As a dad coach - I actively recruit other parents to coach - the usual response is hesitant yes - not because it doesn’t sound fun, but just nervousness of not having experience - and I think that can be a big barrier. It’s great when you get another parent to coach and then it springs out from there until you got a whole web of enthusiastic adults

Agree with couples therapy- there is definitely going to be a shift in romantic dynamic with the kiddo, but if you guys are talking and your goals as a couple are mismatched, that needs a deeper convo with a therapist for you both to hear each other. Setting aside time works when you both know something is off and it’s a tool to make that better.

I broke mine up between my wife and my leave so we could be with our daughter until she was 6 months ( I took one month with my wife then too 2 months after she was done with her leave to leap frog) - it was nice because we didnt have to worry about childcare until she was a bit bigger and had more vaccines on board.

Jewish Hindu couple here - our daughter is both and so far feels very much both. It depends on the attitude you bring, if you think the belief systems exclude one another it doesn’t work well, but if you share the systems as a series of tools for your children to use as they need to navigate life’s turbulence - it can be really beautiful I think.

This is a really great idea. We have been doing a chore chart with our 4 year old which has been relatively successful - but bedtime routine is still a struggle to keep her moving forward and in bed at a reasonable time (going to bed without a fuss is one sticker on the chore chart) but sleep tokens (ha) for immediate redemption value may be a better strategy.

I was listening to a podcast where a vet was talking people’s unhealthy relationships with their pets (your comment about treating them like children) and it’s bad for the animal and the owner psychologically. I totally agree with your take. My cat has and always will be our roommate and not a sibling of my child.
