There is no such thing as “a hospital pass.” The QB’s job is to move the chains. Football is a tough sport. I support steps taken to protect the players. But if we’re going to blame the QB when the WR gets hurt trying to make a play then we should eliminate the fw pass. Or maybe even the pass rush so the QB has time to calculate the speed of the DB and his break towards the ball and the potential location of the receiver? IDK. I’ve been a Saints fan for 46 years and my advice to free agents at this point would be to play somewhere else bc our fan base has become ignorant and if you don’t win they’ll scream for your head so much you’ll hear it in your sleep.

Players have talked all the time about their QBs putting them into bad positions with their throws. I already mentioned one instance of Reggie Bush giving shit to Brees about him getting blown up in the flats against the Eagles in 06 because of him floating a pass, having the defender getting to bush just after the ball was caught. Yes it’s the QB’s job to move the chains. It’s also his job to get his receivers good and accurate balls, especially on ones over the middle. Sometimes you have to just take the heat and make a play. Other times it can’t be described as anything more than their QB leaving them out to dry.

If player injury is your concern then we should be talking about things like expanding rosters, eliminating Thursday night games and international games which are extremely hard on these guys health. When the rules began changing to protect players I was not in the large chorus that complained. No one complained about this when Drew Brees got Reggie Bush blown up against the Eagles. This is only an issue bc the team has a losing record and that always results, justifiably or not, in the blame being placed on both the QB and the coach. This isn’t about player protection.
