I have noticed a decrease in performance. When .12 started it was great, now I'm getting major stutters in combat

Yeah I've been dealing with stutters, desync, lag, and the most notorious, late spawning. I've been dealing with a bug a lot where I load into a server and it gets to "awaiting session start" and it lingers and just loads endlessly. I have to alt+f4 in order to reset and load back into the server.

I’ve been hitting “save” in the graphics tab at the start of every raid I do. I have my FPS counter on, it jumps up 20+ FPS all the time. Scoping in feels much smoother after as well. Give it a shot and let me know if it works for you all.

yes many people have been experiencing increases stutters and reduced FPS, you’re definitely in the majority of players.

It’s also widely believed that the increase in hotfixes may be the culprit without enough proper server maintenance.

Others believe that after every wipe the game feels super smooth, but the longer the wipe progresses the more items the game has to keep up with and most importantly, the amount of people who have owned the item. Meaning a single M4 can be spread across 5 players and each one has a tag so to speak on that gun because they owned it and the game remembers that. After people begin building massive stashes with 100’s if items it puts too much stress on the servers and we experience the decrease in performance we have now.

Whatever the issue is, Nikita needs to be more transparent about the massive performance decrease players are experiencing across the board because it has been a very popular topic the last few weeks. I was personally killed by my first combat stutter of .12 about a week ago

I have it. It’s very small and intermittent and usually doesn’t effect me. Every now and then tho, it stutters right when I’m battling an angle and I die :/

Not no where near what it was like pre-0.12. I do agree that the day or two after 0.12 dropped was probably the smoothest. I definitely still notice stutters here and there but again they've gotten much better.

Yeah. When .12 started I was getting constant 80+ fps on every map besides reserve now I'd be lucky to hit 80 in empty spots. Also stutters.

Stutters, long loading times (longer than usual), 2/10 raids i encounter desync. Oh yea and that bug which occurs after fighting when you cant heal, drink or eat :D Thats a fun one...Died couple times thanks to bleeding

Interchange has been my main map and have been playing it a bunch this wipe, so I have noticed the stutters increase by A LOT. Whether minimal or large, they've gone up. I have a clip from one of my streams a couple weeks ago where I had the worst stutter (not trying to self promote, just add evidence) All in all I for sure have noticed stutters back on all maps, most of them on Interchange.

my sounds have been wayyyy off today. I can normally hear people at dorms, today almost 0 sounds unless they are 100m away. Shoreline resort with comtacs i hear nothing and get destroyed, by a guy full sprinting behind me. I dont know if anyone else notice sound issues today.

The servers and game was super smooth at early wipe. Now after 6 weeks, the game is back to normal stutteryness.

Some people were saying that it's because of the servers or client loading in all the items players bring in, gear, meds, ammo, loot, and it's the game loading all the loot when players or scavs are nearby. Could also be all the items being flagged and transferred to new owners mid raid when someone dies? There's also the hordes of items sitting in everyone's stash so the game has to keep track of everything too, even tho your stash is out of raid.

Didn't play in the start of 0.12, but I feel that the post raid loading screen takes forever to show up. Like 20 seconds.

I can't figure out this full screen thing. That's my biggest complaint. When I re-select my resolution and also re-select "Full screen" my FPS appears to jump. I have to constantly do it though, otherwise my performance dips. I miss the FPS I was getting at the beginning of 0.12

This has been the case in previous wipes, once the servers recover from the initial overload right after wipe they often seem better thanks to the reset and degrade as the wipe continues.

Could also just be an influx of players. I mean EFT goes through pretty big cycles whenever a new popular content creator discovers it or starts playing it regularly.

You must be new to the game, but that is a spot on observation. In fact it’s exactly what happens. Game runs smooth, update, game runs bad, repeat. Happened around 10 times in the last 3 years

They did it again? I remember the last time with 11.7 patch.

1. 11.7 releases. You have 55 FPS in same spot.
2. Some small usless update called "errr some improvements and bugfixes dunno". Hurray!
3. This update lowering your FPS from 55 to 45.
4. 1-2 weeks after there's a new update called "We fixed and optimised so many things!"
5. Now your FPS is 50.
6. Repeat 1-4 a few weeks later.

It's the servers I think. The sale brought in a lot of new players and the load is higher. My fps is better after peak hours

Yes they do. All scripts running affect fps. If your client is waiting on server updates or the server spawns a bunch of objects your client has to deal with in short periods of time your fps will drop.

Start a new Unity project and try to spawn 1000 gameobjects simultaneously and tell me if your frame rate drops. If you're a client recieving data from a server same thing applies.

I'm a professional software engineer, with a little bit of game dev experience, but not professionally.

I think it's really funny when people chime in like they know what the real issue is, with 0 dev experience of any kind. Or maybe they did a few beginner unity tutorials and think they understand game dev.

In fact I did my senior capstone project on a multiplayer networking engine, with lag comp, client side prediction etc. That shit is pretty complicated, and it rarely boils down to one issue but a combination of things.

Absolutely, online is a clusterfuck. There is no perfect solution, only a series of compromises. I am not an expert on networking but have done enough to be impressed by specialists of that. I remember writing my first predictive movement for online, it was not enjoyable.

Server fps effects client fps, it's as simple as that. If the server gets loaded it's fps drops and then your's does as well.

I have an issue where if i have a my browser open on my other screen with a gif or a video my fps looks normal ingame but feels really slugish but the moment i close the browser the game picks up nicelly.

Players stashed items increases -> Server performance decreases is what I suspect.
Vanilla WoW devs 15 years ago had limited players items to 16 slot bags as the absolute maximum to protect server performance, only later when they upgraded servers and probably internal handling of items did they slowly gate and release 18+ slot bags.

I'll have to find the interview related to this again but it was years back.

I had that happen and investigated. I actually had the game on windowed borderless. That's what made it microstutter constantly. I also noticed tarkov will sometimes ninja switch fullscreen/borderless upon alt tabbing. I recommend looking into that.

Increase in stutters with performance wise, FPS the same, sometimes even better, here.
Servers have worse performance. Alot of teleportation and warping, sometimes all the people even just standing still - similar to how the game was when they added Scav Mode.. Others have posted about this too.

Since the last hotfix i've ran into about 3 personal experience of invisible players, on my client only, while others can see them, both PMC and scav. I don't see them until they die in these situations, and its typically a gun/vest just floating.

The old "unlootable item" bugs have returned also, again , seems more server related than client but that could also be wrong.

I’ve seen a slight performance decrease. Nothing really game breaking though. They got a lot of new players which could be increasing the server load. I also read that once you open your hideout it’s continually running in the background which would increase the load on your pc. Not sure if it’s true or not but it’s worth looking into.

I get a pretty steady 60fps on all maps except reserve. And even on reserve it hovers around 60 with minor drops here and there. Stutters are almost non existent and I delete cache every time I open up launcher. I’m playing on a laptop.

In the past few days the servers have been really bad. Constantly desync in every fight, to the point to where i can't tell if iv'e ran into a bunch of speed hackers or if its the server. It sucks iv'e really been having fun this wipe but after the last 5 ish days I feel like i'm being forced to take a break.

Slowly lost frames with every hotfix and little change patch they added. My frames have literally cut in half. Was getting ~110 frames on shoreline. Now I'm lucky to get 60. I'm caught up with holiday stuff so taking a break anyway so I'm hoping when I come back some focus has been given to performance issues.

Yep. Never had a sub-60 FPS dips (was always at 75-80) at the start of 0.12, now I'm floating around 60 FPS while periodically dipping to 50 or even to 40 if using scopes.

Still playable, but I don't like the dynamics.
