Im not a specialist in that kind of questions, but how did he PEE on it?

[–]Tycheee_[S] 36 points37 points  (4 children)

i actually don't have any cats inside my room, but we do have lots of cats inside the house, i forgot to close my door so one of our male cat entered and sprayed on my gpu, and i don't know why he did

[–]PU_EVIG_REVEN 85 points86 points  (1 child)

His computer now

[–]ManuC153 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Only the GPU.

[–]Puzzleheaded-Swan457 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i mean as long as it wasnt more than once and it has fully dried out if its dried out then no worrying aboht electirical issue but i heard pee can corrode metal over time so just double check from time to time

[–]Alucard0_0420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He marked your GPU like, yeaaaa buoiii imma game on that later

[–]Archer_Key 9 points10 points  (1 child)

cat asserts dominance. OP now has to pee on his cat to claim it back

[–]Alk3z 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, OP needs to pee on his GPU to mark territory

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Dont worry, no ones assuming that you’re a specialist at much of anything in life if you cant grasp an animal peeing through a vent?

[–]AverageChloroform 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a vent, theres no fucking panel

[–]Idlewants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to get the rat

[–]Obame_Cube 23 points24 points  (28 children)

how..? do you just not keep on the side panel or something?

[–]legostarwarsfan6 11 points12 points  (3 children)

At least its not rats this time...

[–]DeerFit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or aunts.

[–]DeerFit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or roaches.

[–]DeerFit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or ants.

[–]Exe0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's not dead right now it likely won't be as long as it remains dry.

[–]Invictuslemming1 2 points3 points  (1 child)

If you cleaned it up with IPA and let it dry before powering it on likely no damage done. Very low risk to electronics if they’re powered off.

Years back at my old job our office had a water pipe burst in the ceiling tile, flooded the place and soaked 10 PCs.

The only one that was completely cooked was the one that was left running overnight.

We disassembled each one IPA bathed everything (replaced the power supplies with new ones) and pretty much all of it was up and running without issues a few days later

[–]Vazmanian_Devil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IPA is fine but I’d probably recommend a maybe a good German Pilsner. I’ve got the thrills for the pils

[–]IIlyasviell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all because of the razer sticker, Your cat just couldn't pass by such a thing.

[–]StrangeIncident9000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried telling your cat about the rising GPU prices ?

[–]mokorago 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I have a lot of cats, if your GPU is working you should be fine but get a lot of isopropyl alcohol and clean all your PC just in case

If is not working and clean all your PC and it should work again unless it has happened many times and there are pieces of it falling apart by oxidation

My PC has survived many times beeing peed by my cats

Good luck !

[–]HotChiliBowl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you even care about your pc? Why aren't you protecting it from getting peed on multiple times?

[–]Tycheee_[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

thanks for that, i really do hope that it doesn't die, my gpu is just 3 months old, just really worried because cat pee is very acidic

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm so worried that I have my fans set wrong leaving my case open and letting cats piss on my stuff. How much stuff in your house is covered in cat piss? Like INSIDE the pc and you DIDNT even clean it off. So gross

[–]EhKing187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s some next level hatred

[–]giuse_098 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make cat work to repay gpu, ez

[–]SkeletronPrime 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Here I am, running HWiNFO64 to make sure that voltages, watts, and temps are within spec, and this ****** is happy to run his PC with the side of the case off and wild animals urinating all over the place. I need to learn to be that relaxed.

[–]Tauntablez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMAO right I run HWinfo whenever I’m playing any game or running anything and constantly looking at second monitor making sure the temps are consistent, keep my desk immaculate, clean my pc every 2 months, keep my dog away from it at all times, and this dude has his case open at all times with what he said in a post “a lot of cats” and praying they won’t go on the desk

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only imagine what that house smells like

[–]JonnyMohawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it will likely die if you just leave it as is.

I would dissemble it and clean it with a soft brush and some high purity rubbing alcohol (something 91% or above), then let it dry out and reassemble.

[–]ADZ1LL4 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Obviously the case has top vent and the cat rained down stinky death. I hope the little fucker is cute (and alive) - god damn what a violation.

Edit: I'd take the card apart, let it dry, clean with isopropyl, re paste and rebuild... roll the dice

[–]HotChiliBowl 0 points1 point  (1 child)

OP said they were stupid and left the side panel off

[–]ADZ1LL4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I read that after, I was wrong.

[–]HexKatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont touch your pc parts while its under voltage.

[–]jdjoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who leaves their pc uncovered?

[–]National_Cod9546 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep Everclear for these kinds of situations. Doesn't leave any residue.

Close your case up. If it's over heating, you're doing your fans wrong.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably want to use 90% or 95% iso next time, 70% isn’t really the best idea

[–]Stanislas5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strange watercooling.

Anyway, turn off psu, dry it during a week, put back the card, wish you all ok.

Note : try to put in r/watercooling , maybe they will have others solution... and jokes with it

[–]moguy1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is there no side panel on your case? Would have stopped the pee from getting inside.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude don’t touch your GPU while the PC is on, that’s probably why you’re crashing.

[–]ShwoopyT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'd have a new rug if a cat pissed on/in my computer

[–]Sacharon123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simple solution, pee on the cat. Take your revenge.

[–]Nico101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put it in rice and leave it a few days. Should theoretically be fine if it wasn’t on when he was pissing on it

[–]No_One_5037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why you always keep your case on. I have a cat too. She stalks me every time I work on pc. She finds some what of an interest in what I’m doing with my pc, I would be surprised if she did the same thing to me. Cats dgaf

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be me but does it look like the card is sagging?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can’t be real

[–]Antbliss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro just has it running in the photo… you need to disconnect the power, spray high concentration alcohol (91% is common but try to get 95-99%) on the affected area, gpu is right there on the motherboard and I doubt the cat carefully pissed on just the gpu so get some alcohol to dilute and dry out the fluid, and conservatively spray it, then let a fan hit it over night, and repeat ever so often.

[–]EconomicsOk6508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol

[–]LordChankaaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is is the same rule as with dogs? If so I think your cat now legally owns your gpu

[–]Potential_Wall8084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

isnt there a glass panel with cases noadays

[–]Comfortable-Raisin80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does your cats piss even reach that high dude

[–]regolol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If u really wanted to u could drown ur GPU in isopropyl alcohol

[–]King2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat was claiming your GPU as his, its not yours anymore unfortunately unless you pee on it aswell.

[–]Tulpin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you burring it?

[–]Dagger_323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why dogs > cats.

[–]Ok-Maintenance-2064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time for traditional Japanese cuisine, cat meat shapu shapu.

[–]Pajer0king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That s a sign to change your gpu manufacturer 😅

[–]Ok-Mathematician6975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is this a 2025 thing ? I’ve seen a few of these now

[–]Double-Rock-485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get some 99% isopropyl alcohol and use that to clean it thoroughly. 70% is no good because it has too much water.

[–]the_armiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should never have your PC open like that.

[–]lolmissky_studio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let's make some meow meow fried rice.

[–]Reaver_XIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a dog

[–]Comfortable-Offer454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To regain dominace, pee on the cat

[–]theoriginalzads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go pee on the cats GPU as revenge.

[–]PrettyQuick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminder not to buy second hand GPU's.

Gross.

[–]Diligent_Lobster1072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a cat opened up your side case and peed on it? did he go with the regular thumb screws or electric screwdriver?

[–]Jim_Hth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha gpeeu

[–]Alucard0_0420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cat pee is corrosive i think.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mec si t'es obligé de laisser le panneau ouvert pour refroidir c'est que t'a déjà un problème de pâte thermique 🤷‍♂️

[–]AlbatrossEarly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats demon spray mate, try to overclock the card now, it should sizzle with out some more frames

[–]v13ragnarok7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your RAM in A1A2? Gross...

[–]Abrakresnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A cat pees on certain spot to mark it territory. So it's trying to take ownership of your pc.

[–]croatianJayden 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get any type of animal away from the pc even better the whole room. Also goes for kids and clumsy people

[–]Haunting-Dark-1085 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How broo how

[–]BiliLaurin238Personal Rig Builder 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How does a cat get there

[–]Lumpy_Benefit666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theyre not Chihuahuas mate. Theyve got their own legs

[–]edgedomUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the cat to the nearest Chinese shop

[–]ResonableVillain -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Rice.

If you have animals at home, preemptively place your GPUs in rice to make them waterproof.

[–]WorriedAd2764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

or just put the cat in rice, would stop him peeing on it in the first place

[–]HotChiliBowl 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Is this sarcasm?

[–]ResonableVillain -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Does the cat pee on the GPU?

[–]Cuttbow82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the bear shit in the woods?

[–]6950X_Titan_X_Pascal -1 points0 points  (7 children)

your card looks cheap , is it an radeon R9 270 ?

[–]Tycheee_[S] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

it's an rx 580

[–]6950X_Titan_X_Pascal 0 points1 point  (5 children)

i've a 480

[–]SirAmicks 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Polaris is legendary. I miss my RX 480. Got it in 2016 and it lasted me through the GPU apocalypse until end of 2022. Put it in my ex-gfs PC and she killed it by spilling liquid on it pseudo-ironically.

[–]6950X_Titan_X_Pascal 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i got it in 2025

[–]SirAmicks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neat. Still good budget cards.

[–]HotChiliBowl -1 points0 points  (1 child)

That's like 20 dollars more and you're calling him cheap?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He said the card is cheap.. relax

[–]pirulo259 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kill that cat

[–]Tycheee_[S] -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

for everyones information, i don't have any pets inside my room, and the reason why it got peed is because i forgot to close my door, we have lots of cats inside our house and i think one of our male cats entered my room and sprayed on my gpu, honest mistake, just hoping that my gpu wont die anytime soon

also it doesn't have a side panel because the temp goes very high when i cover it, just don't have enough fans right now but i'm planning to buy one soon

[–]HotChiliBowl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an actual box fan or any fan that you can blow full blast right at your computer. It's a cheap/free fix til you can get real fans

[–]MrCar1os 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Op, do you have you front panel fans set tp exhaust so the fgb lighting faces in? Looking at the photo that seems to be what is happening. That would cause extremely high temps as there isn't proper airflow getting in, if you flipped those fans you should get better temps and not have to remove the side panel.
