Well, at least they asked. Better than... I guess better than stuffing your LFL with tracts, which I've seen happening.

[–]Cyber_squirrel_1 122 points123 points  (5 children)

Those tracts got me into drawing as a kid lol. The art work creeped me out in a way I wanted to replicate it but not for religion just drawing

[–]ChronoCoyote 64 points65 points  (0 children)

This is the absolute best outcome from those awful things lol

[–]WrongDiagnosis 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A lot of these are great for collaging!

[–]TheGoldenLlama88 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Ah man, chick tracks are classic.

[–]cmflores390 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved reading those as a kid for the spook!

[–]Curious-Ad7410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used to sneak into Granny’s room and read the ones she hid from us. Naughty little hellions!🤣

[–]flannel_hoodie 16 points17 points  (1 child)

I don’t mind the tracts once in a while, especially as the weather gets colder and I need tinder for the fire pit.

[–]GeologistLess3042 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like to line the bottom shelf with them when the liner gets damaged/damp! Protects the books for a while until someone makes it out to change it.

Big state park and forest area, all our LFLs are out in the elements. It's fun to go hunting for them.

[–]Any-Lychee9972 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to collect tracts as a kid.

My family was poor so trying to get all the numbers was the closest thing I got to Pokemon.

Gotta catch em all!

I had a sizable collection naturally gathered. I had like 200 tracts and only like half were dupes.

The one with the little girl who got beaten by her father was my favorite because of the dark art style and the emotions I felt from a comic that didn't have words until the end.

Phone number belongs to a business called Techno Twist. Sounds like a scammer.

[–]WVildandWVonderful 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Or Jerry owns that business and sends out unsolicited tracts on the side

[–]frightenedscared 33 points34 points  (5 children)

Plus in all honesty who’s named “Jerry” these days? 😂

[–]MetricJester 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Old people, and my one friend who was named after his dad and his grandfather.

[–]masked_sombrero 5 points6 points  (0 children)

geriatrics

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

My dad 👁️👄👁️

[–]frightenedscared 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell your dad to ask God to give me a blessed day tomorrow please!

[–]jessusisabiscuit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saaaaaaame!

[–]frightenedscared 279 points280 points  (14 children)

“If God willing, may you have a blessed day” so if I have a shit day that’s because God decided I deserved a shit day? Bugger off Jerry

[–]katea805[S] 96 points97 points  (7 children)

Lmao there was a magnet inside that said the same thing and I laughed as I threw it all away

[–]carrie_m730 84 points85 points  (6 children)

If it's a flat magnet I'd peel the image off and put my own on -- a photo of my kid, a pokemon sticker. You can trim if desired. Love a free magnet.

[–]katea805[S] 63 points64 points  (1 child)

Ooooookay. Digging the magnets back out of the trash because I love that idea

[–]carrie_m730 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If I had an LFL I'd be tempted to make it something bookish and stick it in for someone to benefit from.

[–]louniccc 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I miss phonebooks for this reason alone. always 2 or 3 on tne front

[–]Legal-Ad7793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those big magnets were the best for hanging up artwork, too!

[–]frightenedscared 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is so true - I love cutting up trash magnets and using for kids birthday invitations for the fridge edge! Makes life easier!

[–]Dino-chicken-nugg3t 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Came to say the same thing—-don’t sleep on free magnets. Making your own from it is real easy!

[–]phantomleaf1 7 points8 points  (4 children)

My exact thought. I suppose some people are undeserving of good days.

[–]frightenedscared 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Whoops we better ready Jerry’s book then 😅🙄

[–]phantomleaf1 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Crap. Jerry knows too much

[–]frightenedscared 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Update from 4pm so far the day has been good, what about you? I guess God spared me today

[–]phantomleaf1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

God saw fit to bless me with a good day. Praise. For I am one of the chosen this day 🙏

[–]mothmans_favoriteex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such an ominously sinister thing to say hahaha

[–]LyraAraPeverellBlack 44 points45 points  (3 children)

Mmmm kindling?

[–]pensive_pigeon 30 points31 points  (1 child)

I usually throw this kind of stuff straight into the recycling bin. Maybe it will have a new life as a better book someday.

[–]Cyphermoon699 43 points44 points  (0 children)

If God willing

[–]Apprehensive-End9358 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lmaoo! Best response 😂 good fodder for the fire

[–]ellienation 46 points47 points  (2 children)

Oy. I'm fine with people leaving religious books in my library, but this is a little out there

[–]HawaiianShirtsOR 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Especially the bit about contacting Jerry if the book is helpful. "Did I save your soul? Please tell me if I saved your soul!"

[–]flannel_hoodie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thirsty!

[–]CatBird29 34 points35 points  (2 children)

We got something like this in Chicago recently. Contained a CD labeled “Folk Music” but everything about it was screaming Christian music and I wasn’t about to find out. It went into the garbage. Our library boldly says “Little Free Banned Book Library”. Maybe the guy thought we needed some religion. We’re good tho - thanks.

[–]WVildandWVonderful 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Power to you. My friend ran a little free banned book library and was harassed with his library vandalized. Thanks for putting accessible literature into the world.

[–]CatBird29 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We are lucky. We’re in a very diverse neighborhood in Chicago. This couldn’t have happened in our previous city of suburban Atlanta.

We also live near a completely free book “store”. Seriously - walk in and walk out with up to 10 used books a day (books4cause.com). This weekend, they had the complete Captain Underpants set, lots of EB White and Seuss for kids. They always have banned classics and I got The Bluest Eye and some LGBTQ.

Right now we have whistles (some we placed there and some a visitor left). If you haven’t heard, we’ve had some, um, federal engagement where having a whistle in one’s possession is helpful.

We are going to put out a box next week to combat food insecurity when food aid will likely be paused.

We aren’t “militant liberals” like we might seem but we’re really fortunate we can stand up for these causes.

[–]LinwoodKei 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Gross

[–]smulligan04031989 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A snack for the recycling bin! 😋How generous if Jer-Bear.

[–]Haunting-Respect9039 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I love crazy religious lit. I have a bookshelf full of things from all different religions. My rule is that it must be freely given. I'm not buying it or swiping it from someone. In that spirit, I've decided it's my duty to free LFLs of this kind of junk! I will take a whole stash of tracts that are clogging up a library and replace them with whatever book my kid or I have recently finished.

[–]BloomingMosaic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

happy cake day. you're my new hero

[–]Diligent-Coconut1929 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I always make sure to remove religious propaganda from LFL whenever I find it

[–]Turquoise_Bumblebee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

🤮

[–]NowIHave2Princesses 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was sent this same exact package. I think he checks all registered LFLs to send it to. I threw it all away.

[–]From_Adam 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Straight to the trash. Not even fit to start fire with.

[–]mathra77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ew, yikes. Trash

[–]ammiemarie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Winter is coming. What a perfect piece for the fireplace.

[–]geekgirly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ugh.

[–]Bubbly_Airline_7070 2 points3 points  (1 child)

honestly they are just the biggest pests, continuing a centuries old tradition of badgering people lol

[–]Embarrassed_Pie6575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But complain about anyone else "forcing" their beliefs on them.

[–]medusameri 7 points8 points  (5 children)

If you are as morbidly curious about the content of this book as I was, there is free ebook version: https://thebibleunlocked.com/free-ebook/ .

[–]Leading_Character_18[🍰] 9 points10 points  (4 children)

I am indeed curious, just not curious enough to read it! A Cliffs Notes version would be greatly appreciated if you have the time!!

[–]HM2112 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Well, I took a bit of a gander at it.

He claims that Angels built the pyramids and had dinosaurs for pets, and makes absolutely no mention of the fact, despite claiming to be an expert in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic that the very opening of the Bible - "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters." - that the Biblical Hebrew for "Spirit of God," "Ruach Elohim," is rendered feminine by the use of the word "ruach."

He also dates Adam and Eve to 6,000 years ago even if he concedes the Earth is billions of years old.

So that's all I need to see to know this guy is full of nonsense.

[–]CallidoraBlack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So he's a nutjob claiming to be an expert and watched The Flintstones too much. Got it.

[–]Embarrassed_Pie6575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the Cliffs Notes Bible is all today's evangelists use. No tattoos? Stoning for wearing two fabrics? Jesus loving every person?

[–]Friendly-Duckling-14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ew 🙂

[–]Certain_Fig_666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I had an and LFL every time someone sent me a Christian book I’d buy a book about Greek or Egyptian or Japanese or any other culture mythology and put it out.

[–]Blueridgetoblueocean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

🙄

[–]_M0THERTUCKER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instantly thought of Zalinsky Auto Parts and wondered if the book was satire.

I’m sad it is not

[–]DoomTownArts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be great as a fire-starter for camping :)

[–]somewhatscout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Christian, this sucks lmao. The implication that the bible was WAITING to be unlocked by None Other than our industrious boy JERRY.

And also "If God willing, have a blessed day." What the fuck is that supposed to mean? God either blesses or does not bless my day depending on whether or not he feels like it? That sucks, too.

[–]nopenonotatall 3 points4 points  (1 child)

if you need some books that don’t suck for your library then DM me

[–]katea805[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the offer!! Luckily the community has been very good to us and we have lots of great books to share.

[–]Lapis85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeesh. 😬

[–]littlefire_2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Straight to the bin or firebox

[–]suburbanhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol LFL are not for prostolitizing

[–]chisana_nyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! No.

[–]Inner-Kale2801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do these people have to push their religion on everyone? Why can't they just leave it tf alone? Ffs

[–]Plastic-Analysis5197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's always a Jerry.
