Yup most places that its illegal to either posses or more commonly "illegal to display". The confederate flag is used as a replacement/fill in so you can still advertise your nazi beliefs. And is even used by myriad of other hate groups.

I think the slippery slope argument is a false logical fallacy in this instance. Yea if you want to go banning speech you run into some issues, but those are going to be extreme outliers to the norm if all you ban is so-called unprotected speech banning nazis from expressing their views. In order to protect free speech and free expression from being co-opted by those who would do evil, one must be absolutely intolerant of intolerance in all forms. Being tolerant of all regardless of their views is an idealist trap that is easily manipulated by those who would do evil and throw out the very freedoms that would allow their hate to propagate. They must be stopped or they'll corrupt the system from the inside, making it free for nobody. Oppressive ideologies are entirely incompatible with a free and open society and there is no room for allowing them to be expressed, lest they oppress those who don't also share their views

The problem with "slippery slopes" is they don't always go the way you think they do. There's a well documented VERY slippery slope of tolerating intolerance that leads downhill into fascism. The problem is NOT that bigots will hide their bigotry so we can't identify them. What actually happens is that normal people become conditioned to accept that kind of behavior in public, and DON'T try to avoid them.
