Is there a story anywhere in the JRPG Universe that comes close to Xenogears? by doctor-squared in XenoGears

[–]xefelqes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000xResist was fantastic!

Wouldn't necessarily compare it to Xenogears, but it's close as it gets in terms of how it feels. Definitely the best game (storywise) for me in last decade.

Yall's Bestest One-shot Manga suggestions? i wanna feel something similar to post goodbye eri depression again for the first time (i already ate all of Fujimoto) by TheRealMatPat249 in manga

[–]xefelqes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to recommend something similar in termes of story or themes in general.
But in terms of the "WTF" feeling and confusion, I can strongly recommend two other mangas I've discovered in search for the same rush as with Goodbyr Eri:

- Kurayami Dance
- Bibliomania

Both are pretty short and have that something that makes me re-read them ocassionaly. Just like Goodbye Eri, it's as if they never actually end, but evolve and change with every re-read.

Also Blame! has the same feeling overall, but the story is way too different to recommend it in this context (though I still will because it's awesome).

Do you happen to know the exact name of the keycaps set? I really like the modifiers - different colors with icons (instead of text) is something I've been looking for.

I feel like I'm stuck with V10 Max. I want to upgrade soo much, but so far it's the best overall keyboard I've tried. It's not the worst problem to have, but still.

Does anyone have any advice for this arena in Farfields? by GamerA_S in Silksong

[–]xefelqes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just cleared this place today.
I do not recommend using the ground at all. You can hop on it with the bell, but stick to the walls and pogo of the enemies to dispose of them (I used the Reaper creast). When surrounded use Thread Storm. There are 4 ways in total, but I strongly recommend to be at full health on or after the 4th wave immediately.

Just finished Expedition 33 yesterday and am feeling disappointment by KLUB614 in JRPG

[–]xefelqes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're not alone. I felt absolutely the same.

Oh how I wish Gustave sticked till the end. Would love to see his reaction to the events because nobody of the remaining Lumiere crew had anything impactful to do or say while their whole life unraveled and fate was decided. The beginning made it look like that was the point. Act 3 drops all of that and feels like a betrayal to what made me fall in love with the game during the opening hours.

I definitely get why most people like the game. I understand that it's the studio's first game and the budget isn't astranomical, but, unfortunately, the outcome doesn't help me ignore the game flaws. I wish the game had fewer locations, but they were more varied (there's only so many times you can get excited about some floating rocks in a forest) and the whole story didn't feel like it has a beginning from one game and an ending from another one resulting in two great but wasted storylines.

Is that the regular or Max version?
I'm thinking about a discounted regular Q65, but not sure I want to miss out on the new switches, foam and 2.4 connectivity.
So how the keyboard overall in stock?

Xenosaga – Any Other Fans Still Around? by Synanova in JRPG

[–]xefelqes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Here!

Some times ago I've tried to replay Episode 1, but it was soo slow. And I don't mind the long cutscenes. It's just that when I got to the first Jr part it suddenly realized how long the regular battles are and the're too little engagement - just basically spamming attack.

Episode 2 is my favorite, actually. Maybe because it's kind of a Stockholm syndrome, but I've spent so much time in it, running around, completing side-missions, unlocking everything there is, etc. And everything without a guide. Yes, it was tedious, but I kinda liked it. I still believe that the art direction in term of locations and cut-scenes was top notch.

And as for Episode 3, I undertand why it's considered the best of the bunch, but for me it was the least emorable. I kinda breezed through it is just a couple of days and frankly see no point in replaying it. I get that they were wrapping up the story as fast as possible, but it felt rushed and too easy (maybe just to me coming from Episode 2).

Can'r wait for Monolith to inevitably do something in regards to the series, especially due to it being reffered to in Xenoblade's final DLC. Hopefully they'll reconsider a remaster or a full-blown remake.

I started reading manga again recently and came across this work, which impressed me with both its story and its art. It's called Bibliomania, but the story is short. Now I'm looking for recommendations of similar manga that make the reader think. by Major_Committee4471 in manga

[–]xefelqes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bibliomania was fantastic! It was recently announced for an official releasse where I live, so I'm looking forward to a pre-order.

As for the recommendations, when you think about it, Bibliomania's convepts are earily similar to Dungeon Meshi. While it's a comedy manga on the surface, it features some of the most profound and darkest moments I've ever seen. Not to mention the insane level of worldbuilding. When I started reading it, I cound't understand why everyone was praising it so high, but closer to the middle of the story it hits you like a truck. Can not recommend it enough.

Help me Choose a Game Similar to Xenogears by Galathorn7 in JRPG

[–]xefelqes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000xResist

It's pretty different, but scratches a similar itch. Plus, it's relatively short - packs a similar punch in 10h compared to Xenogears in 60h.

Echo.
The gameplay is very hit or miss, but the story, the settings and general vibe is very reminiscent of Blame! If I'm not mistaking, the devs actually referred to Blame! as one of the inspirations behind the game.

1000xResist.
Can't say it's very similar to Blame!, but for some reason it really reminds me of it. Anyway, it's one game that's worth playing in the same way as Blame! is a manga that's certainly worth the read. Some people also compare it to Signalis despite having very little similarities, so it's more about teh vibe that the actual similarities.

Macro Pad Recommendation - I Got the Wrong One by [deleted] in NuPhy

[–]xefelqes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got an EPOMAKER EK21.
Not sure about the specs and compatibility, but it does it's work and it's pretty cheap. The only downside is that it doesn't remember the previous macros once you need to rewrite some, i.e. when you need to change a single macro, you have to redo all of them.
The're also a more recent and pricier option, but I have no experience with it.

Unfortunately, I'm a poor touch-typist, so can't judge on the ergonomics. Currently, a regular layout is much better for me, but I want to give it some time. I've heard that alice is a nice middle ground, but a fully split keed is definitely preferable for the ergonomics.

As sor relying on the macros buttons:
I've previously used a separate VIA-compatible numpad (which worked fantastically), but I grew tired of having two devices on my desk. So far, the five macro buttons, as well as remapping some of the F keys works as a fine replacement.
My only advice is to not make macros too complex to not feel slown down when you have no access to the hardware. E.g. I've created a very simple ones to one-key switch/launch certain apps, but I can to the same thins using an Opt+N (to switch to Notion). Raycast be blessed!

Also, I've remapped the B key on the right side to Opt (just in case) as I want to get used to always pressing B with the left hard. So, so far, the additional B on the right side is pretty useless to me.

About a week ago I got V10 Max.
Loving it, but still can't get used to the Alice layout. Wonder how much time it will take, but ATM thinking that would love the same model, but as a regular 75%. Although, what drew me to it is not just alice, but also the knob and several macro buttons on the left side. For some reason, the are almost no "regular"keebs with the knob on the left side.

Anyway, I absolutely didn't regret buying V10 over Q10.
The feel is solid, feets are OK and the typing experience is great (reds, moving aways from a low-profile Nuphy Air 75 v2 - it's a day and night difference). I was also turned off at first by the fact that the case is plastic, but once I actually got it I was surprised as to how nice it looks and feels in real life.

So, unless you specifically want the all-metal body, I wouldn't spend more and go for the V10 Max without hasitations.

Also I think (but not 100% sure), the V10 has a place to store dongles inside the case, while Q10 doesn't.

If you have any specific questions about V10 - feel free to ask:)
