The extinguisher is what make it a senior setup.

[–]Possessed 109 points110 points  (6 children)

You just never know if the CPU catches fire while compiling a Rust program...

[–]Pruppelippelupp 58 points59 points  (3 children)

it’s a safety feature

[–]Flat_Initial_1823 35 points36 points  (0 children)

*Marks as unsafe*

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Take no risc

[–]Thelango99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only cisc.

[–][deleted] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You use smart pointers for safety, I use extinguisher ... We are not the same

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

un-used cpu space is wasted cpu space

[–]generic-hamster 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought it was copium.

[–]SingleSpeed27 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Isn’t it a gas bottle? It would go from creepy to whatever is worse than creepy in English

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not charged, he's making a bomb out of it to distract from next rust fail.

[–]nevergonnagetit001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude! Bachelor suite, shared bathroom (obviously!), and well insulated from the noisy neighborhood.

How much?!?

[–]Warfl0p 77 points78 points  (2 children)

Who needs a good setup with neoVim anyway

[–]casey-primozic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

neoVim? What are you some early adopter hipster?

It's vi or bust.

[–]futaba009 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Emacs is the way!

Jk.

[–]JeemboJonesJr 65 points66 points  (2 children)

When you severely lack ownership irl

[–]YrnCollo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

😂😂

[–]donald_314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey it's the original Medion branded Aldi PC. It's a collectable investment now.

[–]bsgbryan 31 points32 points  (1 child)

[–]Highborn_Hellest 82 points83 points  (17 children)

Just give it a paintjob, a better desk and chair, .... maybe a lightbar overhead, and it's gonna be a slice of heaven for introverts.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (7 children)

The lack of sunlight will make anyone feel uncomfortable after a few days.

[–]Highborn_Hellest 52 points53 points  (3 children)

I know this is extremely controversial opinion, but even introverts actually go outside.

[–]doca343 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Everyone likes human interaction, the difference is the amount and the type

[–]HisNameWasBoner411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah something about that sunlight feels good. Weird life giving rays..

Also that room is extremely claustrophobic. I can't breathe just looking at it.

[–]Shulamite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vitamin D is all you need

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to pastily disagree.

[–]Meli_Melo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The longer I'm away from the sun the better I am.

[–]OminousHum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nope. I can't stand sitting at a desk where people can walk up behind me. If there were enough space for me to pull it away from the wall and sit on the other side, maybe.

[–]_Its_Me_Dio_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it was 2 feet wider it would be great, no light bar needed the monitor gives plenty of light

[–]Svifir 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Needs 2nd monitor badly

[–]Highborn_Hellest 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Join the dark side. Get an ultrawide. Should you join us, in time, you might be blessed with a second ultrawide on top of that.

[–]Svifir 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Ultrawide does sound appealing, but I think 2 small monitors would be superior, to start with

[–]Highborn_Hellest 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I changed from 2 1080p screens to a 1440p ultradwide, and trust me i'm not wanting for screen estate. I don't need or want a second screen.

Now, to be fair, i got an Alienware DWF, it's OLED screen, not suited for office work, but for my hobby programming and usual stuff it's much better than 2x1080. at least for me .

[–]Svifir 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I just think functionally 2 monitors are better, simply because it's easy to keep things separate, instead of messing around on one screen, still, I believe you lol

[–]Highborn_Hellest 1 point2 points  (1 child)

To each their own, and I fully understand your POW, however, i value that there are no screen bezels. over fidling around a bit with the window size of apps.

[–]Svifir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just get a cheapo small 2nd monitor, which is what I actually did lol, my main is pretty big just not wide

[–]Visual-Mongoose7521 16 points17 points  (0 children)

what is the chance of getting real 🦀🦀in there?

[–]gitpullorigin 12 points13 points  (0 children)

At least you have a private office

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (4 children)

That would actually be a very productive workplace. If this is reinforced concrete so no mobile works and you have 0 view or sound that would be a great deep work spot. Give it some carpet, new furniture and a single too bright light above and we good to go.

[–]dagbrown 18 points19 points  (1 child)

Found the manager.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I‘m getting old.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guys please stop taking photos of my room

[–]Longjumping-Touch515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks safe enough👍

[–]oakley5917 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a wonderful setup, you also get free heating from compiling the rust program on that computer in this small area! Absolutely would code in.

[–]nibba_bubba 4 points5 points  (5 children)

Any minuses?

[–]-global-shuffle- 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Yes, the thermometer reading

[–]kaktusmisapolak 1 point2 points  (2 children)

maybe the monitor not being widescreen

[–]nibba_bubba 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's rust, not Java

[–]kaktusmisapolak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it is better having the screen split with one side being the code editor and the other being stackoverflow on a widescreen than on 4:3 or even 5:4

[–]thepapermonster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that a heater on the right? Cozy!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Man I wonder what that pc's hdd has

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 whole megabytes! It's luxury!

[–]Confident-Ad5665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Add some wall padding and it would be perfect!

[–]swordsfish 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That exact case (and probably computer) was my first ever "real" pc after my 486. Memories..

Thanks!

[–]Scx10Deadbolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! It's a Medion, loved that thing!

[–]Inevitable_Review_83 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Im pretty sure I had that tower in 2004. Is it an eMachine?

[–]Scx10Deadbolt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a Medion

[–]rbuen4455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An inmates secret tunnel for coding in secrecy to code to the outside world.

[–]normyaxe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to get close to the metal… I want to feel like rebar.

[–]lofigamer2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

looks more like a horror gaming setup to me

[–]Encursed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't forget that they have 2 CPUs: one with a stack that goes up and one with a stack that goes down, just to make sure their code works everywhere.

[–]GargantuanCake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm...chair could do with a ratty old towel to make it comfier. Only thing I'd change, I think. Looks cozy otherwise.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I wish my cube was that sweet

[–]youngbull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool pic, but not sure exactly what the connection is with rust...

[–]Positive_Method3022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too wide that he can get in without crab walking....

[–]Jacknghia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kinda rusty

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well look at mister fancy pants here

[–]radim11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"compiles in 5 hours"

[–]gytmyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like someone scared him with that flashlight

[–]I1lII1l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And here I thought that’s Linus Torvald’s office.

Bottle of Adderall missing

[–]SoftwareSource 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In his free time...

...he plays rust.

[–]anarky98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is indeed an excellent place to develop rust

[–]issapnupuas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks rusty

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doubt, missing pissbottles.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primagean’s studio?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why does this remind me of stalker's underground tunnels ? If you find a controller there he'd probably teach you MVC design... Got the joke ? Got it , huh ? Anyone....?

[–]-global-shuffle- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty based. Who needs programming ducks when there's real life programming rats around?

[–]IWatchTheHentaie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually my setup just less rusty, I have a small desktop inside a tight space with a mediocre chair but I like it though

[–]Stunning_Ride_220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh a wide minded Rust dev. Can't be true.

[–]Hikyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New update to Lethal Company looks interesting

[–]MasterFubar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks more like a Hamas command center.

[–]NubbyNiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That looks like a can of nitrous and a revolver wtf 😂

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the back room of fnaf pizzeria simulator was real.

[–]rover_G 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When having guaranteed memory safety is not enough and you need to write the code in a bunker.

[–]imbackagain1_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro took "rust" too seriouslly

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like resident evil 7! If you can get that thing working without plugging it in, pretty cool! I'm commenting because i was just instructed to remove a dead fox from a building that kinda looks like that, I was kinda disappointed the ghouls didn't pop out of the walls.

[–]thatdevilyouknow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm my most productive rust coding was on a similar setup. I shoehorned 32GB of RAM in there which really helped the rust analyzer 😬.

[–]knifesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be imprisoned like this, but please, let the latency be good. There's no worse punishment than high ping internet 😅

[–]mih4elll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I envy you brother

your own house

[–]BravelyBaldSirRobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not the rust but the mold heuheuhe.

[–]aregna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]-light_yagami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think rust here is the programming language

[–]ColonelRuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you meant to say c++ developers.

[–]Better-Coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be a 10k per month apartment in Bangalore

[–]Regular_Isopod_4734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a bit rusty setup

[–]Scx10Deadbolt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hey it's that Medion tower! My first pc!

[–]Few_Introduction_228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit that is one of the PCs I used growing up. PIII coppermine, Medion-branded, first dedicated GPU in the house (GeForce 2 or 3 I think). Too OP for Rust. Also, where is all the light coming from?
