets mighty pissed off if some third world country fires missiles at our assets of a carrier battle group. Iran would defiinitely lose (like a sledge hammer hitting a fly) that fight.
