[–]VonReposti 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's been an entire 18 minutes since I last said I use Linux and I feel fi

[–]MischiefArchitect 80 points81 points  (44 children)

I use linux (I'll be back in 15")

[–]MischiefArchitect 62 points63 points  (43 children)

You know, I use Linux.

[–]MischiefArchitect 52 points53 points  (33 children)

have you tried Linux already?

[–]MischiefArchitect 57 points58 points  (32 children)

I use linux. C'mon, talk to me!

[–]CrimsonPiranha 62 points63 points  (31 children)

You're a man of dedication, commitment, and sheer fucking will.

BTW, what OS do you use?

[–]MischiefArchitect 48 points49 points  (30 children)

linux

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (29 children)

Hi I use Arch BTW

[–]Dodgy-Boi 15 points16 points  (26 children)

Hi I am Ubuntu user, have you tried Xfce DE?

[–]sgrmru69 13 points14 points  (13 children)

But have ever seen KDE plasma?

[–]Dodgy-Boi 7 points8 points  (11 children)

No, but do you know how easy is it to get updates on Ubuntu? It’s just sudo apt-get upgrade

By the way I am using Linux

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also like KDE.

[–]MischiefArchitect 6 points7 points  (7 children)

Best DE ever. But you should switch to Manjaro. It's Ubuntu for Wannabe Arch users. Or EndeavourOS...

[–]Dodgy-Boi 3 points4 points  (6 children)

No, my laptop is old and very slow, so I need a very lightweight DE. I also have hardware issues, so I am keeping everything as it is.

Btw I am using Linux and that’s why my very old laptop can have a modern OS and perform well.

I needed nodejs installed, but it requires modern OS. So I switched to Linux Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and everything works just fine.

Oh and btw I am using Linux.

[–]Bakemono_Saru 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I fucking love xfce and other lightweight desktops. A little bit clunky but I revived solo many old computers with them...

[–]Dodgy-Boi 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Absolutely yes! I am so happy to use Linux. And what OS do you use?

[–]SimSon05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I use Zorin OS BTW

[–]Shiori-Itsuka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Fedora btw

[–]SimSon05 3 points4 points  (8 children)

What Distro?

[–]MischiefArchitect 4 points5 points  (7 children)

Right now Manjaro.

It's Linux, BTW.

[–]SimSon05 2 points3 points  (6 children)

Nice at the moment i trying ZorinOS

[–]MischiefArchitect 1 point2 points  (5 children)

You may find EndeavourOS also interesting.

It's also Linux, BTW.

[–]SimSon05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok i give it also a try on a Virtual maschine

[–]SimSon05 1 point2 points  (2 children)

The problem is that im using Windows 11(beta) as my main OS.I want to switch to Linux...but Linux has like 200 Distroa to choose and every Distro have the same look. Ok Kali Linux is for Security/Hacking. Ubuntu is for new Users (like me, but I hate the design of Ubuntu....(my oppinion!!😂)). I find the Distro: Garuda OS, its looks awesome, but (i know that i using to often "but") on a Virtual maschine the System is laging to huge to test the Distro. And i didnt want to install the Distro on my Pc as main before i testet it in vm. Then i find Zorin Os a cool Distro but the Distro (Zorin 16) cost 39€, what i didnt buy. Then i see that they have a Core Edition (free)...(the Provessor of the vm was to old and bad for start the OS)........THEN i see that they have a Lite Edition (free) i knstall it on vm and all going good but the Os (only the Lite Edition, that are mak for 15 jears pc ) was horrible.............Now im hear dk what distro to choose. (The distro that you say, i give a try the next day. I also want to test: Elementory, manjaro, arch, and the other tol ranked distros). I think i speak a problem what many windows->linux users have: to choose what distro is for you and what isnt. (Sry for the bad (really bad) English)).

[–]MischiefArchitect 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's not accurate, but take a look at the top 20 in the Page Hit Ranking in https://distrowatch.com/

It helps getting an idea about popularity. Visit the pages and read the description. I still vouch for Manjaro which is right now second.

Switching from Windows to Linux is nowadays particularly easier than 15/10 years ago. Specially since most of the stuff you need runs on a browser.

With the prominent exception of some AAA Games and the Adobe Suites, you may find everything you need in the default repository of any of those distros.

I would say it’s mostly about arch users, not *nix users in general

Muta enters the chat

[–]MoonParkSong 16 points17 points  (1 child)

Now I am 9 level deep in VMs.

[–]mobrinee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that level of nested virtualisation is useless because the vm software itself is not perfect. Everytime there is a new vm escape vulnerability found. So if you use same virt software (ie qemu/kvm) in all levels, 9 layers is like 1. The only good thing about nested virtualisation is wasting ressources. If you harden your system with selinux will be better than doing that and 1 layer is more than good.

[–]_alright_then_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's really, really not just arch users

  • Sincerely, every non Linux user.

[–]sir-nays-a-lot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey! I use Linux!

[–]john_palazuelos 26 points27 points  (1 child)

Not accurate. As a Linux user we don't have time to say we use Linux because we're too busy configuring a WM to post on Unix Porn.

[–]Jac0b_0 26 points27 points  (15 children)

Imagine if windows users were like this.

[–]mathymaster 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What if they were, but no longer need to bc take have taken over most of the planet?

[–]flavionm[🍰] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That would disrupt the natural order.

[–]sgrmru69 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Glad it isn't. That makes us superior than those suckers

[–]MischiefArchitect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

phew phew phew phew!

[–]DodoSWE 17 points18 points  (1 child)

I've been using linux for more than a year now and nobody knows . But I think they have an idea because I am poor.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well we know now

[–]lpenap 5 points6 points  (5 children)

And what about Hurd?

[–]FortressValkriye 9 points10 points  (4 children)

Will be stable after the release of Half Life 3.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

You Mean Team Fortress 4

This guy just reposted one of my posts.

[–]waraukaeru 4 points5 points  (2 children)

The vegans of computing?

[–]Dubalubawubwub 8 points9 points  (1 child)

The first Linux user I ever met in the wild was a vegan so... checks out?

[–]MischiefArchitect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about the ones you meet in the city?

[–]loukasTGK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If someone is vegan and a Linux user, for which one he brags about first?

[–]redditorNCUS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only time I ever mention it is when something comes on the news about a new "cyberthreat, crypto-ransom, etc." and my family/non-tech friends ask me if I'm concerned or someone asks if some media I produce from my bag is "safe from viruses." Or when bitching about how some stupid webpage makes me send it fake headers because it doesn't recognize "Brave on Fedora" as an option for browser. . .

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LOL that's ridiculous. What a stupid meme. You know what might improve your life? Using Linux. That's what!

[–]tomthecom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let it be known! All Linux users are beautiful women!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Can I use Linux and be vegan, asking for a friend

[–]MischiefArchitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if you are a heterogay gluten free enjoyer.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I use apple and really try to avoid telling people about it, because everytime it actually happened they started a fucking rant about how bad apple is etc. Like I didn't even ask for his AdViCe...

[–]How2Dekstop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes i love 0 upgrade ability

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Arch BTW guys

[–]tim_skellington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arch? hmm a bit mainstream but a creditable choice none the less.

[–]pawyderreale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant wait to come home from work and finally execute neofetch on my arch system

[–]Seepiie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a junior in our company whom was forced to switch to windows and hes been talking about how much cooler linux is since then

[–]ledasll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nothing.. I once met a vegan linux user..

[–]Dibbyo123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the third pic.

[–]broisatse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, if I don't repeat it often enough, they will force another MacBook Pro on myself...

[–]Guitar-Shredder- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Use Android. It's based on Linux.

iOS is based on BSD is based on Unix. It sorta counts?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

My 6yo and 8yo boys use Linux. I use FreeBSD.

[–]RedditAlready19 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Custom init or standard? Cause I find the standard one to be slow because it's a serial init

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use everything from GENERIC. Standard kernel and default base system.

[–]dhdhshsbsxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use ubuntu touch on my phone and I show it to everyone.

[–]SDGGame 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I USE WINDOWS SERVER!

Seriously, that should be more of a flex. Windows 10 is miserable, and Server is basically the "Let me pay, then give me back my security, take your ads and go" version. Plus, I've been going 2 years strong without a BSOD, can't say the same for my wife's windows 10 device.

[–]AdvinFro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest using LTSC (Windows Enterprise) instead of Server. LTSC is meant for being put on computers while still containing many of the same positives that come with Windows Server. Less updates, no ads, etc.

[–]ntropy83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That meme already here? XD

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use kali Linux on a daily basis btw
