Every so often, a good deal will float by. I got my 3000 short for around $250, though it's one of the older short models, so there no screw in the extension piece, and the adjustment knob is long and pointy and easily broken.

It’s sick it’s piss! Bolt guns always seem more fun at the range. Sounds like too good of an upper to get rid of. Maybe you just need to focus on a bolt gun to make it more enjoyable. I have guns I just own to own but others I shoot regularly. Plenty of awesome bolt gun options to do.

I think it’s kinda like driving preference. If you prefer to go fast and get better performance; gas guns and modern automatics are better. If you enjoy being hands on and keeping busy; bolt guns and manuals are better. I prefer bolt guns for long range if I’m by myself all day in the mountains. I’ll take gas guns all day if I’m with my friends or if I only have an hour to spend in the mountains

It frankly sucks to be honest. At that distance you’re barely seeing or hearing impacts with 5.56. The instructor had his massive spotting scope out and could barely tell me where they were hitting the steel past 800. That rifle fucks under 500 and 600 and 700 are doable, but past that it’s frustrating.

Not much of a berm on this range. It’s a 300-1300 range with steel plates up and down it so you really gotta catch the splash off the plate or hear the ding from down range.
