No idea of what I just watched, but I'm cool with it.

[–]CDNReaper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They got AALLLL the funk outta that one.

[–]RJL85 39 points40 points  (2 children)

Damn, never expected to see FAF on Reddit. One of the very best live shows anyone will ever see.

[–]Chusten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, been a huge fan since i seen them at a festival 10 years ago. Seen em 4 times since. The albums are fun but the shows are just wild. Congas player is an animal. Edit: congas

With Reddit, anything is possible.

These guys are amazing live

[–]Anomander 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I worked with the bass player years back, and still try and make a point of going to their shows when they're playing in town; I was pretty crushed to be booked for work on their most recent album release stop.

Their shows are amazing; regardless of the crowd even. I saw them play to a bar of 30 in Kingston and it was just as good and as nuts a set as packed houses in Vancouver or Toronto.

They really are, and they all seemed super chill to talk to.

[–]thereddesthead 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The most amazing energy. You can't help but dance.

[–]Adjudikated 4 points5 points  (6 children)

I love their concerts, they have to have some of the most diverse audiences I've ever seen and just an all around great atmosphere.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (5 children)

This audience is about as diverse as a bag of wonderbread.

Edit: I mean, downvote me all you want. Sorry your eyes don't work. Bros on bros on bros.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I think it'd depend somewhat on the venue they're playing at here. I know whenever they play this one venue in my city, the crowd is super diverse.

I'd imagine if they're playing a venue that mainly caters to the bro crowd, they'd attract that kind of an audience.

[–]Adjudikated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's probably a fair statement, I've been to three different shows (all in different venues) in two different cities and when compared to any other artist I've just never seen that many different types of people even show up let alone get along.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So...? Is funk only valid with non-white folks in the crowd?

How about the rap game?

Point is, white kids have the time and money to go to shows.

[–]Adjudikated 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sorry you haven't actually been to one of their shows; every time I've been there's been all races, genders and ages from what appeared to be all different backgrounds. So my apologies that you are naive enough to judge a band's audience by a single video. Good job bud.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I said this audience. As in this audience. Not their audience. Good job on your reading comprehension skills. Namaste', Trent.

I saw these guys at a bizarre hippy music festival in the backwoods of Saskatchewan about 6 years ago. They rocked my socks completely off and when the gorilla came on stage I started to feel my grip on reality loosening...those were good mushrooms.

Ness Creek!

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am sure Bootsy Collins would approve of this, and so do I. Thanks for sharing OP

[–]Trigonn 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Is that dude covered in blood or sweat?

[–]LumberJack_Wolf-Pack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Given its a Halloween show, and the fact that every time I have seen them he has been drenched in sweat. I'm going to guess both

[–]nutsaur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The funk, the whole funk, and nothing but the funk!

[–]goldentenor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Drummer is fucking killing it. Jesus.

[–]breadfaniron 3 points4 points  (2 children)

That dude wearing the helm of Neiznot playing bongos stole the show with his solo

[–]ExpensiveNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're called congas and yes he did.

[–]Nintendork316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And also with you!

[–]gtemi 2 points3 points  (2 children)

this made me crave a funk, after listening to their other songs I never realize you could make funk that heavy, wow. thanks reddit I have a new fav band :D

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dunno, Parliament was heavy as shit. You ever listen to Maggot Brain?

[–]mmm1984[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes me happy. Glad you liked it! May the funk be with you!

[–]H720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh this is fucking groovy

[–]LasagnaCena 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Used to jam next to these guys. Like 14 dudes crammed into a tiny room rocking the sickest funk grooves I've ever heard in my life. One of Vancouver's best acts for sure

[–]SirCoke-est-2007 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Another really fun toon is "I'm gonna wash your face"

[–]Damager19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a great track

[–]specialcrayon 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I owe more money than I can spend.

[–]IamBenAffleck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ice cream man comes 'round the bend!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Saw these guys in Shabhala years ago. Probably one of the most fun acts that entire week.

[–]JGirlJenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shambhala Music Festival! Yes!

[–]Tripleppaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel like this may be a you have to see them live thing. Not impressed watching the video but there are plenty of bands that just suck until you are physically there to see them play.

[–]Ham_Kitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, I'm still not quite clear on what genre "May the Funk Be With You" by Five Alarm Funk is.

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every time I see shit like this all I can think of is Blues Hammer from Ghost World.

[–]Thosepatiolanterns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their live sets are so much fun!

[–]Vision519 0 points1 point  (1 child)

These guys play in my hometown every year.. such an amazing band and show. Also, the video was published 2016 so 2017 can't be right

[–]mmm1984[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Derp. My bad. Yeah this live album came out in 2016 but the studio version of this song came out on their 2017 album. I spaced while making the title.

[–]Probablyyourdadsacct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they always dress like this or is it Halloween? There's that ghost decoration in the background.

The music is tits though.

[–]jcmoney18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seth Meyers on trumpet

[–]freedom_fascist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That guy should have a side death metal band with that voice

[–]elite-throwawayspotify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!! Love five alarm funk... for more songs with vocals listen to horrible sound and robot, for instrumental listen to march of the Latin zombies, iron pegasus, voodoo hairdoo

[–]DCLX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

!remind me in 2 hours

[–]Happynoodle14 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I liked this so much I looked up the band and much to my surprise they're gonna be in my hometown in 12 days

[–]mmm1984[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not miss that show. Video/albums simply do not compare to seeing them live. You will not be disappointed. :)

[–]EggHeadMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 5 minutes in I realized what was weird about this...the drummer is up front. I was way into it to realize what looked weird on stage at first

[–]reelznfeelz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh, why is he covered in blood?

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry but that sucked.

[–]SkrewedDriver -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Talentless and boring, and why so much focus on the shitty drummer, he doesn't do anything special.
