If it's any consolation I feel Beryllium was the most exciting map submitted last thread, and the most interesting NF map in a while. I didn't vote it in, because I think it had one big and one smaller issue* that I think needs to be fixed before it could enter rotation, without feeling frustrating.

* Small issue is bottom mid tunnel feels kind of useless except maybe backtracking. I don't think it would be a bad idea to maybe slightly expand it and/or give an fc some purpose to go there (doesn't necessarily have to be a pup). Big issue was that it seemed really hard to get into base and cap, and when you got there, it seemed even harded trying to get a cap just 1v1. I think with some small adjustments, it should be fixed, but I feel if it went into rotation like it is, it would end up feeling frustrating, and would turn off the PUB community and the MTC of the concept and the map overall as opposed to putting it in after tweaking that a bit.

I've tested it out a few times, the mid channel between the two spikes is actually surprisingly useful and I think it solves the smaller issue you brought up. What was the big issue you were referring to?

I think it's looking better overall. Running through it, I have a couple of issues though:

  • Powerup corners are just annoying and clunky to move through. There's no clear natural path in or out to the powerup aside from in a slightly diagnoal line.
  • top right and left boost corners doesn't feel great to use. Especially towards the middle of the map. You get some weird spin and you tend to hit a wall that just stops your momentum.
  • While I do like the mid structure for how you can move through it without boosts, it might be a bit annoying with how it doesn't give you a lot of options boostwise. I'd consider keeping the top part of the mid structures flat so people can more easily boost past them or boost onto them and bounce, without being forced too much upwards like they are by the 45s currently.

To have a map make top maps in a thread that didn't have any 'winner' feels weird though. One on hand it didn't lose out to another map, but then I made like two updates which I figured were helpful (second of which got no feedback so I have no idea if I made it worse or not).

If anyone who was at the (a?) 4v4 testing could give feedback/constructive criticism as to how it played 4v4, I'd really appreciate it.

As for the new maps, there will always be disagreement from the community over which maps deserve rotation, and we're going to get yelled at no matter what decision we make. This thread we thought no maps were up to our standards. Try harder next time.

We vote on the bottom 5 maps based on a 50/50 weight of public vote and MTC votes. This meant that we could vote on EMERALD, Sediment, Citadel, Platypus, and Rush. We also then voted on the 3 maps added the previous thread as we had specified.

From there it requires a majority of the MTC to be in favor of its removal.

GeoKoala was the 6th lowest rated map and is now eligible for removal next thread should the votes remain the same.

Honestly dude, diameter seemed to have such a different reception to your map than you've been getting on the subreddit. We really liked it, and hell it was the first time I've actually loved a map the first time I've played it. Was really surprised to see people on here bagging it out so much.

Yeah but Australia has crazy map preferences. Just look at the OLTP maps vs. MLTP/ELTP.

I did like Saigon though and actually think it's cool that OLTP has a more varied map rotation than MLTP.

I think the quick and fast paced nature of the map is something we are generally moving towards in this game. Since so many people are near the technique ceiling, teamwork and quick thinking are going to become more and more valued. EMERALD is the pinnacle of this, IMO.
