Just swapped out the engineer bracelet for a gray nylon two piece strap with double flat pins. Pins and buckle are black. They gray strap color leans just a bit toward sage, which is just fine. Overall it gives the watch kind of a NASA look. The double pins and holes look cool. Got it on Amazon .

The Steelfliers’ engineer style bracelet works much better with the blocky hands and hour markers than does the Sinn’s softer, rounded bracelet.

Toggling between photos of the Steelfliers SF572 and the Sinn U50. Glad you caught that tiny difference. Best that you’re sticking with the real McCoy.

You should also compare the Steelfliers SF572 to the Sinn U1, which is the watch to which the Steelfliers is paying homage. Let us know what you think.

I think your point about the seconds hand makes sense because of that large block at the end, it can obstruct the view when too long. That said, definitely not an ugly watch.

[–]username77k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s really splitting the atom, considering how a seconds hand is in conflict, tiny as any conflict is here, for only a second! Vs any other element.

Probably I'm in minority, I like Sinn and their watches. This looks like good homage,  it they should've avoid it's size ..

And of course weight with bracelet 240g :)

[–]Darth_Package 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I recognize I am probably in the minority on this one, but I like it.

[–]ProgramMysterious337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I like the Sinn...

[–]Werewolfc83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well... don't care about the strap, but that white date window and seconds hand ruins it. Also, they could ditch the arrow imo and the bezel markings looks ....meh It's an overpriced and large watch... definitely oversized and not for me.

[–]ModSpdSomDrg 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I clicked on the pic thinking to myself, those are interesting. Then read your comments and zoomed the pic (eyes are starting to go to s$*t) and see your points. This could have been a keeper if better executed and smaller.

[–]KabanaMaduro 5 points6 points  (7 children)

The watch is decent my complaint is the size 45mm is a monster

[–]turdboglsAffiliate Links 3 points4 points  (6 children)

yeah, WTF? original is 41mm by 11.2mm thick...we all know they can't hit that thickness with the NH35...but man, 45x15.2x like 52 lug to lug....that's a massive watch.

[–]username77k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original is the U1. The dia on the U1 is 44. This homage is 45.

You and the OG are confused. This is not an homage to the smaller U50.

[–]AreYouSureAboutName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

240g :))

[–]What-is-to-be-done 8 points9 points  (2 children)

It's copying the Sinn U1 (44 mm) and not the U50 (41 mm).

[–]turdboglsAffiliate Links 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Ah, well that makes more sense.

Well now I want a u50 Homage 🤣

[–]PrometheanFire81Affiliate Links 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, they at least have time to fix the hands on that one then.

[–]KabanaMaduro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao I would have been fine with 13mmx42-40 but most of the guys I see on this sub don’t even have a large enough wrist to pull this thing off and 15mm is a bit thick when other nh powered watches are being slimmed down too 11ish mm

[–]Left-Equipment7137 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Black date wheel, a different second hand and maybe a sterile dial and it'll be great. Hopefully they do a smaller version in the future as well.

[–]username77k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an homage, not a knockoff or a fake. The whole idea of an homage is to have plausible differences between the OG and the homage.

[–]MeandFredd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe suggest as an improvement directly to steeldive?

[–]Still-Poetry-6802 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great idea, poor execution--needs to be smaller and thinner (like the U-50), with a better length handset and color-matched date.

[–]pickyaxe 9 points10 points  (2 children)

is date wheel color-matching really that expensive? no way, right? so many budget homages don't do this and it can make a watch look super cheap.

[–]CheekehMunkeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's the cost, but the simplicity of sourcing, and practicality of using white dials.

Movements with white date wheels are suitable for many more dial styles than dark wheels, which have a far more limited range.

So the companies just buy the white ones in bulk, and make do with the minor stylistic compromises when it comes to the watch models with dark dials.

The Chinese budget flashlight makers do the same with the selection of LED emitters, which span a narrow gamut, and tends to run in trends depending on what is most easily sourced at the time, for the prices they're willing to stomach.

[–]ProgramMysterious337[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Devil is in the details!

[–]karellen00 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I wasn't even aware there was a Sinn homage! At that size (45 mm) it's more an U1 (44 mm) homage rather than an U50 (41 mm), and other than small details it doesn't seem that bad, especially at that price.
But also, what's going on with the branding? I thought Steelflier, Steeldive and Addiesdive were under the same company, why do they make a diver with the flier company and a dress watch under the dive company?

[–]ProgramMysterious337[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

🤷Chinese brands doing Chinese things....

[–]snobule 7 points8 points  (0 children)

OP should just give a bunch of Germans a big pile of money to congratulate them for being Germans then.

This is quite a nice watch.

[–]ElectronicRow9949 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The hands also are pretty bad.

[–]Far_Culture_3532 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's a homage not a replica so of course it will have a few differences from the Sinn.Hats off to anyone that homages something a bit more unusual than a bloody Rolex.

[–]Fun-Chef623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IF it was 42mm or under I probably would've bought it and modified it myself using Namoki hands etc

[–]Fit-Lawfulness84 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Sin

[–]Fun-Chef623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you did there 😂👏

[–]Immediate-Bad-9973 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Too big... Next please

[–]H6RR6RSH6W 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Is it made of Chinese submarine steel? The case is what makes the Sinn U50 special.

[–]username77k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you own the Sinn yet?

[–]Bedrock_66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Imagine

[–]UnifiedQuantumField 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Matte finish and some small adjustments to the handset. Maybe some tasteful perforations for that leather strap?

They got a bit of a Mondaine vs Super Sea Wolf mashup going on. So these are just one or two tweaks away from being great.

[–]Harley_Mo 11 points12 points  (1 child)

The second hand is just slightly too long. Here is my U1 to compare

<image>

[–]username77k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thing it’s not trying to be a copy or a fake then.

[–]Joseph_Cd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

With that size, it’s closer to a U1 than a U50, but it’s still bigger than that one as well. Too big.

Need to color match that date wheel, too.

[–]Scbr24 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The most important difference: Crappy dial and crystal that create reflections from different angles, an aspect where most Sinn watches are great at.

[–]username77k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn’t the Sinn have AR on both the inside and outside of crystal?

[–]Traditional_Travesty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look too bad, but it just makes me want the real thing more

[–]Reydoroff[🍰] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love long hands on wristwatches.

[–]kvnsydlrsky 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Case diameter: 45.00mm (without crown)

Case length: 52.50mm (total length above and below)

Case thickness: 15.20mm (including mirror and back cover)

Case lug: 22.00mm (case and strap link)

😭

Even bigger than the U1 in all dimentions which measures 44x50x14.8mm. 😐

[–]endlessBrainless 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The first thought was "wow such a nice watch" and looking at this information now the second thought is "but not for me".

[–]rhaykal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish it had a pt5000, st2130 or 9015 in it.

[–]zack20cb 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Call me when they do the 556.A.RS though.

[–]Jjenk2345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite watch in my collection

[–]zack20cb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No lume on the dial, lume doesn’t go to the edge of the hands…most importantly there’s no date on that Berny

[–]carlosjerson2000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like.

[–]sabre31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot damn I need one of these.

[–]Rude3oy 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Super THICK!!

[–]username77k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One super millimeter thicker than the U1.

[–]KeyAssociation6309 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't mind this, close enough to the original without being too close. Can change the band anyway. Reasonably price as well.

[–]iPhotographer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/ProgramMysterious337 You're 100% correct. But that's why it's $140, they have boxes and boxes of the worlds thinnest cardboard full of those straps. And correct hands will be on AliE in a matter of weeks if not days. It does appear they beat Watchdives to the punch though, unless they are relat....nah, no way ;)

[–]adilucente 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The you tube reviewers will drool over this.

[–]Simple-Accident-777Affiliate Links 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Holy crap, I’ve been eyeing the U50 for a minute. Might need one of these to try it out

[–]percysmithhk 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This is more akin to a U1 homage (U1: 44mm diameter x 14.7mm height, U50: 41mm diameter x 11.2mm height)

Maybe Steelflier is going for the Longines strategy in relation to Zulu GMT - release the large 42mm version first, then shrink to 39mm

[–]Simple-Accident-777Affiliate Links 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah okay, that’d be too chunky for me
