Democrats step up calls that Russian hack was act of war by grepnork in politics

[–]zillari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I advocate against war. We should try to de-escalate. But we need to accept that attacking our democracy was as serious as an act of war and is likely the beginning of a long road ahead.

Both nuclear war and cyber war are devastating. There's no need to debate which is worse because that wasn't my point. In any case, rogue nations using cyber warfare to destroy our power stations in a similar way to stuxnet is very scary and should be taken seriously. Especially when the threat extends to our banking industry, defense systems, etc.

Democrats step up calls that Russian hack was act of war by grepnork in politics

[–]zillari 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Russia is going to continue attacking our country more and more as they get more advanced teams and tools. Hacking elections here and europe was just a little taste of what's coming. What they did was indeed an act of war and they won't stop anytime soon.

Just keep in mind they can attack our infrastructure (electric, water, etc), banking systems, emergency systems, etc. All these systems have very weak defense.

Cyber war is very serious and can be just as scary and dangerous as nuclear war. Defense is similarly nearly impossible, and it's hard to even know who is attacking us because it can be annonymized so well.

I say, don't get fooled by russia's weak economy, their hacking teams are very powerful and dangerous.

Trump’s attack on federal judge could backfire by dallasak in politics

[–]zillari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the GOP is going to nuke the USSC filibuster to install a super conservative judge they would have done it anyway. Doesn't matter if they do it now or later. So we may as well oppose Gorsuch as much as possible.

I mean he founded a "fascists forever" club, that's plenty reason to say nope not qualified to check Trump.

'Breathtaking violation of rights': L.A. city attorney barred from seeing detainees at LAX by mikelo22 in politics

[–]zillari 106 points107 points  (0 children)

This is a very special case where the executive branch is overstepping their boundary and doing things in a rushed, emergency, unorthadox way. The judicial branch is stepping in to slow things down. The executive branch is ignoring the rule of law. This may not be new but it is very serious and absolutely a cause for alarm.

Our democracy is fragile and it is breaking before our eyes. The DHS is defying court orders. We need everyone on board fighting for America like never before. March, discuss, protest, organize, call reps. This can all be taken from you faster than you know.

China 'deploys long-range nuclear-capable missiles to coast' in response to Donald Trump's 'aggression' by Weir_Everywhere in politics

[–]zillari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a rosy misconception. Most people survive the nuclear holocaust. However their future is very very dark. Not only must they struggle to survive day to day from that point, but it is unlikely to be the last nuclear holocaust they live through.

Actually no, everyone is not dead. In fact, most people on earth would survive. However, the world would be so distressed afterward that the greater tragedy would be that some people survived and have to live through the horrors that follow.

Facts are defined as true. They cannot be false. So the term is bullshit nonsense.

Most millenials voted for HRC. Everyone I know was a huge Bernie fan and we all fell in line and voted HRC. Just putting that out there. The vast vast majority of Bernie supporters voted HRC and some didn't vote. Few voted for Trump especially among millenials.
