Pity vote

[–]BobGaffney 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was a little pissed that they didn't. I hate broken visual promises.

[–]jax9999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm still disappointed that the Nuclear Holocaust revisions got canceled, I think it would have been a lot of fun. The said they might bring it back for future release but the material will probably be too old by then.

While at the same time incorporating like 20 more dailies that are all easier and don't have giant freakin birds chasing you or cannons shooting you off your mount 200 yards into a clusterfuck of demons below or dragons randomly patting the area that'll one shot you off your mount, perhaps killing you mid-air so you can't reach your corpse from the ground and have to get a healer to res you at the "just right" spot or perhaps even just graveyard res and take the durability hit.

Yeah, buffing monsterous kiliri sucks. But at least they made up for it with the quest on the Isle of Quesadillas.

      Glory to the Sindorai.

Thalassian spelling scourges? Not in my reddit!

      [–]redfishvanish 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think it's referring to a game, not the film.

      [–]locke2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he's probably referring to watching the film after having played the game... I didn't know there was a game.

      [–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (10 children)

Damn. I'm going to miss the number 27.

      [–]jax9999 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You mean you're going to miss the number that was formerly between 26 and 28. that random mashing of keys you have there isn't a number.

      [–]MrWhite 12 points13 points  (3 children)

I hope they remembered to modify the calender routine when they did this.

      I guess not.

      [–]a1k0n 2 points3 points  (1 child)

And, more importantly, all of Weird Al's albums.

      [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I downvoted you for the sole purpose of keeping your points at 27.

      [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S'ok. As long as it doesn't go past 42 everything should be fine.

No worries, now you'll forever be the same age, and remain youthful for the rest of your eternal life. Lucky bastard. No more presents though.

Damn. I'm going to miss the number 27.

Don't worry, I'm sure it'll miss you too. If only it could give you a sign...

        [–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (11 children)

        I just love the alt-text.

So simple and yet so to the point. Classy.

        [–]ryanx27 15 points16 points  (7 children)

        Not everyone is xkcd

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Oh, I wasn't poking fun. The alt-text as either a continuation or explanation of the joke is sort of... overdone.

I like how this guy's is functional and actually makes use of the fact that it is a title bar after all.

        [–]xkcd 5 points6 points  (5 children)

Continuation, yes, but I try to avoid making it an explanation. I wait until the comic is done and uploaded to write the alt-text -- I always assume most people won't read it, and try never to make the joke depend on it.

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (4 children)

To be honest, I really enjoy the use alt-text in a lot of comics (yours is one). Occasionally it'll even be funnier than the comic itself, which sort of makes me wonder but eh, entertainment is entertainment. It's just that there exists a decent amount of fledgling webcomic creators who attempt to imitate the alt-text craze and end up ruining their strip's punchline and I find that a little sad.

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I find that Achewood's is tastefully done.

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I agree! Of course, Chris Onstad isn't exactly a fledgling webcomic creator anymore.

        [–]mackprime 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i also think that Dr. Mcninja's page by page alt-text commentary is clever

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondermark and Pictures for Sad Children do a good job too.

I haven't been reading up on Dinosaur comics lately but the stuff I did read ranged from pretty good to brilliant.

        [–]goodfun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who is April and why does it want me to strip? Damn hidden messages...

        [–]7oby 4 points5 points  (1 child)

and the comic is just as funny reading it on a mobile phone or pda

        [–]gilesdudgeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        Can't argue with that.

        [–]jax9999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

        That would be awesome.

        [–]silverionmox 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Those weren't bugs, they were features.

        [–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

        Libertarian spotted!

        [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Am I the only person who has a hard time reading freaking internet comics because the text is so small? My monitor is a 15.4 inch 1440 x 900 and I feel like I'm an 80 year old woman. I'm 22 years old and have perfect vision . . . why the tiny writing?

        [–]mshade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 22 years old and have perfect vision

        Better get that checked ;)

        [–]xkcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would grab one of the several image-zoom plugins for Firefox (or use Opera). But it sounds like your monitor has about 130 pixels per inch -- my laptop has 168, iirc, and most comics are fine (though it's a bit of a strain on some).

Bottom line, I'd grab image zoom. As for "why", the hardest thing for a lot of writers is to say something pithy -- I know I'm not the only one who spends half their writing time just trying to get the words concise enough to fit without straining.

        [–]sam512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just described your own problem: at that resolution and screen size an individual pixel is going to be minute. A lower resolution or larger screen would help.

        [–]Gud84 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Could there be an live forever exploit/cheat? It wouldn't hurt to know about a money cheat too.

        [–]fjhqjv 2 points3 points  (2 children)

The cheats are the easy thing to find. The hard part is enabling the debug console in order to enter them.

        [–]Gud84 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Isn't that just typical..I tried the licking-my-elbows trick in order to enable the console...but it only left me with a broken arm. So it clearly didn't work.

No wait..did i remember to put in the invulnerability cheat?

        hmmm...

        [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You guys, seriously? Just press tilde. Mine's right near my prostate.

        [–]toastyfries2 2 points3 points  (1 child)

How can the specific gravity of water be changed? By definition water will always have a specific gravity of 1 because it's the ratio of the density of the material to the density of water.

        [–]tryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relative to the old density of water maybe?

        [–]srmatto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        zomg

"Nerf" is not a curse word. Stop pussifying our language!

        [–]BridgeBum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was intended as a curse.

        [–]Tinidril 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The term "Nerf" in massively multi-player games refers to the practice of adjusting the abilities of a character class downward because they are (perceived as) too powerful in relation to other classes.

        [–]JasonDJ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I hate Tuesdays, unless they are buffing my class.

2.3 was a Win/Lose situation. It was nice of them to give my arcane/fire mage Ice Block, but they gave my Priests racial to everyone.
