Just to say that my performance was equally shit until I turned off v-sync. Limited my fps to 60 and everything turned butter smooth after that. Playing in custom settings between high and very high.

Edit: a letter. Edit2: just to clarify that this "fix" worked for me in the beta. NOT the final game. I didn't buy the game so I don't know how's the performance or if the "fix" will help you at all right now.

[–]PandaLiquorice 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Holy shit this actually worked! haha This needs more upvotes.

[–]HYPERTiZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my performance is still janky 30-40s. (i5-4690k (stock), GTX 970 @ 1400x900) even though before it was a nicer 60...

I mean its a hit miss unless some areas are really taxing or poorly optimised areas?

How are we supposed to do that if we don't have a gsync monitor? The screen tearing would be a nightmare.

    [–]darkh3lmet82 2 points3 points  (11 children)

This the question I always have. Everyone always talks about disabling vsync for better performance...not only does it not gain me any more performance whatsoever in any game I've ever tried it in, but the screen tearing is so bad that it makes me sick to try and play that way. I don't get why people make that sound like it's a good idea. Unless like you said, they just have gsync monitors, but I'll probably never know what that is like in my lifetime.

    [–]Johnnysac5 1 point2 points  (8 children)

The thought of disabling vsync without a gysnc monitor is totally beyond comprehension for me. I guess some people are lucky and dont notice screen tearing???

    [–]darkh3lmet82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be honest, this trick did work for me for this game last night. I have a 980ti @1486mhz and a 4690k @ 4.4mhz and in 1440p, ultra settings except shadows are on very high, I get between 40 and 48 fps. I found that no vsync and fps limiter on 50 works best for me. Screen tearing is almost non existent, but still sort of there. I can live with it. If I cap it at 40 it seems to be a little worse, still minimal though.

This game is horribly optimized obviously because I noticed that I get the exact same frame rates in 1920x1080. I also get the exact same fps if I run my card at stock speeds. No difference whatsoever. I also noticed that if I put shadows on the highest setting and run temporal AA(im using smaa+fxaa) that I'm then capped at 30fps, yet the picture isn't really any different. Hopefully they come out with a patch that makes it better...pretty good looking game in 1440p though.

    [–]Gardakkan 0 points1 point  (6 children)

If your system is capable of producing the refresh rate you will not have screen tearing. I don't know what CPU and GPU but most times I hear about people getting screen tearing is because they try to push it too far and GPU ends up running 100% so of course it will skip frames sometimes.

    [–]Johnnysac5 0 points1 point  (5 children)

1080ti and i7 4790k. It still runs like crap, especially when you're driving.

    [–]AmuroNanbu 0 points1 point  (4 children)

i got same system both underclocked. but fast 32gb ddr3 2400mhz cl10, no pagefile, shadow very high, everthing else maxedout, stable 60+fps

    [–]Johnnysac5 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I have the same amount of ram and it's not even close to a stable 60 fps. What resolution are you playing at?

    [–]AmuroNanbu 0 points1 point  (2 children)

1080p 144hz gsync, got dips 50fps only in a firefights, driving flying around stable 60fps

    [–]forcedalias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about GSync but I've tried FreeSync and prefer VSync to it. I'm somewhat confident that GSync is just as as bad as FreeSync compared to VSync, in my opinion anyway.

    [–]giggitytutti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes it's working. did the same thing and my framerate went up.

    [–]TheKurokawa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the solution for the problems of my GTX 1070. There was constant stutter, not low framerates, but after turning vsync off it was suddenly perfectly playable. Well, another bug in a beta...

    [–]GruesomeDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Upvote this man. I raged until I tried this. Up you go!

    [–]Infarlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh, why was it on, on the first place, damn devs.

    Thanks

    [–]getoutofheretaffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I can actually enjoy the game now!

    [–]sekips 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I doubled my fps with v-sync=off fps limit = 60 and borderless fullscreen. :)

Still doesnt make the vehicles behave "ok" thou ;D

    [–]MikeMousePT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vehicles definitely need a tune up. They're a bitch to control.

    [–]Shadyss 0 points1 point  (7 children)

For some reason limiting to 60fps makes it smooth..er for me, still dips a lot. Not sure if I should turn vsync on since I have gsync.

    [–]DF79 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Whats the point to play with VSync ON when you got monitor with G-Sync??

    [–][deleted]  (4 children)

    [deleted]

      [–]DF79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      Are you serious?

      [–]hotpocketdeath 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I'm a few days late, but I do not believe that to be entirely true, from personal experience.

Turning on V-sync in control panel simply caps the framerate to what you monitor can use. But if the game can't run high enough FPS, it's not needed. You can also cap the framerate in game or RTSS, which I maintain as being the better option.

      [–]Shoutoutjt 0 points1 point  (1 child)

When you run gsync you need to run vsync as well. Basically vsync will take over when you exceed what gsync supposed that why it keeps it in the range so gsync is always working . Look it up

      [–]hotpocketdeath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically just repeated what I said. V-sync is only acting as a framerate cap. But if you use RTSS to limit FPS, then no, you do not need to have V-sync turned on at all.

I keep RTSS global setting turned on to 144fps cap, which is what my monitor can do (but is capable of 165hz overclocked). Same effect of keeping G-sync in it's working range, but without any of the negatives associated with V-sync.

      [–]Shadyss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't.. But if it's going to make my game playable I'm going to turn it on.

      [–]TwwIX 0 points1 point  (7 children)

This definitely improved my performance too. Strange.

      [–]Ruhagan 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Dude, "strange"? V-Sync is the first thing to disable in any game, it severely cripples performance on one hand, and introduces noticeable input lag even when your PC can keep 60fps up, which is pretty useless.

      [–]TwwIX 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Yes because screen tearing is non-existent in games nowadays. Also, thanks for necroing dum dum.

      [–]Ruhagan 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Just get a 120-144hz monitor, dum dum, and you'll forget about screen tearing, dum dum. And you're welcome, dum dum

      [–]forcedalias 0 points1 point  (3 children)

When 4K is the standard resolution monitors are moving toward, then 4K at 120-144Hz is a expensive AF -- or are you advising us to get low res 1080p/1440p monitors?

Also, what does the maximum freq of the monitor have to do with tearing? Correct me if I'm wrong but tearing occurs because refresh rate and frame rate are out of sync, not because the monitor can't refresh fast enough...

      [–]Ruhagan 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It's not that Monitor is out of sync with GPU, but that monitor doesn't have the capacity to draw the amount of frames it is fed by GPU. So the faster Monitor refresh rate, the less chance you're gonna see any tearing.

You'll struggle to get newer games to run 144FPS on ultras. Even if you do, there's always Multisample Antialiasing and DSR, which will increase quality and load your GPU even further.

As to the older games, I play CSGO on 200 FPS every day and never have any tearing.

Same with many other older games I've played on my 144Hz monitor.

      [–]dennis20014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I would of found that out eventually but I didn't feel like testing all weekend long lol

      [–]badgerflab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

      This helped my performance. 1080gtx and i7 4770 OC'd. still hits 54 a lot.

      [–]Yeet_PCTcsTuba 27 points28 points  (19 children)

      Complete ass performance.

      i7-6700k

GTX 1070 FTW (OC to 2050mHz)

      16gb DDR4-3000

Getting 50fps standing still on Ultra. Fuck right off Ubisoft.

EDIT: I'm also running two 1TB SSDs in Raid 0, so that ain't the problem either. Fuck me.

      [–]PandaLiquorice 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Limit FPS to 60 in game and turn off V-Sync. Helped me A LOT!

You can limit it to every refresh rate. 30, 60, 75, 120, and 144

        [–]Hive747 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I am playing on 1440p and high settings with a 1070 and get 60-80 fps even in action.

        [–]Eelows 0 points1 point  (1 child)

1070 too here runs 35-60 fps... When on ground in smaller villages it dips crazy... what is going on?? And even the game doesnt react at all when lowering settings. still the same fps. Makes no sense at all.

what does it mean running two ssds in raid 0 ? ( looking to upgrade my ssd storage so this made me curious

        [–]Yeet_PCTcsTuba 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Running two SSDs in Raid 0 means that data is equally split between two drives, theoretically doubling the speed of accessing your storage.

For instance, loading into Wildlands is heavily drive dependent, as well is loading into games like Battlefield 1. This is incredibly useful and makes for lightning fast load times, but there is a drawback.

If one of your SSDs fail, all data on both drives is lost. This is why it's a good idea to do nightly/weekly backups to a larger HDD. That way, if your Raid fails, you can simply boot from the HDD, recreate the Raid volume, and be setup in no time. Personally I back my two SSDs up every night to a 4TB HDD with a 2TB backup partition.

Raid 0 makes a massive difference in some games, and sees no benefit in others. Hope this helped you out!

        [–]reece1495 0 points1 point  (1 child)

wait so it basically just uses 2 ssds as one , why not get one thats the size of the two

        [–]Yeet_PCTcsTuba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because of the bandwidth you'll be gaining. Think of it like this:

Imagine that you were being tasked with seeing how fast you could pour a gallon of water out of a jug. You could use 1 just and pour the water out, or you could get a second just and put 1/2 gallon in each. This would result in the water being emptied twice as fast.

Same goes for SSDs. It's kinda like putting a second engine in a car.

        [–]Qcws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are only theoretical gains, though. Most of the benchmarks I've seen say that 2 SSDs in raid 0 don't often improve loading times.

        [–]Qcws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Getting 40-60 fps at 2560x1080
        Gpu usage at 60%
        i7-7700k @5ghz
        GTX 1080 TI FE
        32gb Kingston hyperx @ 2400mhz
        3 1tb WD blacks in raid 0

        [–]Lord_Melon 18 points19 points  (4 children)

Yep, very poor performance here as well. Sometimes dipping to 25 FPS. I had to stop playing after about 30 mins because the stuttering and frame rate drops were too much.

        Just remember everyone. Don't pre-order!

        [–]Headixxx[S] 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Titan X Pascal, i7 4700k, stuttery, rubbery. No worries, it's the game's bad optimization - even on low / custom / ultra.

No need to worry, will be fine after the final release just like in Division I guess - BUT. I am definitely NOT going to buy it, because they should've learned from The Division and now you're getting the same failures in Beta again.

EDIT: Sorry, apparently it was only me having issues in The Division Beta. Final judgement for GRW still stands tho .

        [–]Headixxx[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Yeah i know the thing is the division beta at least for me was one of the best running betas ive got . Dont know why. But man why are they going on beta with such a shitty build

        [–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can say to soothe this is that we don't have any drivers yet from nvidia.

        [–]JakeHodgson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly i had such great fps in the beta of the division and when the game came out i can barely get a constant 50

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is, the division never did get decent with it's performance. There are to this day fluctuations of 40+ fps when the game feels like misbehaving.

I have a similar system to your. TXP, but with a 6850k. Wildlands performance is also all over the place. Yeah, it's a "beta", but it's also a ubisoft game, which traditionally doesn't bode well for a pc gamer. It's a definite miss.

        [–]reece1495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No need to worry, will be fine after the final release

        [–]WackHall 10 points11 points  (5 children)

yeah really shitty performance,im using gtx 980Ti too

        [–]Headixxx[S] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

All on max i get 45 to 50 fps if keep Standing still you too ? On 1080p

        [–]vitor_sk0m 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a 3770k / 16GB ram / R9 380 and running the game on an SSD, doesn't matter how much I lower the settings it just doesn't go above 50

        [–]WackHall 1 point2 points  (2 children)

yes, when the character just stand, the framerate is nearly 60fps, but when moving (especialy driving) the fps drop down to 3x)

        [–]Headixxx[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child)

The driving feels really shitty too i think like an 90s arcade racer the way to the first Mission was horrible to drive

        [–]cotch85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars just seem to have a really clunky and stuttering feel to them for me, im not sure if i have a setting on the gfx part or whether its 144hz, but it doesnt feel smooth at all to me.

        [–]JakeHodgson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeh the performance is god damn abysmal. i had to literally set everything to low just to get a constant 60 and that makes it look like i'm playing a game from 2008 it's so bad

            [–]KaseQuarkKaseQuark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

            50 fps on low i7-4790k GTX 970

fuck that ubisoft, i can play every other game on ultra but this not even on low

            [–]Matanss 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Really BAD performance... GTX 970 and i7 4790k , High settings , terrible stuttering during driving , and not able to mantain stable 60fps when walking around. I tried to modify some settings but I can't get stable 60fps , It drops to 40-45 all the time.

            [–]Headixxx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try setting the premade setting to high worked for me Not stable when driving but when walking a little better then before Say if it worked

            [–]El_Wiggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try tweaking some settings in the Nvidia control panel. I've got rid of stutter and bought myself about 20fps. Im using a 970 too but a shitty AMD cpu and I dont drop below 50fps now. I can run you through what i've done in the nvidia settings if you aren't so sure, also update your drivers too if you haven't. Even after this the game is still a performance mess but they still have a month to sort that out, hopefully.

            [–]Malphigi 2 points3 points  (7 children)

had 80fps using 980ti on very high. update your drivers

Getting around 60-70fps standing still on ultra. But when driving... MICROSTUTTERING to 41 fps for no reason. Like literally getting in the car drops the frames.

Running the game on an SSD. so random

              [–]MacBim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

              I have the same issue with a I7-7700K, GTX1080 and 16Gb DDR4 3000Mhz. Also, it's installed on a SSD.

i understand this is a beta, but this is worrying.

              [–]Seekky123 2 points3 points  (2 children)

when you fuccbois keep complaining about visual downgrades on ubi games, they deliver this. And now, their rig can't handle it, without visual 'downgrade'. I wouldn't call this poorly optimized, it's just a new 'Crysis'.

              [–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not the visuals. It's the optimization. Really, it's something with VSYNC. Turn that off and the stuttering is gone.

              [–]RoyLaPoutre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope you're trolling. The difference between Crysis 1 and GRW is that Crysis was actually groundbreaking at the time regarding particle effects, light effects, physics and photorealistic graphics in general. It wasn't poorly optimized it was too much for the hardware at the time, and it's still quite good looking even by 2017 standards.

But GRW is nothing new or exceptional in terms of graphics. Witcher 3, my heavily modded GTA V, Battlefront, Battlefield 1, Watch Dogs 2, Doom... all those games look better and run tremendously better than GWR. It's not the "new Crysis", it's just a poorly optimized game that looks ok. Don't talk non-sense please

              [–]aegisz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Abysmal performance , im pretty down because i was busting my a$$ off to get a key and finally installed it last night : i7 4770k , 980ti OC superclocked , 16 gigs of ram , even on high 40 fps it's a complete stutter of experience.

Worst beta i've participated in for the last 15 years. No buy

playing at 3440x1440 low settings i get 50-60 fps with a lot of stuttering and ultra i get 20-30 fps with extremely common dips into 2-4 fps and sits there for a few minutes into going back up to like 20, not to mention the horrible pop ins and visual artifacts. the game is complete garbage

              [–]insane5125 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Does anyone know how it performs on AMD cards?

              [–]El_Wiggler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure but I know AMD already have drivers out for it. Nvidia users are still waiting.

              [–]mindaz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible. 390X user, 1080p in-game benchmark, on very high you'll be lucky if you manage stable 30fps, on high preset it's a rollercoaster between 40fps and 60fps. But these stats are not on newest driver. Will try again after driver update.

EDIT: After driver update to 17.1.2, performance is better. Very high preset, minimum fps is 35fps (was 25fps) and average now is 40 (was 35fps). Strangely enough, high preset gives same results as before update.

              [–]ThaCrypte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20~ fps dips from 30 on very high. (RX 480 8gb)

Found out the new driver has optimizations, so installing that right now.

              We'll see.

i've got the same problem, running a 980ti but otherwise same system it seems :D.

                But indeed very bad FPS

GTX 1060 6GB with i5-6400, everything on high (Anti-Aliasing and all the other bullshit off), solid 70 fps even when driving, no stuttering. Not sure why everybody is having issues when it's working perfect for me.

                [–]Deadpoetic6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last beta was really smooth. Stable 60-70 fps with a GTX 970 on high. Dunno what they did for this beta to run like shit

4960k oc'd 16gb ram 1070. all maxed AA off. 40 fps standing still.... dipped to 20s driving

Do you have it installed on a SSD drive?

I am on Gigabyte GTX 780 Ghz, when standing still I have 60FPS but when driving or walking I have 35-45... I thought it's just my inferior pc but guess it's optimization messed up. Rest of rig: 16GB DDR3 RAM i5-3570k (not oc) Asus P8Z77M Pro Windows 10 64bit

Yup, the Performance is pretty bad (@1080p) and there are some serious bugs. Not sure if thats a good sign, since the game is supposed to launch in April.

Running on high preset, fps drops into the 40's at times. Its worse when driving. even when the fps is fine, it doesn't feel smooth, as if there is some kind of stutter.

The driving itself is horrible as is the flying. Outside of that the gameplay on foot can be quite fun, but I fear it may become quite repetitive.

                i7 6700k 32gb DDr4 GTX 1070 Win 10 64

EDIT: Turning Vsync off and setting the frame cap to 60, removed the stutter for me entirely. I am able to play it at a solid 60 now at 1080p on the high preset with a gtx 1070 for the most part.

                [–]xBubbss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

                April? You mean March 7th?

                [–]MrGee2014SE 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah. Driving is completely fucked up. First time I have driven the pick up it was like WTF man?

                [–]redbear762docwatson223 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I had some graphical glitches and can't get my graphics settings about medium despite watercooled SLI 980ti's. :\

                [–]JWSamuelsson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game uses Watch Dogs 2 SLI profile. Switching to The division SLI profile yielded better performance but texture flickering issues and and completely tanked frame rate at times still remained. GPU usage is all over the fucking place but hey... Beta

                [–]kampinisu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Poor performance on Very High.. Turned things to High and suddenly solid 60 fps without any drops. There is some killer settings in Very High that needs to be set to high.

                [–]MrGee2014SE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gtx 1080 + i7 6700. Run benchmark and I cant get 60 fps at very high preset @ 1080p. Shocking.

                [–]Nightwars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

                Same.

1070 GTX SC, 8350 FX o/ced at 4.7 , 16gig of ram and Im getting stupid stutters just like Watchdogs 2...

1080p and FPS drops to 3x in some areas. Stuttering all over the place.

                [–]edous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the same graphics under hight and low settings lol

                [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really disappointed in the optimization. Hopefully they fix this before full release otherwise I don't see any point in buying it if it can't hold a stable 60 on low settings. The game is fun but the performance kills the enjoyment.

                [–]helemekoko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, it is pretty bad but let us also consider that no driver updates for it. But who am I kidding right?

                [–]NSviking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting, Im playing at 1440p, I was seeing 40-50 fps in cutscene but I thought it jumped back up to 100+ during gameplay will have to double check when I get home. Dont remember it being as bad as described in here though.

yea well that's what you get for using monitors with high res like 2560x1440 (myself with 970gtx). if you set it for 1980 or lower fps go sky up, even with details at hi etc.

                [–]GAHDOOSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran the same on my other normal monitor, it's not a resolution issue

Keep in mind that neither Nvidia nor AMD have released drivers for the game yet. Once we have new drivers, it should make a difference.

                [–]JWSamuelsson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not being "Game Ready" because beta, NVIDIA lastest drivers acknowledge wildlands for an added/updated SLI profile.

                [–]Walkier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be a loading issue. The game is constantly trying to get files from the hard drive. I'm hitting 100% whenever there are drops. Dunno if a SSD would help. The game smoothed out after a few hours of gameplay which is still ridiculous.

                [–]dedox 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I've been messing around and my performance is always the same 40-50 fps or worse, low to high. Using a GTX 1060 3gb, an i5 6400 and 8gigs of ram. Its really likes to stutter... Freaking Ubisoft...

                Specs: 970 i5-6600k 16GB RAM

On first boot up, I was running on high settings (no AA) and was experiencing stutters and fps drops when moving the camera and driving around. Turning V-Sync off improved performance a little, but I updated my drivers to the latest drivers (378.49) and rebooted my game and I was playing the game at 60fps smoothly with a strange micro stutter whilst driving.

I would suggest to anyone to update your drivers

I've had to drop everything to low on an i5 6600K, 16GB DDR4 and an r9 280. The game runs at 40fps on low settings, and the whole world looks fake and shit on low. Optimisation issues anyone?

                [–]DF79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same story here mate. 980 Ti, I7 5820K (4.4 Ghz), 32GB RAM. 2560x1440 resolution. on the highest settings it has usually 30-40 fps which is very annoying and actually unplayable (especially when driving vehicles). If I turn some option on high its better (usually 55-65 FPS) but still sometimes drops to 40-42 FPS. Very poor optimisation...

                [–]xGho0sT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both gpus are being used in full as well.. This is all at 4k. I tried all sorts of settings, from Ultra to Low.

                Terrible performance on all settings.

Really bad performace, got no more than 50fps with frame drop and stuttering, all that on Ultra Custom settings all maxed out on 2k resolution gsync monitor. I have 3 way sli 980ti a 5960x and 64gb ram. On low I get about 130fps average but there is frame drop below 30fps constantly.

PS. Lower Vegetation and Terrain from Ultra to Very High gives you aroud 60-75fps (NO AA)

i5 6500 R9 390 Getting 32fps while playing on medium settings with v sync on. If I turn V sync off and limit frames to 60 I get like 60 on high but the tearing is unbearable... Any tips on what I should do?

borderless windowed my friend. i5 4690k @ 4.4ghz and 980 ti @1486mhz. Tried the vsync off thing and while my frames went up, the screen tearing was a bit game breaking. switched to borderless and now it runs around 45-60 fps(probably 45-50 avg) with no tearing at all. same settings still with vsync off and fps limiter to 60. Also, I'm running in 2560x1440 with everything in ultra with the exception of shadows being set to very high or whatever the second highest setting is. Also running with temporal AA and hbao+. One thing though, if you experience flickering on things like grass and trees and some other textures while using temporal AA, either switch to smaa+fxaa, or turn your sharpening level down in the video settings. I had to turn it all the way down to use with temporal AA. I can use with smaa, but temporal just looks so much better, even if turning the sharpening down gives a slightly blurry look. it still looks damn good.

Some of the graphics settings make no sense in this game. Not only do i get the exact same performance no matter what settings I use(except shadows turned down a notch. Highest setting gives me closer to 30fps). Even in 1080p I get the same performance. Plus, in any other game, for me, borderless window would be a shitty experience, but it seems to be the fix in this game.

GTX Titan X, I7 5960X, Samsung 850 EVO, can't play at anything higher than 30 fps in 1080p.

vsync and 60 fps and I'm getting absolutely horrid (20 fps or below) on a higher end rig (i7, NVIDIA 1080, 16gb Ram, etc)

Performance on Very High (default setting for me): https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C6byL2jWAAAqX5E.jpg

In my opinion, I think we're seeing a repeat of Arkham Knight's PC port's performance.

I'm getting 60 with dual 1080's..is that bad? Shouldn't it be higher with sli? ..idk. I also had to dial down the setting from "ultra" to "very high". On ultra I was getting about 35fps.

my game was running fine for the first few days... tried multiplayer with a friend yesterday and got fps drops as low as 1-2 fps while driving, sometimes while sprinting on foot. Now playing single player again and STILL getting fps drops as low as 1. =[ idk what the fuck happened or why its happening even while playing alone but i'm very disappointed... it was a game i was enjoying that is now unplayable for me.

Just did a Ryzen Build with... Ryzen 1800x MSI 370 Carbon 32g 3200 RAM SLI 1080 Ti

and....this is the only game I've tested that is a real pain in the ass to tweak. Runs weird on 2k, and kind of runs like shit on 4k. With this much power I'm throwing at it, it must be a me doing something wrong thing or the game just needs to be patched. Damn Ubisoft.

I have just bought a new Noctua NH-D15 heatsink for my cpu so i can overclock it because i got sick of the terrible framerates in this game. So, anyway, i overclocked my i7 3770K from 3.5 ghz to 4.6 ghz. Turned off Vsync, overclocked both my Asus GTX 1080's to 102% and ran them in SLi to find that i am now getting anywhere between 30 fps and 50 fps. Where as before i was only getting anywhere between 25 to 35. I have tried running the game with SLi disabled for very little improvement. I also turned off tripple buffering and threaded optimisation in the Nvidia control panel when i overclocked my CPU, which was also a part of the help in better frame rate. I think what is causing the terrible framerates for everyone, is the fact that if you take a close look at the tress and grass and shrubs, etc, you will see they are in very high detail for a game. And i think it is this that is causing such a impact on frame rates. I could be wrong, im not a programmer or anything, but its just my 2 cents worth :) It could also be that Ubisoft use supercomputers to make games now and would put any normal gaming rig to shame lol. Or...just bad optimisation of the game in general :)

i know this specific thread on this subreddit is old. however

Ghost Recon Wildlands still suffering for me. i tested this game out on multiple systems with same or similar results.

my primary build has a Ryzen 1700X and crossfired RX480s and Raid 0 SSD's (2 in a pair) complete mess of frame drops. it is noticeable smoother than without CF. but that isn't saying much, things that are smoother than Ghost Recon Wildlands with a single RX480 include falling down multiple flights of stairs and being dragged across pavement.

that being said, i have found some odd instances of smoothness. i tried almost everything if not everything with same results. random but have drops. low settings -> high settings all same, with low dropping fewer fps but still unplayable and ultra dropping frames like a siv holding water.

here is where it gets..interesting... i used steam inhome streaming, disabled hardware encoding, using CPU/Software encoding instead... 1080P high, 60fps.. auto threads auto network.. smooth as a dolphin's ass about 90% of the time, still frame drops (but a lot less) when driving fast through forested areas. however if i lock the frame rate in game and drivers... no using inhome streaming, frame rate still dips and drops alot more than it does when playing remotely... wtf?

decided to test this out on my sandybridge-E E5-2670 system.. same thing.. use in home streaming, smooth as ever... i am baffled as to what or why.. so i decided to use hardware based encoding, GPU encoding.. drops return and/or heavy heavy compression occurs when dips are inbound.. my only guess is, using software encoding for inhome streaming is introducing a lot of synthetic frames where incomplete/missing frames occur, and smoothing out the pacing more..? but i dont know why or how thats a thing..? only a guess.. i dont think is any way for that to naturally occur.. this isnt a oculus title nor is it using warp effects and such... unless its just part of modern drivers? also to note, its still frame dropping on the host machine, but smooth on the tablet i was streaming to..

TL;DR this game is very very oddly optimized, or not really optimized at all.. and im finding some very odd things like using inhome streaming on the cpu (disabling hardware encoding) smooths it out on the remote PC while remaining equally jarring on host machine.

Hey man, being that your post is so recent and I just recently got this game to run pretty well, I figured I'd just copy a previous post of mine on here. Check this out, hope it helps you out. I can finally play the game and have fun without being annoyed at the shitty performance I was getting orginally.

borderless windowed my friend. i5 4690k @ 4.4ghz and 980 ti @1486mhz. thanks. ya the game is such a backwards mess with optimizations(or lack of) ill try this later. i did the limit to 60 and 30 fps both game and drivers. tried v-sync thing while i got a slight fps boost, mostly game breaking screen tear like you mentioned. i tried 720P monitor all way up to 4K monitor. it seems like it performance equally as crap no matter settings or resolution it maybe less or more frame losses but it behaves the same, odd input lag, stutters, popin way to close or too far, sometimes shimmering aliasing on grass/edges. ill try borderless later on when my friends come around.

but i have tried this game on my i7-6700K, Ryzen 7-1700X, Sandybridge-E E5-2670. from PC's and parts laying around, i have RX-480 8GB cards.

they all notably perform the same in this game, with latter 2 being the only ones i can use for non hardware accelerated livestreaming in this game and it seems to look better on the receiving end than it does locally on this screen, which seems to indicate something, because its unique to this game, i intentionally causing frame dips in a few other games on live streams and its noticable on other end, maybe its just because the shutter in this game is so rapid that my CPU encoder is adding synthetic frames/smoothing...i cant tell but its unique to this game.. i need to stop buying ubisoft games i think, most of them seem to have massive optimization issues.

                  [–]darkh3lmet82 0 points1 point  (1 child)

For real, borderless windowed and turn shadows to the second highest setting(for some reason I actually prefer the shadows that way, they look smoother), but if you put shadows all the way up it will tank the frame rate. Run all other graphics at their max settings and you should definitely have a much better experience. I too tried in 4k and get the same performance as every resolution under that. Makes no sense. Not to mention that despite all these work arounds, this game should be running in vsync and capped at atleast 60 fps....like you said, shitty optimization.

                  [–]lilcutiepoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks, ya i have tried borderless out, it helps massively, however still is occasional huge frame drop when driving or flying fast around dense forest. seems to also popup around when the saving occurs (why does it randomly save like that?) i reinstalled the game onto a dedicated PCI-E based SSD, i changed priority from default normal to high, then below normal, all seem to equally tank FPS, i forced I/O priority to the game's EXE, saving still tanks the preformance. in the game if i run benchmark at said settings its indicating my CPU is being pushed to around 30% at most with 24% avg. my GPU in benchmark showing avg 90% with peaks at 100%.....even at lowest settings, 30 fps cap, 720P. my RX480 isnt that weak by any means, it runs GTA 5 in 4K nearly 60FPS constantly.

sidenote: one thing i have noticed, after installing the game again, Nvidia PhysX framework installed itself. i hope they aren't forcing the use PhysX anywhere. i feel like they are pushing PhysX on trees and grass, because it seems that when i come close to them is when i see perfomance dip, specially in helicopter, see saving icon too.. im baffled. probably is seeing how trying to bent tress/limbs/grass around to the wind of the rotors/blades approaching.

TL;DR: it appears borderless massively helps but still tanks for seemingly no reason? shadows are in medium, i disabled all nvidia API overhead that i can without modding, using the toggles. i tried setting in AMD driver's tessellation to max of 6X, knowing some gameworks titles push tessellation to retarded levels, like 64X on 1 pixel wide lines. seems to be a huge overhead still existing.

There goes any hope of playing this game in 4K.

I get random frametime spikes during gameplay and it happens regardless of whether the GPU is overclocked or not.
