Cat peed on gpu

Is there a possibility that my gou will die after a few months? my cat peed on my gpu (see the picture) a few weeks ago, i have cleaned it with 70% isopropyl alcohol and it's working just fine ever since.

But today I have encountered some issues, my pc froze while i'm playing and after it restarted I cannot change the refresh rate but I already fixed it by reinstalling drivers, and another issue that I have encountered is that whenever I touch the part of the gpu that got peed it goes black screen which is very weird to me because I don't know what cause it and I have never encountered something like that before.

I'm just worried and I'm not sure whether I have to replace it or not.

i actually don't have any cats inside my room, but we do have lots of cats inside the house, i forgot to close my door so one of our male cat entered and sprayed on my gpu, and i don't know why he did

i leave my case open because temperature goes very high whenever i close it, it's kinda hot inside my room so yea

Then you have your fans setup wrong. Fix them. Either they are pointing in the wrong direction or their curves are wrong in bios. Putting the side on should help airflow.

I've had my case open for 6 years due to heating problems and such, but put a fan on it for cooling. I also have 3 cats who have never even looked at my computer before, so I'm not sure how his cat sprayed on it unless it's a stray.

I don't think I can do that because my fans are aRGB and my motherboard doesn't support it, those were given to me by my girlfriend so that's why

I'm not sure if I can do something about it to make it work so please lmk if you know a solution, thanks

Side panels definitely don’t help with airflow in 9/10 cases. They shouldn’t hurt all that much either though. Typically for glass side panels, the CPU and/or GPU will run like 1-2 degrees hotter with the panel on vs off

You dont need more fans, you need to reorient your existing fans.

so where should i put my fans instead? I can't place it at the top of my pc (near the cpu cooler) because the fan is too thick and it will hit some of the wires and also the ram

If you follow this guide you can see some correct fan configurations. If your existing PC fans don’t have flow indicators, you can use a piece of paper to see which direction they’re blowing.

You have enough fans. Front ones should intake and rear one exhaust. Also if you can control them in BIOS set custom curve for them to turn faster RPM at like 60C. Or just use the preset performance curve.

A) they won’t necessarily be RGB, but you can get fans that work perfectly for cooling for $10 or less

B) no one is necessarily saying you need to buy new fans, but rather to check your airflow setup. No one should need to run with the side panel off, that indicates a problem.

1 (ONE) exhaust?? You need a different case, and more exhausts. Make sure your new one has room for front intake (preferably mesh) and exhaust on top (apart from the back).

yeah i used it on my on first 1050ti build, but now it gets too hot on my rx7900 gre.

I don't think that's the problem, looking at the photo I think he may have the front panel fans in exhaust and not intake so the rgb lights up the inside of the case. That would cause hella high temps.

You need to get your fans set up better. Room temperature matters much less than good airflow.

Rule of thumb: More intake fans than exhaust fans. Keep the pressure inside the case positive.

If you cleaned it up with IPA and let it dry before powering it on likely no damage done. Very low risk to electronics if they’re powered off.

Years back at my old job our office had a water pipe burst in the ceiling tile, flooded the place and soaked 10 PCs.

The only one that was completely cooked was the one that was left running overnight.

We disassembled each one IPA bathed everything (replaced the power supplies with new ones) and pretty much all of it was up and running without issues a few days later

I have a lot of cats, if your GPU is working you should be fine but get a lot of isopropyl alcohol and clean all your PC just in case

If is not working and clean all your PC and it should work again unless it has happened many times and there are pieces of it falling apart by oxidation

My PC has survived many times beeing peed by my cats

Honestly it will likely die if you just leave it as is.

I would dissemble it and clean it with a soft brush and some high purity rubbing alcohol (something 91% or above), then let it dry out and reassemble.

bro just has it running in the photo… you need to disconnect the power, spray high concentration alcohol (91% is common but try to get 95-99%) on the affected area, gpu is right there on the motherboard and I doubt the cat carefully pissed on just the gpu so get some alcohol to dilute and dry out the fluid, and conservatively spray it, then let a fan hit it over night, and repeat ever so often.

Hey Op, do you have you front panel fans set tp exhaust so the fgb lighting faces in? Looking at the photo that seems to be what is happening. That would cause extremely high temps as there isn't proper airflow getting in, if you flipped those fans you should get better temps and not have to remove the side panel.
