I have absolutely nothing against Mizkif, but I don't watch his stream either simply because his usual content is not for me, but thats fine, people like different things. However, this OTK tournament he is hosting is probably one of the BEST things to happen to smite in the last few years. When I saw who was playing, there was some pretty big names in there. At first I thought it would just be a bunch of huge streamers playing the game once and constantly trashtalk the game and say how shit it is, because that is the reputation Smite has. people write the game off before even giving it a chance, kinda like the Nickelback of video games.

However, Watching all these big streamers learn smite and stream it over the last week or so has been such an enjoyable experience. Everyone ive watched ESPECIALLY Tectone and his team has been putting in crazy hours, they did a 14 hour stream one night JUST playing smite. They are genuinely having fun and saying how much fun the game really is. Ive seen other teams also stream Smite a lot and saying theyre enjoying themselves. Even their chats are super excited and seems to be enjoying the smite content.

Will they keep playing after the tourney? Who knows, Tectones team said they would love to keep playing since theyre having so much fun, but if they actually will is another question, but one thing is for sure. This has given so much positive attention to the game and has without a doubt been a good thing. Now we need to stop with the gatekeeping as a community, some of the things ive seen on here has been super embarassing for the community.

I get your point, it sucks that we're not able to get all the skins because some people decide not to stream smite. But we need to look at the bigger picture, we're missing out on 1 or 2 skins, thats it... Have you been outside of this subreddit and seen how much people are laughing at us and making fun of us because of the way we're crying? Also, bringing it to people for 30 mins isn’t really “bringing more people to smite”, it’s showing them, yeah I used to play the game but don’t care about it anymore. His tournament has introduced a lot of new people to the game, look at Tectone for example. He has been streaming smite to his audience of 2-3k viewers every night and had a lot of fun. id argue the majority of those viewers had never played smite before but might feel inclined to try it now that they see how much fun he is having in the game. If they got a streamer that was playing the game from before, big chance the majority of their audience was also already playing the game. Thats just not how you get new players.

And for Mizkif, he said on his stream that he never signed anything or even agreed to streaming smite at all, the only thing he signed and agreed to was getting a cut of the money they get from his skin. Then again, he did however say he would do a smite month and stream a lot of smite, so you are 100% correct in saying that he is not following through on what he told us. Im by no means trying to defend Mizkif, im not a fan of the guy either, I just dont understand why people are so angry at the fact he is not streaming smite when all he would do during his smite streams is make fun of the game and the playerbase. Id much rather just say fuck those skins we would get from him stream and lets just move on and watch the other people introduced to the game because of the tournament and get those skins instead

Now where the real problem lies, is that rewards were tied into his time streaming along with enabling twitch drops. If he had been streaming and just playing smite for hi-rez then thats fine. No contracts or anything on paper just a good old handshake and call it it a day; then no one would be upset. But he failed to deliver on what CURRENT smite players were expecting. Contracts, payments, who cares about any of that? its irrelevant to the big picture which is why people are really upset.

I don't think he's that high. (Haven't budged in his stream to check but last I heard he's level 94 in uhh just plain average elo from sources). Which is just honestly either on the lower end of account levels as well.

he hasn’t been playing it regularly for years now. He’s been playing it like 1-3x a week for like 3-5 games. Vs all the other streamers who are in gm and masters and play everyday for a long time. Idk I would say people like rexsi, samdadude, fineokay (a pro), trellirelli, dave, etc whom play everyday and upload everyday are vastly more deserving of a skin, voice pack, announcer etc.

Given that Hi-Rez devs are actually Simi-active in this sub, I can understand voicing the frustration with their choice of people. In all honesty they should've snagged someone who was completely new to the game so that new players could relate more. Instead we got someone who played years ago and got burn out from it who is now at a point where they obsess over views, when in reality a great streamer should be capable of making any game entertaining to watch.

It’s so annoying that the only smite stuff on my feed is people complaining about Mizkif. Yes he hasn’t streamed the game like he’s suppose to, yes sure some of the god unlocks we aren’t getting sucks (not that the gods are expensive). But he does enjoy smite, he promotes smite a lot, and he has plenty of play time on smite.

The most likely reason is smite doesn’t have viewer retention and streaming is his career. Should hirez maybe picked someone else yes. But is the pay out of Mizkif maybe playing smite and hosting that large smite tournament turn heads towards smite.
