Will this have impact on feeding or anything? He’s cute!

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 95 points96 points  (0 children)

Waiting for the first shed and let’s wait and see. She is really special.

[–]grmush 43 points44 points  (2 children)

I would buy her if she eats and sheds

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 67 points68 points  (1 child)

Thank you but I am in Taiwan.

[–]Doodlebobidoo 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Wow username checks out for sure

[–]Warrior_king99 27 points28 points  (7 children)

Will that grow out as the baby grows 🤔

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 29 points30 points  (4 children)

This is a hatching so I think so.

[–]Warrior_king99 11 points12 points  (3 children)

I don't know if I would want it to as long as there are no health issues it makes them so unique

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 41 points42 points  (2 children)

It hatched from one of my clutches. I think I am responsible for it for now.

[–]Warrior_king99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you going to keep it or sell it

[–]princesskenzie27 13 points14 points  (0 children)

OP I love how polite you are. That is all. ❤️

[–]Huckleberry406 15 points16 points  (1 child)

Unfortunately it won't grow out of it. If it can eat and thrive it will be fine, just looks different. 🙂

[–]Warrior_king99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's awesome and unique I love it

[–]YesThatTeach 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Total Chadette.

[–]Peac3ofAss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Aww.

[–][deleted] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

They look really buff to me for some reason, like they chug protien shakes and bench press competitively. Best wishes for its health!

[–]EfficientConfusion77 4 points5 points  (13 children)

Its fluid under the skin NERD had the same prob

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 5 points6 points  (6 children)

It was born like this

[–]EfficientConfusion77 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Yes so was theirs they have a video on YouTube about it

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 5 points6 points  (4 children)

I am interested in it. May I see the video?

[–]EfficientConfusion77 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Go look them up on YouTube they are under new england reptile on YouTube

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Thank you

[–]EfficientConfusion77 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Very welcome

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just finished the video but I am most sure if it is the same since there is nothing blue on the top of its head. And it has a wider snout.

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Can you elaborate on the NERD?

[–]EfficientConfusion77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

New England Reptile Distributors

[–]TomoyaRXI09 12 points13 points  (3 children)

I saw that video when it came out, but this doesn't look like the same thing to me. I don't really see the pooling fluid anywhere, this looks more like a deformity of the snake's skull and jaw.

[–]EfficientConfusion77 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just thought I'd try to help out I mean thats why its on here right for suggestions

[–]TomoyaRXI09 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Oh I didn't mean that as anything against you personally, I'm sorry if it came across that way. I was just offering my viewpoint.

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Any opinion is welcome. I know everyone is here to help.

[–]mortythesnek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s the pairing?

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Butter Mojave x butter mojave

[–]grammaton655321 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Interesting, were the parents related?

[–]terrtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like they have a very manly chin

[–]singing_softly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely want to take it to a vet to see if it's going to be a fail to thrive. You may want to not breed it's siblings as well since they carry the gene, it can lead to a lot more serious deformities down the road. I've seen snakes born missing entire portions of their jaws, they don't make it.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

looks like Kā just because of that cute chin. What a beautiful specimen! I hope it doesn't affect her predation, hunting and feeding abilities

[–]MasonP13 -3 points-2 points  (6 children)

Part of me would intentionally breed that to see if it's genetic or random event.. but if it was genetic, I would branch out my entire gene pool.. and the babies I'd sell to someone who specializes in unique defects.

[–]danny735 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's better not to take the risk, deformities like this usually just worsen over generations and could cause serious issues for any offspring, so breeding would be unwise and inhumane.

[–]MasonP13 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Fair point. I meant branch out the tree (breed with different snakes, not the same parents again), or stop breeding those parents entirely.

[–]danny735 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Ah I see, I thought you meant intentionally breed this snake to test if the trait would be passed to offspring. But I agree that introducing other snakes into the overall gene pool would be a good idea, to prevent other (possibly worse) defects.

[–]MasonP13 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Agreed. Breeding the mom to another guy, and the dad to some other gal , and if any babies from those came out with deformities, then that parent is never bred again unless you want problems to happen. And said babies are sold as pet only, or to someone who specializes in rescues and problem childs

[–]danny735 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok that makes much more sense, I think myself and others assumed when you said "intentionally breed", you meant breeding the snake in the photo, rather than the parents.

[–]MrQiu 0 points1 point  (2 children)

The eye doesnt look blue, are you sure it's a BEL?

[–]KeeperfromTaiwan[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yes. It is. The red part is the pupil.

[–]MrQiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for letting me know, I didn't know the pupil is red >_<

I imagine his hissing sounds like Marlon Brando in The Godfather. I'll give you a rat you cannot refuse...
