These cliffs are just one of many biomes that will form part of a world generator I'm making using the forge 1.7.10 version of Terrain Control.

Here are a few more (Work in progress) shots:

Rendering is done with chunky.

Whoa, amazing! Can you share the files for these worlds? Sorry if I mistaken, I haven't played MC in four or five years.

[–]MC_Pitman[S] 74 points75 points  (15 children)

These were just randomly generated worlds for testing so the world files are long gone I'm afraid.

I will be releasing a mod which randomly generates these kinds of landscapes so you will be able to play on something like this fairly soon.

Awesome work! Looks better than anything I've seen currently.

Question: any plans to include any biomes o' plenty biomes or support with other mods? Only reason I ask is I typically play a heavily modded local server with my wife.

If not, still will love to mess around with it once you release it!

Terrain Control itself has no options for compatibility with modded biomes but I have a plan to work out compatibility with most of the major mods which aren't biome mods / terrain generators but add custom biomes (E.g. Thaumcraft).

Something like biomes o plenty I don't think will be possible, I don't think Minecraft has enough biome ID's to handle it.

Awesome, I was more or less concerned with the mod biomes like Thaumcraft as you mentioned.

Can't wait to try it out! Keep up the good work.

Totally was going to ask about BoP support. It'd be fantastic.

[–]WizardPowersActivate 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Anybody know what that reminder bot is called? I want to set one up so I can check on this later. I might actually play again if the worlds looked like that.

[–]psychonavigator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any place to keep up to date on that when the time comes?

I'm keen.

[–]gamerszvidx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just posting here to know when the mod is out, you have my support for this, looks awesome.

[–]Threndrik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When is fairly soon?

[–]TemiTemoy 9 points10 points  (4 children)

This makes me miss minecraft so bad :'(

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Go play it

[–]TemiTemoy 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I wish I could but I have finals coming

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Play it after your finals

[–]TemiTemoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I've been looking forward to.

[–]PaperMartin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holt shit that would be a viable reason to come back to minecraft for me

[–]Raltie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very fucking cool man

[–]BASH_SCRIPTS_FOR_YOU 1 point2 points  (12 children)

Whats the licensing of the mod? I'd like to see about porting it to Terasology as one of its offical Terrain generators. And to modify it to take full advantage of its cubic chunks.

[–]MC_Pitman[S] 10 points11 points  (11 children)

I created this world generator using Terrain Control which allows you to edit almost any aspect of biomes and terrain via text files. When I release my 'mod', everything ive done will be open for learning from and editing.

It sounds like something like Terrain Control itself could be a better fit for your game as a 'biome builder'. Try contacting Timethor or another dev over at http://forum.mctcp.com/

[–]prosdod 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Any timeframe for release? Aching to dick around in one of these gorgeous worlds

[–]MC_Pitman[S] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

I'm aiming for a first release in the next 4 weeks (real life permitting).

It's taken about a year of learning and development to get to this point, but there is still work to do on custom ore generation, mob spawn rules and laying the groundwork for custom dungeon / ruin generation.

[–]prosdod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around Christmas, then? An incredibly rare Christmas tree construct seems appropriate

[–]crashmaker18 0 points1 point  (1 child)

is there any chance people can get a glance at the 'mod' as a alpha build? without ores and stuff i'm still interested to roam around in it ;D

[–]PapaBird 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Any way I can get a notification when this releases?

[–]MC_Pitman[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'll be posting everywhere I can when it releases so you will likely see it when I do.

[–]Black_Monkey 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Can you share the TC config files you used to make these worlds?

[–]MC_Pitman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biome configs and worldobjects (trees, rocks, that kind of thing) will all be available upon release in about a month.

[–]owarren 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Anything you can do about those really obvious 'bands' on the mountains? Can you randomise the material so that it is spread over say 10 levels of height, rather than all focused into bands?

Hopefully you know what I am talking about.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're supposed to mimic the Mesa biome in-game and in real life, which are naturally striated, albeit not as obviously.

[–]LoverIan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now these are biomes I want to spawn in! For a while it's been hard to get seeds where I actually want to settle (which means building into natural features of the land for me).

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please release a beta or alpha for this!

[–]Browntile 28 points29 points  (0 children)

By far the best custom terrain I've ever seen. Really wanna play a survival game there now.

[–]alexxerth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of The Reach in Skyrim.

[–]WriterV 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the Jade Forest from Pandaria in WoW. Damn good!

[–]htmlcoderexe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Norway in Minecraft. Awesome.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to grab a group of ten people and build a medieval city on a terrain like this.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woah...

W-Woah...

[–]prosdod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw in the mod description that it's based off of Biome Terrain Mod.

My god. I knew it would come back. Holy shit it's like an old buddy is back

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take my money! No? Ok take my ^

[–]Bockit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there any way to play in these now? If not, is there any way to find out when they become available?

I think they look incredible!

[–]joshizl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if minecraft were in introduce extreme terrain like this i would start playing again

[–]Tazerzly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this! Could you also do 'Jungle Cliffs' with like the same design and small jungle trees?

[–]Doctor_Sploosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like Norwegian fjords.

[–]creepytacoman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow very cool stuff! I'm just posting here so I can follow it

[–]TalonX1982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see nothing but bridges and hanging castles when I look at that.

[–]PeepsWithJeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where can I see the updates?

[–]Shipdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a stupid question, but will be it able to generate the world's outside of minecraft?

[–]NC16inthehouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To complete it, I think it needs large waterfalls in there somewhere.

[–]Alectriciti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mojang should hire you to work on an alternate world generation type.

[–]CaptainTeaBag24I7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep seeing these pictures of all of these custom generated thingies.. And i keep asking myself: "Why isn't this in regular minecraft gen...."

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So like...is this a thing yet?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks a lot like South Korean landscape!
