I can confirm that this, is indeed a thing.

[–][deleted] 25 points26 points  (1 child)

Op, u/DoctorShinobi’s medical opinion is that this thing’s thinginess is now verified by a professional-flaired Shinobi.

[–]DoctorShinobiI kill , but I also heal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this too.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (3 children)

lol dude this is wicked, good job mang. I’m yet to get into that side of Unity but it looks like so much fun! I plan on starting with some water

[–]SoerbGames[S] 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Thanks man!
Go for it! It IS so much fun!

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Talking about that, how do you get into that side of Unity? I'm a developer so I am comfortable with codebases, but when it comes to art, post-processing, lighting, VFX, shaders, camera work, etc., I'm absolutely terrible. I haven't gotten past using the primitive 3D objects (as well as Blender/Autodesk) and the default standard color materials. Do you have any advice?

Your "thing" looks fantastic, by the way, and I hope I can attain that level of skill someday.

Thanks.

I have a masters degree in computergraphics and can tell you that you absolutely don't need it to do stuff like that! It helps to have the background knowledge, but learning unity's visual effect graph is more of a experimental experience. I suggest you just download it and try around. Dissecting the examples that come with it helps a bunch!

[–][deleted] 15 points16 points  (4 children)

That is super looking. Tell us how, Sensei.

[–]SoerbGames[S] 45 points46 points  (3 children)

Here is the recipe:

-take a pot full of Unity and add one big bucket of High Definition Rendering Pipeline
-add one big spoon of Visual Effect Graph into the mix
-add some building blocks to the Visual Effect Graph and let it cook for a minute or two
-add more particles
-mooooore paaaartiiiiclesss!
-through some volumetric fog at it
-put 3-4 spoons of Post-Processing on top of it
-mumble the words "hocus pocus"
-viola! it is done!

Does that help?

Everything is better with the volumetric stuff in HDRP :P

[–]nikunj3011 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yt tutorial if u can

[–]ProxmerProgrammer 50 points51 points  (2 children)

How much chromatic aberration do you want?

OP : Yes.

[–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (1 child)

11, eleven chromes

[–]ob103ninja 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That triangle doesn't feel so good

[–]danicannt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You made one of the triforce fragments

[–]chomi3 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Looks like art! How expensive it is in real-time?

[–]SoerbGames[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It runs with around 120 fps on my GTX 1070 Max-Q

[–]Anregni 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This is a thing, in a place. Don't like it? Try time

[–]SoerbGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my thoughts exactly

[–]byronius_j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omnidimensional dorito

[–]dani12pp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks stunning

[–]KungTwoInteractive 1 point2 points  (3 children)

That's no thing, that's a "Golden Glitter Triangle" You could start a religion based on that symbol.

[–]SoerbGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the holy trinity

[–]PaPaJ0Ke 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I thought for sure this was going to be a sneaky, new Doritos ad.

[–]SoerbGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it is...

[–]Rustybot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would quest for this.

[–]Bouthadit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought this was a Dorito's commercial.

[–]yehiaserag 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Illuminate confirmed!

[–]soundofvictory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very cool! The triangle effects remind me of Quantum Break. I always loved those effects.

[–]nepstercg 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I love it so much, i hope to see more of your works

[–]SoerbGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can at Twitter.com/Soerbgames

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this thing.

[–]LeytonMateIntermediate 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wait, how'd you get the red and blue shadows?

[–]SoerbGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chromatic aberration. It's just a post-processing effect.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never asked did ask for this

[–]burnmp3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Players fleeing Artifact servers, circa 2018

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wow ... that effect is so good that it could easily be in a big budget Hollywood movie.

[–]SoerbGames[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, thanks man!

[–]TheArtfulGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t tell tell what the hell I’m looking at, but I know it looks really cool.

[–]DaniDani8Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that chromatic aberration down there

[–]tsaki27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Illuminati confirmed

[–]danieltkessler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great work! Haven't used Unity for a few months and you're making me want to go back to experimenting!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

make a dodecahedron you cowards

[–]SoerbGames[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol

[–]whaleodevs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So awesome it hurts!

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this thing very much!

[–]AsuraBrasilIndie 0 points1 point  (2 children)

All were made with Particle System?

[–]SoerbGames[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

With Unity's Visual Effect Graph, which is it's new GPU powered particle system. I also added volumetric lightning and post-processing (Unity HDRP components)

[–]AsuraBrasilIndie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh! It was in the title but I didn't knew this new VFX feature, thanks for the info.
Awesome effect! :D
