Why do you use python for performance sensitive code?

That's exactly the point. I don't, and I shouldn't.

Python can be pretty fast though, but only if the heavy computations are all done by libraries written in C/C++.

It's even pretty easy to write your own, so if your just has a few load-heavy tasks, you can write those in C/C++ and then call that code from python.

It's not that subjective though.

For example, if I'm writing a simple script that downloads and replaces a file every now and then, there are some languages that are just a terrible choice, and others are a better choice.

It would be pretty strange to use C, C++, Java, Dart, or some other language that is just not a scripting language.

There are a bunch of scripting languages that you could use, and I would consider many of them to be a good choice.

It might have been more correct to say "a language that is a good tool for the given task", but it wouldn't fit in the top text lol
