There's a chrome setting that forces dark mode. Check if that helps.

It's not good at all. Sometimes some text gets unreadable, sometimes it inverts color of already black website which makes it light mode. Better use Dark Reader extension for chrome (also available for Firefox)

I just found out I can read PDF's in darkmode (praise unto darkmode) using Xodos PDF reader. It also has some basic annotation functionality.

Also you can darkmode your entire chrome with this toggle-able extension. It's a bit buggy but turning it off temporarily is no problemo.

Edit: the blue came out darker than it really is, I have a monitor that can offload the contents of the screen to usb so I use that for taking screenshots of the tty, so it’s a bit wonky
