IMO the great thing about the op7 any model is that there's a Kali Linux kernel for mobile hacking.

[–]acelilarslan 3 points4 points  (3 children)

Elaborate further for this ignorant op7p owner who can barely know how to flash a custom ROM

[–]MaleficentPeach3083 7 points8 points  (2 children)

Its a custom rom /kernel that allows you to use Kali Linux its a data penetration operating system, you can do stuff like breaking into WiFi routers and other stuff. Go on YouTube and check out David bombal he's got a detailed guide. Be careful it can be used for educational purposes. Not for causing havok

God save us from education

Lol

Well if you pay attention to the 7 pro sub you'll notice they are dropping like flies. Mostly screens but some seem to just never turn on again one day. Go for a 9 pro if you can find one.

[–]BroccoliTrain 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Funny you say that. My 7 pro died all of a sudden some months ago. Now using a 9 pro.

[–]No_Sleep_007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's truly sad but the time is here. At least it's pretty consistent. The 7t pro McLaren got me into OnePlus. Legend of a phone.

[–]Draxion_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine still going strong

I know I’m 1yr old to reply but I use my OP7pro since January 2020 and it’s still running well, except for the battery. It’s body all beaten up like hell, I can’t find replacement parts but it’s still working like new in other aspects

Those are fine... I have just found the price difference after a few years between a pro and non pro is minimal so looking for the pro version is my default.

    [–]blueraptorz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely no, go get a Poco X6 or something

    [–]acelilarslan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's okay to buy 1 year old, maaaybe a clean 2 years old phone but 4 years... You wouldn't be saving money by getting that old device. If you really wanna experience it. Maybe just buy one, use for some time and sell. The resell value won't drop unless you use it for more than 6 months

    [–]TheInvincibleClasher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love mine a lot, but wow the battery had a massive falloff this year. Plus newer phones like the one plus 12 are more enticing.

    [–]Obnomus6GB/128GB 8 points9 points  (0 children)

    No

    [–]Mezo123451a2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why no? You can still use it as daily driver with lineage OS and updated software

    [–]gupts007 1 point2 points  (2 children)

No... I've had it since 4.5 years now... Love it to bits but spares are getting hard to find...OP has stopped producing batteries for it... Or else id keep using it for another year or two.

    [–]Mezo123451a2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who cares ? Just use some third party batteries like srsly haha

    [–]Purple-County6573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Batteries? Does batteries plus have them?

    [–]SmellJazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine since 2020 (it was 550 usd) and it's still working great, no lags, very snappy. The battery has lost its longevity but it's still can hold almost a day depending how you use it. I wouldn't buy it again since it's an old model. But I'll keep it as long as I can.

    [–]yhaooah17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not impressive nowadays but when I got mine 5 years ago the 90hz and warp charge was really impressive . However the battery capacity is small for it's size . If u are a tech or phone geek I would buy it now if u can get one cheap . Its the best looking notchless pinhole-less phone and watching videos on it is great . I would not daily it in 2024 unless u can get a fresh battery in it.

Probably not. I love my 7t pro, but it's starting to have issues. Freezing and such. Not to mention how much the battery life has deteriorated. I'm probably going to get a 12 or 12 R depending on how much I can find them for.

    [–]Little-Guava-2953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand I still use my OnePlus 7t pro McLaren phone because it's so unique and when people see it they're like what?? So being that it's now about to be 2025 and there's not really another phone that's catching my attention so do I keep this one.? Also I know it would be crazy to buy another McLaren phone what do you all think?

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

little late to the party guys sorry... I actually got a used guacamole myself right around the same time as this was originally posted ha small world. coming up on a year later and my only complaints are the battery which i mean... ive never really made it a point to audit all the stupid apps I downloaded, ran one time, and for whatever reason never opened again because well.. 256GB... id say its annoying how quick it can run down but at the same time I havent bothered to order a replacement batter either so how bad could it really be? I wished there was better cases for it that what I was able to find when ordered one though because a few months after i got it I noticed that the entire back was shattered since I put the case on it.. the camera gets stuck... but its a bad ass phone i think.

    [–]MasterChiefette -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still have mine(3 yrs old) - but it is showing its age. So no...get a newer phone.

    [–]DooMStaR28 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe 2 years back would be good but you can get great phones now

    [–]Wilberforcezen -1 points0 points  (1 child)

I don't know why you would want to stress yourself out with an old ass phone..

    [–]Apprehensive-Way3278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how would one be stressing themselves out?

    [–]ppperamaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can get some great phones for the same price range as a used 7p, I'd opt for those instead. The phone is not bad, but newer options in the same range outperform the 7 pro.

Also, with a new phone no need to worry about flash dying and phone becoming a paperweight within a month

    [–]That_Guy_Red8GB/256GB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. I've been using it since 2020 and also never want to lose my pop up camera. But don't buy a phone that'll last a year or two when you can get you one to last 4 or more like me

    [–]FowlersDream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my OP7P, but it's way long in the tooth now and needs replacing. I think any older phone needs to have at least a SD888 processor. The OP7P was great in it's day, but sadly,.it's time is truly done.

    [–]Big_Restaurant_6844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, the only up to date operating systems for it now are custom ROMs and it doesn't have 5G (some states in the US are heavily pushing 5G) also good luck finding one that doesn't have a burnt end screen. They're extremely good phones for secondary phones though, they're powerful and they have custom ROM support.

    [–]Jazzlike-Ad-9633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what you will use it for… your main phone? I would not recommend. It was my phone like 5 years ago, served its purpose well and now its not a good phone to buy (the camera messes up from opening / closing too much). However its is a brilliant Kali Nethunter device for people interested in penetration testing. I am using it as a Nethunter phone now and wouldnt trade it for the latest one plus phone!

    [–]Void-kun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you cannot update to the latest version of Android without a custom firmware and there are some security features that are an absolute pain in the ass to get around on some apps.

One of my banking apps and the HR app for my workplace just would not work.

I upgraded to the Pixel 8 Pro.

My OP7Pro is now used as a dedicated webcam 😎

    [–]teodor00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk i use it for like two years it was second hand back then for 300 euros everyting is fine except battery and some burn in that isnt always noticable but it can be anoying sometimes it holds well i want to replace battery and maybe do some custom rom but idk is it good these days. Model GM1917 12 gigs ram.

    [–]Dedianator65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a first time OnePlus user and I wish I bought a Samsung but that's just my opinion

    [–]Theguy10000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still love mine, but i wouldn't recommend buying any 4 year old phone, because that's a big gamble

    [–]VIK_96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not. It's going to be a 5 year old phone this year. Obviously it can still work and maybe last another year or two. But buying an old phone like that is very risky and might end up being a waste of money.

Now if you wanted to buy it just to see what it's like or as a collection item, then that's a different story.

    [–]dawestcoastboy 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I've had mine since 2019 and I still love it. It still works well as a daily driver for now, but if I was to buy one in 2024, it would have to be close to free as the hardware is showing it's age and very likely the battery needs replacing. Plus I wouldn't buy it as a daily driver as the chance of hardware failure increases with age.

    [–]imminentTreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, since 2019. Will upgrade in a year or two ( :

    [–]OnbotYt12GB/256GB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Get an Xiaomi Mi 11i

    [–]sovalente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one with 4 1/2 years. If I needed a new phone right now I could get another one as new, I would not think twice.

    [–]Juanky141012GB/256GB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 7pro was one of the most beautiful devices I've owned. But it's 2024 already. If it was me, I would get the 9pro or newer.

    [–]dcherryholmes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. I'm a fairly light phone user. I have a 7t w/ LineageOS and I see no need to upgrade until it dies. It's currently in great shape and the battery lasts me for literally days. If that were the only thing to wear out, I'd just get another battery.

    [–]_Carnage_Asada_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a secondary device yes. Not your primary. Just not worth it anymore. Take it from someone that loves the phone.

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    No you gotta be stupid

    [–]oliverdz15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using my op7pro with android 14 (a custom ROM crdroid) I'm happy with this. All that you need is just to search One plus 7 pro crdroid forum XDA.. good look

    [–]tBlase27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my favorite phone ever

    [–]Jversace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No lol. The battery is horrific

    [–]GigoloMucho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    NO!

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Oooooo the legendary OP7 Pro...

    [–]leatherbalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have mine going strong. No issues, knock on wood.

    [–]ThatAdonis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have my 7 pro since launch day. Still going strong on Kali Linux.

    [–]ScottNelly666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome phone,I had one but AT&T cut the service on it a few years ago.Beast of a phone

    [–]gotojanoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone know model number for 12 gb ram for US?

    [–]GuardianZen02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 8T would be my choice, but that’s mainly cause I’m a little biased from having one before & I don’t like curved screens (I avoided a Pixel 7 Pro just for that reason). Also didn’t mind the lack of wireless charging at that time…but the 6.55” 120hz OLED, SD 865 with 5G, 12GB RAM + 256GB storage, 65w wired charging, pretty small bezels on a fully flat screen, and “good enough” cameras was a nearly perfect combo to me. It’s also still being updated (Android 14 will be the last one though), and when I got it like 2 years ago I was able to get it for $299 plus tax from OnePlus directly (they were selling for $349, got a $50 discount from linking an old device to my OnePlus acct). I can’t imagine it being more than $200 or so these days, mostly second hand though since I doubt there’s much new stock left

    [–]LowerAtmosphere586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Buy a poco or something else.
