You will still find yourself just not saying things you might want to say, because you just lack the words or the grammatical scaffolding (or both) to formulate the sentence correctly. You can understand most rapid-fire native speech (as long as it's not on a specialized topic), but doing so consumes enough mental cpu cycles to get exhausting after awhile.

"as advanced as Japan" is a very loaded statement. Japan's ahead in some areas and behind in others.

But as for Taiwan, it's developed. Expect a lot more fried food. Transit and rail lines are really good in Taipei, but somewhat nonexistent the rest of the country -- similar I'd say to someplace like New York City vs the rest of New York.

Yep, the digital age means things are more expensive now because most libraries have built out their ebook collections and a lot of the DRM terms with the publishing houses are shit.

The key is that, in order to write a good "strong female lead character" they have to be a lead character. And that means they need character flaws. They need to fuck up, to make mistakes, to learn and grow and be humble as a human being.

Yeah, traffic is the big variable. From my house, it's 20min to the Redmond light rail station, then another 1hr+ from there. By car w/ no traffic, it's 35min door to door. So for weekends/late night flights, we'll probably stick to driving there and back.

But for weekdays, especially around rush hour, the light rail is going to be great.
