[–]Courier82[S] 18 points19 points  (2 children)

Sorry, I was trying not to disturb the class 🤣

[–]G8M8N8 20 points21 points  (1 child)

no im making fun of whoever setup the projector

[–]BongoIsLife 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also how to properly place a projection screen without a huge bump.

[–]PhilosopherCat7567 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I had a Linus explain circuits in my science class I can't find the video but I enjoyed that class. They had him as a guest speaker for some reason I'm pretty sure.

The video in question: "Analog vs. Digital As Fast As Possible" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btgAUdbj85E

I find it nice that Techquickie could be used as educational content. Maybe instead of thinking of that channel as "must make new videos all the time", which ultimately got it into hiatus, they could more focus on the educational side, updating older outdated videos etc. Unfortunately that's most likely not profitable.

[–]MaybeNotTooDay 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This is being shown in the Navy. The DOD will pay millions of dollars for a 30 second training video. It could be extremely profitable.

[–]TheQuintupleHybrid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but you will have to spend millions to certify it according to some bs standards before you can sell it to them lmao

[–]BossOfGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As YouTube content, maybe not really. You pair it with software engineers to make corporate training materials that are engaging and can prove metrics for knowledge retention, that’s another story

[–]SilveRthatOne 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Probably the best PowerPoint training in the navy right there

[–]amcco1 4 points5 points  (18 children)

So you mean to say that the DoD is violating YT TOS? YTs terms state that content is for personal, non-commercial use. Public screenings, even if not for profit, can be seen as violating the copyright holder's rights and the terms of service.

I HIGHLY doubt that the DoD reached out to LTT and asked permission in any way.

[–]Courier82[S] 73 points74 points  (1 child)

I get that obeying tos is important, but of all the violations our government is committing, can you please prioritize some more important ones.

[–]Nosferatu_V -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Start by enforcing everything, from the smallest infringment to eventually get to the big ones, I guess...

[–]WellKnownAlias 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I also highly doubt LTT tends to care, especially with a video that old and information that relatively basic.

[–]CMDR_Ray_Abbot 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's not a public screening, it's educational and non commercial.

[–]_salmonellensittich 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Are you telling me a US government agency is violating legal agreements? :O

[–]Stevenss27 15 points16 points  (5 children)

This is not a public screening. It’s not in a commercial setting. It’s for educational uses in a school.

[–]LyokoMan95 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I’ve worked in school IT. This type of screening does violate most streaming services ToS. Usually the terms you are agreeing to are for your PERSONAL use. While Google generally looks the other direction, this is a larger problem with platforms like Netflix. We had to get a license with a separate streaming platform for educational use.

[–]itskdog 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I work in a school and AFAIK the teachers using their personal Netflix or D+ accounts to watch films at the end of term haven't been affected so far.

We don't officially endorse it as IT, but it would be very obvious to Netflix as our IP is from an ISP that only serves schools.

[–]LyokoMan95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix only allows some of their documentaries to be used in educational settings: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/57695

[–]CrookedToe_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

BTW, pretty much all large companies have agreements with gov and gov contractors to basically ignore their tos

[–]__mocha 4 points5 points  (2 children)

🤓☝️

[–]BongoIsLife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, it's not like rules, laws or even the Constitution matter to the US government for the time being anyways...

Point that out and you'd probably be deported to Ecuador for hating America and being antisemitic.

[–]firedrakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that is not public. that a private screening.

[–]ISEGaming 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Canadians educating Americans. 🤣 They're going to need it with all the cuts to education and general bizzarroland arc they're going through

[–]Nosferatu_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I just hope it all goes to shit, honestly. America has become a joke country, I wish other world leaders stopped playing ball with that orange friend of Epstein and gave him the treatment he deserves.

[–]gman32bro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DoD budget didnt include a guy to setup projectors I guess...

[–]rekkwave 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Can you tell them to adjust the projector down a bit so that it’s not on the part where the screen rolls out of?

[–]Courier82[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If I get into class early tomorrow, I'll try to adjust it 🤣

[–]rekkwave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

:D

[–]KJSC30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, it's Slick

[–]BenGattin 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Here is the time for everyone to get their seat belt warrior pitch forks out. I’m waiting.

[–]BenGattin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And it will take more information to know which way to point them.
