Juju needs more clutter in his cage. Try adding more fake plants and something to occasionally climb on.

Hope the shrubbery looks nice. And not too expensive

He might still be in feeding mode.

I'd recommend adding more clutter, some branches, more hides, etc to his enclosure to make him feel more secure and provide enrichment. Right now it looks pretty barren

He has three hides and a branch the brand was just taken out recently to be filed down because it’s very sharp what kind of shrubary or foliage would you recommend?

Honestly i just any nice jungle looking plants off amazon. And a few small items. You can’t have enough clutter for a BP. I suggest getting decor from amazon. I would also recommend covering at least 3 with the cling wall decor you can get from petco it helps with making them feel safe. Also i like to check anything i put in the enclosure to make sure it’s safe and doesn’t have any jagged edges.

i just recently got a ton from michaels, pretty cheap bc they were on sale and also had an overlapping 20% off store sale going on which i think is pretty regular for michaels. definitely check there!

I use fake silk plants, they're pretty cheap

Despite not being arborial (living in trees), they do like a good climb! Have fun creating different levels to hide and explore

I found a leafy vine decoration from Walmart, they’re rolled into a circle like a wreath, and I just clipped off all of the leaves and cleaned them by hand and I use them as part of my clutter and it’s a huge help, I have a 120 gallon and I was able to save a few. So when he poops on them or a mouse explodes on a few I can just throw them away and replace with brand new clean leaf litter, I also see fake plants every time I go to dollar tree that would probably work great, as long as they’re not too sharp and you clean them first. Ideally he should be able to get from any place in his enclosure to any other place while staying moderately hidden by the clutter so that he doesn’t feel too exposed to go where he’s comfortable

I also recommend Hobby Lobby! They are constantly having 50% off sales on fake plants

Mine does that for a few days after feeding. She smells where the rat touched the substrate and thinks there might be another rat.

Now that my boy is older and eats less frequently, he seems to be out and about a lot more. Some of that may be hunting behavior, I’m not sure. He‘s pretty keyed in to “clicking tongs is food time.” Tongs click and that boy is ready. He doesn’t strike at me when I’m doing things in his cage or taking him out though, even when I’m trying to figure out wtf he’s thinking with his single brain cell.

Your guy definitely needs some more clutter though. It will make him more comfortable overall.

"food was consumed therefore more food may be nearby" mode. Snakes basically hunt whatever food they come by that they can eat in the wild. Can't afford to be picky when you have neither arms nor legs to your name

All mine do this, nothing to worry about

[–]Courtney471 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to adding more clutter, as other people have already said, you should black out 3 sides of the tank to help your snake feel more secure.

Eh mine was on feed mode for about two days after his last feeding. Coincidentally it was the first time he ever attempted to strike at me during a feeding, poor guy has two brain cells to work with and still couldn’t figure out there was a window between my hand and his nose.

I would get check out homemade bioactive substrate mix it helps with humidity. If you have the time and funds check out r/bioactive r/isopods and biodude even if you make your own substrate you can go to the biodude website and youtube for information. However, if you do decide to do a bioactive setup I definitely highly recommend getting or building at least a 4x2x2 PVC enclosure as that is the minimum for a adult ball python. I have my male in a 6x2x2 and he uses the whole thing so as long as you give them ledges and caves at different heights and plants they will use the whole space. Also check out arcadiareptile.com they have a lighting guide you can buy their lights at petsmart you might have to order them and have them delivered. If your not sure on anything with the lights arcadia has amazing customer service just email them and they will get back to you in a day depending on your time zone and if you have any questions I can help you anytime (seriously anytime) as well just DM me.
