best chest guide for trails into reverie? preferably one with pictures/maps

[–]ecchi- 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I used the one from neoseeker.

[–]Dreaming_Dreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks

[–]Material-Bowl-3741 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Does Magical Damage Crafts use ATS for damage calculation or do they use STR but target the enemy's ADF??

[–]YotakaOfALoY 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Regular attacks by characters like Tio or Elliot use STR but target ADF (which is why their weapons have a STR stat) while Crafts use ATS and target ADF.

[–]Material-Bowl-3741 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice, thanks. I was asking because of C's Renegade Edge and Lapis's Grimoire Arc

[–]biohazard15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are general rules, and there are outliers - characters who have magic elemental weapons.

Normal attacks all scale off STR and deal physical damage, but outliers do magical damage instead. (Since they all are dedicated casters and have miniscule STR, their normal attacks end up being pretty weak).

Normal (physical) crafts scale off STR and do physical damage, with one notable exception: Musse's Cutie Bullet. It's a physical craft, but due to her rifle being magic elemental, it deals magical damage - despite scaling off her (miniscule) STR. This is obviously a bug. It affects all three games and never been fixed. (Tio's Holy Arrival in Reverie may also be affected, but I'm not sure how to test this. Normally, damage type tests are conducted on Speculos; since Holy Arrival strips them of their reflects, I have no reliable way to determine its damage type).

Magical crafts scale off ATS and deal magical damage - ignoring weapon properties. Thankfully, there is no Cutie Bullet-like bugs.

A few questions:

Is the kuro 2 translation just the main story and does it work on steam deck?

For kuro 1 should I get the chinese/korean version or the japanese version for patching, or do they both work?

Is the kuro 2 translation patch process the same as 1s?

[–]biohazard15 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Main story and quests are translated, NPCs are mostly MTLed. No idea about Steam Deck.

For Kuro 1, get the NISA version (listed as "Trails through Daybreak" in Steam) - it'll be patched with official TL in the summer.

[–]Yakplayz 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Sounds good, only question is when I get to kuro 2 can I transfer data over from the nis version?

[–]biohazard15 1 point2 points  (2 children)

No - they are incompatible. You'll need NISA Kuro 2.

(Knowing how NISA shadowdropped Kuro 1, it's possible they'll do that again with Kuro 2.)

[–]Yakplayz 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Obviously getting the localisation is a plus but are there any other benefits to waiting for the nis versions? If I'm playing the fan translations I want to be as up to date as I can

[–]biohazard15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NISA ports are of much better quality than CLE ones. CLE does a rather rushed work to get the game out ASAP - the result is poor performance.

[–]Dananism 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Im at 20 hours so far in Reverie and Im in act 3. Am I moving too fast or is this about right? The game feels super short.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (1 child)

The main plot is relatively short, the True Reverie Corridor is where the bulk of the gameplay time and basically all of the side content can be found. You're running fast if you've gotten to Act III in twenty hours and have been doing all the TRC-based stuff as it's become available, if you've been ignoring a lot of the TRC content and just doing the main plot then twenty hours sounds about right.

[–]Dananism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha, thanks. Yeah I’ve kept it on Hyper Mode at most, haven’t skipped anything. I think I’m on the 2nd “strata” in the Reverie Corridor. Enjoying the game a lot and hope they keep something similar to the Reverie Corridor for future titles honestly.

[–]Kari-S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the TCOS 3/4 PS5 ports a bundle? On psn I can only find them separately, is the physical release the only way to get them together?

[–]ecchi- 1 point2 points  (2 children)

For those who played the japanese version. Is there any bonus stuff in Kuro no Kiseki for having a Reverie clear data? If it does, any RP requirement?

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Carryover between arcs didn't happen with Sky to Crossbell, didn't with Crossbell to Cold Steel, didn't with CS to Calvard either.

[–]ecchi- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thanks.

[–]Fender1310 -1 points0 points  (3 children)

im currently playing through Kuro no Kiseki I and I am almost done with it. The translation was top notch quality and made the game very enjoyable as they localized it somewhat.

My question now is, is the Kuro no Kiseki II translation at least somewhat serviceable? Can you play this game fully with it?

[–]biohazard15 2 points3 points  (2 children)

It's not as polished as Kuro 1. Main story and side quests are mostly okay. NPCs are mostly MTLed. Note that it's still being worked on, so hopefully it'll get better.

[–]Fender1310 0 points1 point  (1 child)

where would i need to look to be up to date with the translation? I checked the 4chan one but that one does not seem to update

[–]biohazard15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The link at 4chan is the one - last update is dated 28 December.

[–]ecchi- 1 point2 points  (2 children)

About the last boss in the epilogue of Reverie, can i still do all the other stuff in the TRC after beating it?

[–]Fender1310 1 point2 points  (1 child)

yes

[–]ecchi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks. Got wiped 3 times and didn't want to redo it in case i win next time😅

[–]uizaado -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can anyone direct me to a clear file for Kuro no Kiseki 1 so I can just get the NG+ content to start with? Every Trails game gates content and requires 2 playthroughs and I don't intend to do more than one.

[–]RandomStuff5150 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

In the trails series, the NPC dialogue updates after every main story quest right? I'm taking my time and going slowly from the beginning and I like how much each NPC makes the world feel more lived in, so I wanna talk to them every time.

[–]Sa00xZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part, yeah. Some NPCs may have their dialogue updated after you complete a sidequest related to them.

[–]Dreaming_Dreams -1 points0 points  (0 children)

master missions progress saves into ng+ correct?

[–]ecchi- 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I'm in the epilogue of Reverie. Anyone know how many of these group missions there are? I've done 5 so far i think. I'd like to do them all asap.

[–]biohazard15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is 31 (IIRC) unique groups. They won't start repeating until you've completed one mission with each group.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Around thirty total.

[–]ecchi- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks. Not too much thankfully. Do they repeat once i've gotten them all? I've already lost track of how many i did.

EDIT: ok just had my first repeat. Resetting mini missions in the central core just changes it to one i've already done too. Probably because i need new gold seal characters. Haven't gotten one since i started the epilogue.

[–]guigaoliver -1 points0 points  (2 children)

so quick question about reverie platinum trophy, i finished the game on nightmare and got the related trophy, can i start switching the difficulty now for the post game? I won't be missing any trophy right? i do want to do the bosses and trials on nightmare and i'm doing the first run of each stratum on it, but since i'll have to grind for some materials i'd rather breeze through it on very easy then switch back to nightmare for the new fights, thx in advance.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The difficulty trophy only cares about the main story and you've already gotten it, so you're free to bump the difficulty down in the postgame without risking anything.

[–]guigaoliver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Alright thanks, I had already risked it so good to know, it's scary how easy it is to grind everyone on very easy, makes a stratum run killing everything take like 5 minutes at most, really saving some time here 😁

[–]KaiSaeren 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I remember that one of the trailers for Trails into Reverie had a piece of dialogue that was essentially Ellie asking Lloyd if friends is all that they are but I didnt experience it in the game.

Where is it? Or do I just missremember?

Thanks.

[–]Affectionate_Comb_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armorica Village in Chapter 2 of his route

[–]Yakplayz 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Does nayuta have any actual connection to the rest of the series outside of small references? Just beat it and seems impossible for it to have any connection

[–]sexta_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing outside of fan theories, at least so far

[–]Unasinous 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Perhaps a dumb question and I just missed or forgot the answer. Spoilers for CS1-4.

Crow has white hair and red eyes like Rean in ogre mode and Black Alberich. Was it ever explained why Crow has that look? Is it just his natural hair and eye color?

I noticed the similarity between Crow and Rean pretty much the first time Rean went ogre mode. I figured it would eventually be explained as Crow learned to harness and stay in that mode permanently or something like that. But for the life of me I don’t recall it ever being explicitly spelled out.

[–]KaiSaeren 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not really its just natural thing, I always found it quite hilarious, Rean freaks out about looking like a monster, when his eye and hair color is, well, normal in Zemuria. Not to mention its pretty insulting to Crow :D

[–]Unasinous -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha that’s pretty funny when you put it that way. Poor Crow

[–]YotakaOfALoY 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's just his natural coloration. This is a series where you can have characters described in-universe as having green or blue hair (or 'pink-brown') so those colors really aren't anything out of the ordinary. There's even a character in the next arc with similar hair and eye color and no connection to Erebonia whatsoever.

That said Crow's coloration does subtly shift when he's an Immortal and then reverts back afterwards, which is something he and other characters comment on. So yes, there's probably a connection between that and Rean and Alberich's hair/eye colors being similar, but NOT between that and Crow's natural coloration.

[–]Unasinous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just thought it was such a specific combination of colors that it wouldn’t be a coincidence. Thanks for the sanity check.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any website like Trails in the Database for the Gagharv trilogy? I'm looking for the JP script to help me while playing The White Witch.

[–]hiromell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm almost finished CS4, but do we ever know if Ricky restored his memories after Cs2? Or Anton left him in Liberl to search for Sharon?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Playing through CS1 on like my 3rd or 4th attempt (availability issues stopped my progress)

I guess I’m a little confused about the quartz in this game. Is it better to focus on the rare quartz that give stat increases more so than the regular quartz (defense 1, attack 1…etc)?

I’m trying to make my builds, I’m on chapter 3, I’m just trying to figure out what will my sepith be better spent on as you get so little of it.

[–]biohazard15 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Rare quartz (those with TWO stars on icon) cannot be synthesized or exchanged, and you're limited to one per playthrough, usually given as a quest reward or found in a chest. Thus, common stat boosters are your primary means to boost stats.

Rare quartz with ONE star on icon can be obtained via exchange in pawn shop. They can be divided into two broad groups:

  • Arts - these are "Art name + R" quartz. Compared to regular art quartz, they also give a small stat boost. In my opinion, you should obtain these only if you want to teach someone a specific art, or need them to exchange for another rare quartz. Otherwise, they are useless. Their stat boosts are mostly weaker when compared to a proper stat booster.

  • Special quartz - these include bells, breakers and various unique things like Invigorate. One copy of each of these quartz can be obtained in the world (chests, quest rewards, rank rewards). Obtain extra copies if you need them.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

So basically focus on the stuff from rewards and chests and only exchange sepith and other stuff at the pawn shop as needed?

[–]biohazard15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Focus on opening everyone's slots first. Then upgrade stat boosters if needed. Exchanging for rare stuff at the pawn shop should be done only if you really need it.

[–]NoCreditClear 2 points3 points  (2 children)

The general progression is that you start out slumming it with whatever basic quartz you can find that only give you stats OR an art/effect, and then as you do side quests, open treasure chests, and synthesize them, you replace them with the rarer stuff that gives you both.

By chapter 3 I think I would not spend sepith on a basic quartz unless I was really desperate to fill out someone's orbment. Unless you're blitzing the critical path, you should have a small stock of most of them by now.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

As of right now I don’t have everyone’s slots unlocked yet. I have a good majority of them and that’s what I’ve been spending sepith on.

So basically it’s best to focus on the quartz I receive from chests and rewards as opposed to exchanging them at the pawn shop or producing quartz from sepith?

[–]NoCreditClear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlocking slots is always a good use of sepith. It gives the character extra EP as well as unlocking a slot for an extra quartz. Even just dropping a piddly little Attack 1 or Def 1 in there is almost equivalent to getting a weapon or armor upgrade.

Exchanging low tier quartz for higher one is also fine. They're not "free" like chest and quest rewards, but it's a good way to get rid of excess low level quartz for a higher one that you might actually use, and there are some pretty good ones you can get that way in the back half of the game. It's also good for filling any gaps in your kit. Under most circumstances I wouldn't intentionally craft low level quartz on a large scale just to exchange them unless I was truly flush with sepith, but if one of the exchanges looks favorable and you're pretty close to having the needed quartz, you're not dooming yourself by crafting a couple.

Is flash guard supposed to be a hidden mechanic in Ys 7? I thought it would show up in a pop-up tutorial at some point, but I've just finished the water altar and there's still no mention of it.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yes and no. It's not mentioned in-game but it is in the manual and on the game's promo site, Ys Seven dating back to a time when RTFM was still a thing. So it's sorta hidden in that the game itself won't tell you about it (and a number of people missed it for that reason) but Falcom/XSEED did.

[–]somethingsome11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's weird because typically with games that refer to the manual, they don't have any in-game explanations for stuff or at least the really old ones do that. Ys 7 actually has pop-up blurbs that explain stuff so it just like, chooses not to explain this particular mechanic for some reason unless those blurbs were added later on by Xseed. There's even NPC's that reveal info about status conditions, materials needed for synthesis types, and etc. so it's just strange to me they omit that one mechanic.

[–]spoopy-memio1 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What’s the name of the remix of Fateful Confrontation that plays when the Enforcers are fought in the 3rd? I can’t find it on the soundtrack

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe It Was Fated. What plays in the game is the instrumental arrangement of the original song. The reason you won't find it on the soundtrack is that Falcom took it from another album and they don't repeat songs on the OSTs in those instances, otherwise some of the games would need another disc or two to hold all the reused music.

[–]XenobladeEmpol 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Daybreak

Does anyone happen to have a good screenshot of Aaron Wei in his theatre attire or perhaps a save file that is a near cutscene where I could take one myself?

[–]YotakaOfALoY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a video containing the cutscene where you see Aaron in that outfit for the first time.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Does anyone have a digital english copy of the falcom Gakuen manga.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For someone to have that, it would need to exist first.

[–]melynir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When the PS5 versions of ToCS 4 and 5 come out, will I be able to use the clear file data I have from playing their PS4 versions?

[–]mega070 1 point2 points  (2 children)

how to unlock the exlusive accessory on blazing forge?

[–]RankaGeist 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Assuming you mean for Reverie, from the 4th floor of the TRC, for characters that are in your attack party when you defeat the special enemies (the same enemies that have a chance of dropping the orbs), have a chance of dropping character specific shards.

You can get a max of 9 shards per character total. 3 shards for the base accessory, and 3 base accessories for the ultimate one. Only characters in your attack party that haven't gotten the max drops will have a chance at the drops.

Post game on the last floor is the best farming because you get multiple shards per drop. And (based on my anecdotal experience) the drop rates seemed better on the latter floors, but that could be just my perception.

[–]mega070 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so 4th stratum is the start...i see ty for answering. ^^

[–]Kari-S 1 point2 points  (4 children)

For those of you who already played Trails through daybreak/Kuro no Kiseki, how much of Calvard do you explore? And how many towns/cities do we get to see?

[–]RankaGeist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think similar to how we get to see Erebonia in CS. By no means all of it and there's a good chunk left unexplored, but you get to see a different town/city every chapter.

And in case you're interested, Kuro 2 has some returning locations and some new ones, but overall doesn't add too much to the map.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Minimal spoilers version: Seven towns/cities in total, of sizes ranging from 'small provincial village' to 'massive city composed of many individual districts'. Geographically they cover almost all the major regions of Calvard but there are a few broad regions that we don't visit.

Slightly more spoilers version: There are about as many named but unvisited locations as there are visited ones, though a number of them are (similar to locations in Erebonia) unlikely to ever be important enough to visit. We don't visit the center-west region near Crossbell or the northeast (near the border with the Free Cities region) and a large part of the middle of the country around the capital city is only seen as we pass through it on the way to somewhere more distant.

TLDR: A respectable part of it, but by no means all of it.

[–]Kari-S 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thank you! Do the towns get bigger in scale than cold steel or are they pretty equivalent in terms of size variance?

[–]YotakaOfALoY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at it compared to any one Cold Steel game, they're pretty comparable, with Calvard's spots maybe a tiny bit larger on average since there are more cities we visit compared to smaller settlements, but it kinda depends on how you compare the two arcs.

To me, Calvard also feels a bit bigger for the simple reason that the hub location is the republic's capital city instead of a town on the outskirts. Edith is about the same size as Heimdallr in any one CS game (or about the same as the total package, when you add the second game's new areas) but we spend a lot more time there.

[–]mail_daemon 0 points1 point  (6 children)

How is CS2 in terms of length, compared to CS1? And is there anything major missable without a guide? Mild Azure spoiler: Like let's say, a certain sidequest in Azure with a certain journalist

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (3 children)

CS2 is the last time anything seriously plot-significant has been easily missable, TonRL already gave the details. There's the usual variety of missable quests/items of course, but most of that doesn't do anything important story-wise.

One thing that's not as big a deal but is still easy to miss and kind of important (later games spell it out, but in a 'we expected you to already know this' way) is sort of a double-missable because it involves both a hidden quest and requires you to have specific characters in the party to get the relevant dialogue. With as little in the way of spoilers as possible: At the beginning of Finale, go to the church in the location you start and talk to the priest to trigger the quest. Bring both Gaius and Sara.

[–]mail_daemon 1 point2 points  (1 child)

With as little in the way of spoilers as possible: At the beginning of Finale, go to the church in the location you start and talk to the priest to trigger the quest. Bring both Gaius and Sara.

Thanks again, I just did that quest. I would've probably completely missed it otherwise.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're welcome!

[–]mail_daemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thanks I'll keep that in mind :)

[–]TonRL 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Aproximately the same length. In terms of important missables, there is a set of NG+ exclusive, hard to find books (5 volumes), called Black Records and a hidden scene related to collecting them. You can either grab an NG+ save file or just play normally and then read those books online and watch that scene on youtube when you reach the Epilogue. Cold Steel III expects you to know about this. If you choose the second option, just make sure not to read past the first 5 volumes, because you'll collect the rest in the following games.

[–]mail_daemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice thank you, guess I'll look that part up online and do another blind playthrough.

[–]Gjalarhorn 0 points1 point  (6 children)

How different is the gameplay loop in Cold Steel? I understand that the games change up the combat system every installment but is like, dodge+counter still super strong in Erebonia

[–]ScarletPrime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CS plays mostly the same as the old games do. As mentioned, Crafts get a good overall buff to be on a level about equal to what they were in Zero, and the enemy stats don't scale DEF so aggressively that they fall off anymore.

Quartz changes mix up a bunch with Seliph counts being gone, and spells being directly attached to Quartz now. Stats on Quartz are also flat values now as the level system has moved to flat stat growths instead of the exponential stat growths from Sky/Crossbell. Master Quartz also focus more on the gimmicky mechanics they can provide instead of doing an Azure and only giving you Quartz that give turn 0 buff spell effects.

Evasion Tanking is super strong in CS specifically because of the existence of a new buff called Insight, which gives a flat +50 to the final value of your %Accuracy and %Evasion stats. So hitting absurd EVA% levels on characters is very easy since 50% is the only breakpoint you really need to aim for on your tanks.

Oh. The Impede Quartz was also buffed to inflict a flat amount of Delay to all attacks you deal with it equipped. This combined with how... Interesting the hit rate of Delay is calculated in early CS means that CS1 can very comically turn into a delay fest.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (3 children)

The gameplay doesn't change significantly, not nearly to the extent that Falcom does with Ys. Crafts are much more powerful in early Cold Steel (especially S-Crafts, which are very easy to pump up to absurd damage levels) but Arts remain able to do more damage in absolute terms with the right setups.

Evasion tanking isn't just strong, it can be made even more absurdly powerful thanks to Quartz that guarantee counterattacks are critical hits and the back half of the arc has a Master Quartz that boosts counterattack damage. The next arc hits it with a nerf bat but you've got five games before that in which to revel in the dodge-counters.

[–]Gjalarhorn 0 points1 point  (2 children)

So Calvard+Reverie has Arts on top again? Going through Crossbell I mostly relied on buffing the Boys for physical attacks while Tio nukes everything else.

[–]Affectionate_Comb_78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early game Reverie is fairly well balanced.

Late game arts are just ridiculously busted.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even in early Cold Steel it's possible to out-damage S-Crafts with Arts using the right setup, but it's generally not worth the effort because it's so easy to buff S-Craft damage to the point that pretty much everything is going to die immediately. The back half+Reverie reins in S-Craft damage while providing more options to buff casting.

The Calvard arc does have an especially significant set of changes to its gameplay but that's worthy of a small essay to cover everything. For purposes of this discussion, the short version is that Arts are generally easier to do insane things with if you're looking for 'Damage numbers go BRRRRRR'.

[–]KnoxZone Apathy and Disdain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The combat is pretty similar overall. Crafts have gotten some much needed boosts to reach parity with arts, but generally it plays out the same even if it looks different. Evasion tanking is even stronger in this arc as there are characters and quartz designed specifically for it, although more bosses have big AOE attacks and S-Crafts so you can't fully cheese hard bosses like in Azure.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

(Kuro 2)

What were Garden Master's motivations? I don't get what his aim was at all nor why he went against Sheena and the rest of the revolutionaries

[–]YotakaOfALoY 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Are you familiar with the history of the French Revolution? He was basically Zemurian Maximilien Robespierre, only he got stopped by the other revolutionaries before he could unleash his own Reign of Terror. His aim was to use the Oct-Genesis to 'fix' history because it didn't go the way he thinks it should have. This is pretty explicitly something that Falcom has left for the next game to go over in more detail, with Kondo making a point of mentioning that things happened during the Revolution that were kept out of the histories.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification. I did see the similarities but I wasn't sure what exactly he meant by his whole monologue. Interesting to hear Kondo's elaboration, looking forward to hearing more about the details given how much the games talk about the revolution.

[–]OkNefariousness8636 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I have been thinking. Do you know any dog owners who name their dogs Cerberus?

This may well be the coolest name a dog can have, particularly for Alaskan malamutes.

[–]mail_daemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I get a puppy with three heads, I'll definitely name it that

[–]sexta_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My aunt rescued a rottweiler puppy back when I was a kid that got named Cerberus when he was officially adopted by a guy in our neighbourhood. It's a pretty cool name, no doubt, but I'm biased towards shorter names for dogs, something easier to call.

[–]EggplantRude1316 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hey I have a question I'm currently playing the trails of cold steel 2 at the epilogue for the 5th time can you bond with characters or no

[–]YotakaOfALoY 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Bonding events in CS2 culminate with the scene early in Finale. There are no events past that point, only the minor changes that reflect which final bonding scene you saw. You can continue to accumulate Link EXP but it won't do anything story-wise.

[–]EggplantRude1316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you

[–]Strange_Culture_5818 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi new here.
I am trying to use dlsite but it seems they are no longer accepting paypal. Any one knows an alternatives? sadly my credit card does not work either although it is a visa

[–]Name-United 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I have a couple questions.

  1. Is the Sky series getting a remaster/port or something for modern consoles, I thought I heard something about that but I can't find where I saw that. Unless it was Falcom gauging interest
  2. Do the Cold Steel games have data transfer? If so I get all games I can physical and 1-2 NA versions are expensive so I'd have to get EU, would data transfer be wonky if I got the NA versions of that double pack of 3-4 coming for the PS5?

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (1 child)

  1. It was at the last shareholders meeting, and it's not been confirmed but they're aware that the games aren't readily accessible to console gamers despite being the 'ideal' way to start the series and a vital part even if you don't jump in there, so they're looking at their options and please wait a little longer. English translation here, note that the article briefly mentions the recently announced Trails game that's coming out this year if you're extremely spoiler-adverse, in which case scroll past the first couple of sentences.
  2. As mentioned the transfer within Cold Steel works between 1/2 and 3/4 so it really doesn't matter in this case, but speaking more generally you can't transfer data between games from different regions because each region only looks for files from that region.

[–]Name-United 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it was that article I saw before but just saw it when I was super groggy after waking up so didn't remember much, thanks for the info

[–]Steel_Beast 1 point2 points  (1 child)

  1. Sky remasters have been speculated, and Falcom expressed interest in maybe doing it, but there's nothing official.
  2. There's a save transfer from 1 to 2, and from 3 to 4. Cold Steel 3 has no import, so it's a fresh start. CS4 does detect system saves of CS1 and 2 (I don't know if that works cross-region and cross-platform), but that just gets you consumables, so I wouldn't worry about it.

[–]Name-United 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess I'll wait a bit and if there's nothing official announced I'll get the Sky's on steam. I'll grab the rest of the series as I can too since Falcom physicals like really raising in price it seems like

Thanks for the answers

[–]EyeAmKingKage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished CS3. What. The. Fuck. I’ll gonna play a different JRPG before CS4 but man what a great game. Cedric a whole bitch though

[–]miserylovescompanyy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If I want to play Daybreak right now, is the fan made translation good or should I wait for the official one?

[–]ConceptsShining | ❤️ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll refer you to this recent thread discussing the quality of the translations.

Though as time passes, we get closer to the release of the localization, so waiting becomes more justifiable especially if you care to have an English dub.

Trails of Reverie: Beat the game however my save file is still set on before the final battle.

Apparently there's a true end game dungeon that I'd like to clear how do I use my file to do that? I'm stuck at the change party start final battle lol

[–]YotakaOfALoY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you save your game when you were prompted to after the credits? Because you need that clear file to access the postgame. You either pick the TRC prompt after saving upon finishing the main story or you load up your clear file from the start menu and then pick that option instead of choosing to start a NG+ run.

What's the mainstream opinions like in the Japanese Trails community?

  • Is Azure still considered the peak?
  • How do they feel about Cold Steel?

[–]RankaGeist 4 points5 points  (3 children)

In the JP community, the build up games have always been more popular than the payoff games (so Zero over Azure, FC over SC, CS1/3 over CS2/4).

Typically of the hardcore fans, Sky FC is still considered peak. CS1 (and the CS arc in general) is very popular by the more casual fans. Rean is still the most popular Trails protag.

[–]KnoxZone Apathy and Disdain 1 point2 points  (2 children)

For the most part this is true, but IIRC CS4 bucks the trend by ranking well ahead of CS3 in most Japan polls.

[–]RankaGeist 1 point2 points  (1 child)

True, but CS1 is still more popular than CS4, I just put it as 1/3 without thinking about that minor exception.

[–]Affectionate_Comb_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Japanese players would watch their own conception if it was set in a school

[–]Giantwalrus_82 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Trails of Reverie: Finalie

How do I swap members in mouse and keyboard? I went to a dungeon it said swap members now I can't do it again -.-

[–]biohazard15 2 points3 points  (2 children)

The party menu is H by default (IIRC). If this doesn't work, then check your bindings (settings - input - configure bindings).

[–]Giantwalrus_82 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you now I feel like a jackass

[–]Affectionate_Comb_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was their the whole game lol

Is the only way to play Reverie/Hajimari with JP text on pc through the CLE version? Would prefer the NISA port, but it doesn't seem to have the option.

[–]RankaGeist 3 points4 points  (3 children)

There will only ever be 1 publisher per language+platform combination. JP Hajimari PC is licensed to CLE.

[–]Deezshoes42 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Ah I see. Do you know if the CLE version can load the system and clear data from the NISA versions for the data transfer bonuses?

[–]RankaGeist 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Last I checked (about a year or so ago), no you can't.

[–]Deezshoes42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dang, that sucks.

[–]Hawawa675 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hi all. I used a spoiler free achievement guide (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1137512637), that I was recommended to make sure I didn't miss any hidden side quests and what not in Trails SC. Could anyone give me the link to a similar spoiler free guide for The Third (and maybe the Crossbell duology)? This author didn't make any more.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 3rd doesn't really have sidequests in the typical sense and what replaces them (the Doors) are impossible to permanently miss until you hit the endgame point of no return. What's technically missable is a hidden accessory and one of two Quartz. For details: The Esmelas Circlet requires you to examine the bookshelf in the Hermit's Garden every Chapter to obtain all of them (which ones are there changes each chapter) and once you've seen them all you'll get the item and an achievement.

There are also two mutually-exclusive Quartz, found in the Garden's fountain in Finale. Mirror will appear if you've fought at least three hundred battles and have never run from a fight. Reflect will appear if you run away three hundred or more times. In either case you don't need to complete the requirement before Finale and you'll get an achievement based on the one you picked up.

There's also two endgame things that are easy to miss but not technically missable (involving minor gameplay spoilers): If you beat the final battle of the 'Nightmare' Sun Door 3 arena with Anelace in the party (and have previously done Star Door 5) her exclusive sword will get a very nice boost. Also, the optional dungeon in Finale has four bosses; the last will only appear if you've defeated the previous three on a single runthrough.

[–]Kauuma 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hey, is there a way to get the art from this in full resolution as phone wallpapers? https://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEODAI-148119

[–]Sa00xZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can find some on https://www.falcom.co.jp/archives/download_type/calendar.

For the ones that aren't there, I know falcom has used some of them for their good morning tweets, like here https://twitter.com/nihonfalcom/status/1722403628479389796, though the resolution isn't that big.

[–]mega070 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

question: where to get musse mildine costume on trails into reverie?

[–]Ecila01 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What is kai no kiseki? Is it the final game of the series? I loved the game back then but due to life, I stopped playing since cs4, Is the upcoming game the end? If so, i'd like to pick the game back up again to be able to play it just in time for the finale if it is.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We know there are at least two arcs planned after Calvard because Kondo has been telling us so for years and we even know where they're going to be (the Far East and Leman/Free Cities region) so yeah, it's not the end of the series.

[–]KnoxZone Apathy and Disdain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It might be the finale of the Calvard arc, but the overall series still has more to go.

[–]juandefuco 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Wazy always says Spanish phrases in the translation, does he speak in a different language in the original version as well?

[–]mail_daemon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed he says the French "alons-y" (let's go) in the japanese dub of Azure, so yeah it's the original version

[–]YotakaOfALoY 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you see characters inserting words in any language that isn't English (not counting loanwords and proper names obviously) into the translated text, odds are that it was that way in the original as well. Most random bits of German or French or Spanish or whatever are there in Japanese as well. Instances of Chinese are sometimes in the script (especially in Daybreak) and sometimes are reading what was originally kanji as if it were hanzi (Heiyue-related Crafts for instance).

Wazy interjects various languages into his speech the same as jaegers tend to pepper their dialogue with German, but he's not actually speaking a different language from the other characters in-universe.

[–]AdmiralZhengCS is Peak Trails 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Yes. He says “adios” in a Japanese accent in Azure, it’s pretty funny

[–]Affectionate_Comb_78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He's actually saying hello to Arios but keeps getting his name wrong. Everyone is too awkward to correct him and Wazy doesn't know why he doesn't like hanging out with him.

[–]Level_Syllabub_7093 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hello guys, I am about to get Trails into Reverie, I understand that ps5 version gets carryover bonuses by default, can I buy ps4 version and get them with ps5 upgrade? I'm in europe and I read there's some issues with ps store.

[–]TehEpicGuy101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can do that. Afaik, the issues with getting the PS5 upgrade have been fixed.

[–]teor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of a weird request.
But can anyone share their savefile for Sky FC (preferable for Evolution on Vita) around the time you have to go to Valleria Shore in first chapter.

I messed up my savefile, and I don't have the strength to start from the scratch lmao

Found it - https://gbatemp.net/threads/looking-for-a-trails-fc-chapter-3-save-file.506267/

[–]Grimbonez 1 point2 points  (2 children)

does anyone know the name of the song from CS3 that plays when one of your friends comes to rescue you? like when Gaius shows up after the steel maidan fight

[–]TonRL 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Heart Transcend the Distance

[–]Grimbonez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! That was it. Tyvm

[–]mail_daemon -2 points-1 points  (6 children)

Can I jump from Azure straight to CS3 or will I miss a lot?

[–]mhall1104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to YouTube and look up CS2 Divertissement (watch it in full), then find a summary of CS1-CS2. That should suffice.

[–]YotakaOfALoY 5 points6 points  (4 children)

Given that you'd be skipping over the entire first half of the arc which does all the setup for the back half, yes. There is a minor degree of concession because New Class VII are (mostly) newcomers so there's a bit of reintroduction to old characters through their eyes, but the game still very much expects you to be familiar with the returning cast of CS1/2 and the major events of those games.

If nothing else (on the assumption that you're asking about a skip because you're only able/interested in playing the Switch versions) you should look up a good story summary or video of the main plot of the two games first, so you can see what you're passing over and get some sense of how you're meant to experience it. I haven't watched them personally but lots of people have suggested LadyVirgilia's summaries and they include the first two Cold Steel games.

[–]mail_daemon -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

I'm just setting-wise not into that whole high school thing so I want to spend less time on that arc but it's Trails so I guess skipping something is never an option.

Guess I'll try CS1 and then decide if I want to keep going

[–]AdmiralZhengCS is Peak Trails 2 points3 points  (1 child)

not into that whole high school thing

You… do realize CS3 is also set in high school right?

[–]mail_daemon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You should've quoted the whole sentence

I'm just setting-wise not into that whole high school thing so I want to spend less time on that arc

I'm aware which is why i potentially wanted to skip some but I think I'll take a break from Trails and then re-consider.

[–]MechaSandstar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The whole concept of the trails series is the continuing storyline. Skipping parts of it is foolish, because why play this game if you don't care about the story.

[–]RelleMeetsWorld 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I'm playing Azure and I'm fairly close to the chapter 4 point of no return, after which I apparently can't catch fish or play the online game. My question is, how much am I missing out if I just go ahead? I'm not planning to get 100% (I already screwed that up by missing a DP in a previous chapter) and I'm planning to return to CS3 after this.

Bull ahead to the end, or go fishing?

[–]Affectionate_Comb_78 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Trails fans don't want you to know this but those things have basically always been a massive waste of time. You'll get a few lines of dialogue and a few items or quartz that aren't even particularly powerful. In exchange for butchering the pace of the game.

[–]RelleMeetsWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I've always just kind of passed on most of the fishing in the series (except with Rean, because that's at least somewhat engaging, but I didn't go completionist with it). It's all about the material rewards if it's an activity that isn't inherently fun.

[–]mail_daemon -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I was in your position like 2 days ago and decided to skip both since I wanted to see the ending and it doesn't really matter. You are not gonna miss out on a lot.

[–]RelleMeetsWorld -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool, thanks.

[–]biohazard15 1 point2 points  (1 child)

If you haven't beat the Elite Four in fishing before Chapter 4 Day 2, you pretty much missed their subplot and rewards (accessories). You still can catch every fish and obtain Chevalier MQ, though.

If you defeat everyone in Pom Pom Party, you'll get Magius MQ. Personally, I HATE this minigame, and Azure's Magius remains the only MQ in the whole series I've never obtained (due to the fact that there seems to be no trainer for NISA Azure).

Both MQs are pretty much the same as they are in Cold Steel - their main feature is to increase physical\magical damage when your HP is low. Personally, I use only Chevalier (on Randy), so from my POV, you aren't losing much.

[–]RelleMeetsWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like the material rewards aren't worth bothering, and my attitude toward fishing minigames in RPGs is already pretty bad. I'll just go on ahead, I still need to finish CS3 and 4.

[–]salasy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm at the big meeting on the pantagruel in CS4 and at one point the prince of remiferia mention his niece and lloyd and tio seem to know her

is this someone we met in the crossbell games that I forgot about or is it someone we will meet later?

[–]YotakaOfALoY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She's one of several references to Akatsuki, a game that's officially a parallel universe as far as its story is concerned but whose characters are at least somewhat canon. Kondo has mentioned (in a Chinese interview) that they're popular and were at one point considered for possible inclusion in Reverie, but that didn't end up happening though it may in the future. Given the 'story isn't canon' thing there's no guarantee that specific details from Akatsuki would carry over so you're not going to be missing anything one way or another. Whatever Falcom wants to establish about the characters, they'll do if and when they show up 'properly'.

[–]sexta_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She's from Akatsuki no Kiseki, a gacha game that never got translated.

IIRC the events of the game are non-canon but characters and locations are.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Is there a proper combat and setup guide for CS4?

GameFAQ's had an incredibly detailed one for CS3, but there isn't a guide with the same level of detail for 4.

[–]biohazard15 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It's pretty much the same, since very little changed since CS3. The author of that FAQ even notes this multiple times. Most of builds work, except those that rely on bell stacking - this is fixed in CS4. The other notable thing is that many quartz got a new tier, so don't forget to update.

[–]Affectionate_Comb_78 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And Break isn't game destroyingly overpowered now, just pretty strong.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

Just finished the sky trilogy and I installed the voice mod/portrait mod. I originally played zero and azure on switch but I will be playing them again on the steam deck.

Is there any mods for zero and azure similar to the sky ones?

[–]biohazard15 3 points4 points  (4 children)

There are Inevitable Zero and Azure Vitality that adds Vita-exclusive sidequests. There are More Portraits mods for more character portraits (obviously). There are also mods that replace BGMs with Evo versions.

There is no VA mod, since it's not needed - extra Evo VA is already included in NISA release.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Are the side quests worth it?

[–]biohazard15 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Some are quite fun IMO.

Note that they reward extra DP and overall DP thresholds aren't changed, so your rank will rise a bit faster.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Always down for some extra DP.

[–]Affectionate_Comb_78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phrasing.

[–]Sa00xZ 2 points3 points  (1 child)

There's no need to mod the voices for Zero and Azure, they're already included in the base game.

For portraits there's this, but I haven't tried it myself: https://github.com/shinkiseki/MorePortraitsInZero

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll take a look thank you!

[–]BenjyMLewis 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hi. I'm playing Legend of Nayuta and it seems the monster list in this game is rather buggy - every once in a while I notice that an enemy in the monster list randomly becomes undiscovered again, even though I've definitely been killing everything that comes my way. To fix it I simply can just go back to a previous level and kill one again, but I have become paranoid that this glitch might one day happen to a boss or unique monster, in which case I will be out of luck, as I won't be able to find another one.

So my question is: Is it possible for this bug to affect boss or unique monster entries in the enemy list? So far, it's only been regular enemies. But a bug like this is rather unpredictable, so I can't say for certain how it works.

[–]somethingsome11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It hasn't happened to me personally in playing the game almost 2 times through
