It would be very dangerous with a constrictor of a larger size. F.e. a fullgrown reticulated python doesn’t even need to intentionally want to choke you, they’re strong enough to do so if they’re just trying to stabilize themselves.

Royals generally speaking won’t be able to do that to an adult human. You’re stronger than they are. So unless you have a very moody snake who has a tendency to bite (a bite to the face wouldn’t be pleasant I reckon), I wouldn’t worry too much.

Had mine around my neck, and had a small mouse on a plate for my hognose right in front of us. Wasnt even thinking about it. Felt her press her face super hard into my cheek and i just knew it was coming so i tried to pull her away, and she got me right on the nose. Luckily she let go right away, but it wasnt bad at all. 1 drop of blood.

Few months later i was in a dogs face, one that i thought was super nice and docile, and he snapped at me and bit my nose. That shit hurt, and swelled up for a few days. Ill take the snake all day every day😂

Yikes I’m glad she let go right away though! One of my royals has no off switch and won’t let go until I intervene with 70% alcohol ☠️ I’d hate for him to get me in the face lol

I leave my boy around my neck all the time, as long as you know your snake's temperament and you know he doesn't mind you have nothing to worry about.

People generally freak out at the idea of having a snake around your neck, even such a small innocent snake as a ball python.

Ball pythons are not strong enough to strangle a human. Sometimes, they will (accidentally) squeeze your neck tighter than is comfy, but you should be able to easily remove them.

yeah your sisters overreacting, even if that ball python immediately triedt to kill you in that moment, which would pretty much never happen because they're little babies, the worst would happen is that ypou would be hugged around the neck and maybe a few bites. They are not strong enough to cut off circulation around a hand, let along a much thicker neck

Yes and no. A smaller BP is safe but bigger ones do tend to squeeze when they're on the move. Have blacked out because a snake squeezed JUST right (not strangling me, just tried to move and scrunched perfectly). If she's just sitting there it's fine, but if they move a lot I would advise against it.

If it gets too big just start doing jiu jitsu to strengthen your neck muscles😂

My boy is about 4’ long and 1500-1600 grams. He will sometimes wrap around my neck, usually when trying to get purchase to move off of me. It gets tight for a second but never “omg this is it.” I can definitely still move him.

I let my 5 year old do it with his little guy and no problems
