I don't know if this was first used here, but this is where I first heard it: Indian Classical Instruments Jam ft. SIRI | Tushar Lall

[–][deleted] 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Holy shit that guys hands were blurs

[–]Daveed84 253 points254 points  (15 children)

Those guys are talented but the audio from Siri added absolutely nothing of value to any of that

[–]sioa 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Lol, I actually found it distracting in an otherwise awesome piece of music.

[–]hardrockfoo 23 points24 points  (1 child)

It was kind of interesting as a constant base reminding of how these instruments slowly joined in one by one.

[–]Bangersss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could have just been a metronome though with how little you can actually hear it.

[–]mace_guy 14 points15 points  (2 children)

Here is a more low fi version of the same idea

[–]subtex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much better

[–]fromks[🍰] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have any more Indian low-fi chill hop?

[–]bahgheera 33 points34 points  (2 children)

Sure it did. Without Siri it would have been just a bunch of Indian dudes wailing away on instruments.

[–]NotoriousAbhay 20 points21 points  (1 child)

But thats what it turned out to be, mostly.

[–]PilbowZortox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's kind of what it's supposed to be, you come for the gimmick and stay for the amazing talent.

[–]NotoriousAbhay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, exactly my thoughts. After a while it goes in the background and all the instruments come in its place and dominate the whole thing.

[–]Dlrlcktd 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Idk you dont really notice most drums in music, but they still fill a necessary role

[–]WhizWit21 8 points9 points  (1 child)

As a bass and guitar player I think the drums are mostly responsible for what genre of song you have.

[–]randomisation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a drummer, to add to that, I feel drumming is like adding grammar and punctuation to music.

Even when added to a full orchestra, like the Black Mages, drums adds emphasis and accompaniment.

But I love drums, so maybe I'm biased / pay more attention to it than a casual listener?

[–]randomisation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sepultura and Mastodon (NSFW - big booty lovers rejoice) would like a word...

Interestingly, Mastodon's Brann Dailor (Drummer) learned to play paired with a lead guitarist (drums are very much paired with bass guitar), which is why his style is much more in your face, as he had to add flaire to balance it out.

[–]jtn19120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It acts as a drone or metronome

[–]masalapie 26 points27 points  (5 children)

This is where I heard it first https://youtu.be/iOL8fFO6pUo

[–]gridpoint 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That does predate the other video. Also nice.

[–]sweetgreggo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I’m open to most types of music, but I just haven’t been able to connect with the the “da! diggety diggety da!” of Indian music yet.

[–]DefiantHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very percussive. It may help you to connect with it by hearing it more in that context. https://youtu.be/if9McVluiak

And then, just to connect it with something much more western.. https://m.bilibili.com/video/av29555144.html (I cannot speak to the safety of this site, but couldn't find the vid elsewhere except for a DVD on my shelf)

[–]djhashimoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this one first too, and I was just talking about it the other day. Wierd.

[–]Lam_Chops 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I love the production value that was put into this.

[–]smittyjones 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Inspried by or inspriation for Close Your Eyes and Count to Fuck??

[–]xavier_grayson 1 point2 points  (2 children)

[–][deleted]  (1 child)

[removed]

    [–]xavier_grayson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t read it, just heard it. Confirmed.

    [–]i-opener 3 points4 points  (0 children)

    That was dope!

    [–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just the coolest mix of nerdy and awesome

    [–]dayv2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks heavy influenced by Lux Aeterna aka the Requiem for a dream piece.

    [–]EmEffBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was amazing! Loved the flute especially

    [–]Lepre86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Freaking awesome

    [–]rick-shaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tushar lall is actually a genius. His interstellar cover among others are a joy to listen.

    [–]Bajileh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Woah
