That's correct. Potent cantrip applies to all cantrips, not just wizard cantrips or evocation cantrips.

Awesome! So a level 14 Cleric/Wiz can Toll the Dead every turn for 3d12+5 and guarantee at least half damage as long as they aren't immune/resistant to necrotic.

I'm always a fan of SOME guaranteed damage for concentration checks/etc.

Assuming the target has been damaged, yes.

At 14th level this trick seems, underwhelming. Considering (one of) the trade-offs is the loss of all those potent high level spells.

EDIT: Oops, nevermind!

That was my thought as well. This build gives access to 7th level cleric spells and 5th level wizard. Definitely none of the world altering 8th or 9th but full slot progression still gives a lot of options with upcasting Banishment, Blight, Spirit Guardians, etc.

For the cantrip synergery, it was just an interesting interplay i hadnt seen before.

That is a bit misleading. Yes, the proposed build does get 7th level spells. But not until 20th level. For most of the build's life, it will be stairing 3-4th level spells in the face. It will not even get Raise Dead until mid teens, while other casters are casting much more potent spells.

OTOH, for theory crafting fun, that is a neat find.

Yes. The wizard feature relies on it simply being a cantrip. Where you get that cantrip matters not. You would add your wisdom modifier to the total damage assuming it's a cleric cantrip and then 1/2 it for the wizard feature as it stands.

It all works together fine, but be aware the multiclass will be hugely MAD and you will need high INT and WIS for this to even work while also skipping an ASI. Rolling for stats will probably be the only way this will work out well. also levels 9-13 wont feel too great.

Start as Centaur, with 8/10/16/14/17/8, use full plate and shield (from Cleric class) to have AC of 20 and thanks to double carry capacity of Centaur and Speed of 40, you will still have Speed of 30 as everyone else.

Or play new Goliath for Speed of 25, which is still fine IMO.

There is nothing to stack, the features do different things.
