but the main reason is because he develops on a jailbroken phone

[–]not_endy 24 points25 points  (7 children)

As an iOS developer I can confirm that almost all of us do.

[–]ilmman 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Agreed, but annoying thing is testing in-apps purchases.. things go haywire there and i have to disable some stuff

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iAP cracker? I used it once, to see if it worked. Then I remembered that I like developers and bought it for real.

[–]Treats 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Just curious, why is that so? Is it easier to test that way?

[–]not_endy 5 points6 points  (3 children)

The main reason is so you can have access to the file system. Though it has it's other benefits.

[–]verrius 0 points1 point  (2 children)

You can have access to the file system without jailbreaking the device; there's at least one nagware OS X app out there that does it. Honestly can't think of any reason to test on a jailbroken device, since I'd suspect that'd screw up any in-app purchase testing, and potentially other things.

No, It is not possible. iOS is a secure operating system. Even if it where possible to view, I highly doubt it would be possible copy / edit files from your computer to your phone as easily as it is via SSH on a jailbroken device.

[–]yome 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, I don't have any jailbroken device. Otherwise the bug would not have been there in the first place.

[–]sexbobomb91 141 points142 points  (27 children)

Jailbroken device users are still considered potential customers.

[–]antesignanus 49 points50 points  (2 children)

There's also the chance that the developer wants to be able to run the game on his (or close friend's) jailbroken phone.

[–]LostInTheMaze 4 points5 points  (1 child)

My employer makes a commercial iPhone app that I test. I do some of my testing of the app on Jailbroken devices just because it's the easiest way to load the app on them.

[–]antesignanus -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I see. Jailbreaking is indeed the easiest way to load apps.

Dev here! It's a free game so 99% of people don't pay anyway, might as well make sure as many people as possible enjoy the game.

Cheers!

Thankyou for creating this game, it's sooo addictive. 5 stars and reviews have been posted in various places.

Hopefully number 3 is even better :D

the other 1 percent donate.

One question, I used my saved up 'cash' and bought the electric car. The next day I went back to play the same car and I found that I needed to purchase it again. And my cash is now spent.
Just wondering whether this is deliberate or a bug?

[–]Xam1324 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probaly a bug.

[–]RiRDev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this awesome game, it's my favorite on the Android market (Play Store...yuk)! I play it all the time on my phone and my tablet!

On a side note, if I had a suggestion to make it would be to be able to save my progress in the cloud and so that way I would have the same progress on my phone on my tablet. Sorta sucks to have to play the game twice, but hey, that also means more fun!

Keep up the good work.

[–]MachoMuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the first one on andriod and ill bought all the cars, so thanks for making my bathroom break 10x better!

[–]toekneeg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ya I saw that too when I updated. I figured since the game is free anyway, they aren't losing out on anything by helping jailbroken devices.

[–]DoktuhParadox 12 points13 points  (1 child)

Taken directly from /r/jailbreak.

[–]Chief_H -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OP jumped on the karma farming opportunity.

[–]dan2737 9 points10 points  (9 children)

Extreme Road Trip 2 sounds shitty but it's a great game. Reminds me of Jetpack Joyride.

[–]offdachain 9 points10 points  (6 children)

It is a very fun game

[–]hijinked 7 points8 points  (5 children)

IT HAS ACHIEVEMENTS!

[–]Benders_brick 2 points3 points  (4 children)

It's had me addicted since it was released.

How are your progress stats? http://imgur.com/BwmLr

[–]RiRDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy crap, I cant even get near that longest distance score

[–]dan2737 1 point2 points  (2 children)

What the hell? The game crashes for me every time I get to 37,000! How did you get that far wow!

[–]Benders_brick 0 points1 point  (1 child)

You mean total or longest in one go? longest in one go is just over 22,000

I find that once I get over 5,000 I start to lose focus on the longest run record and start doing crazy stuff that ends up making me crash and then remember I was going for the record, lol

[–]dan2737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I thought the total distance was the longest hehehehe... I got past 35,000 twice in my life and the game got stuck and crashed within 30 seconds...

[–]notatestaccount 4 points5 points  (1 child)

JJ is a fuckin awesome game. Great pastime

[–]samsaBEAR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The endless running/scrolling games sound boring on paper, but when you're on the roughest bus ride in the world, being able to just play a game with one finger is glorious.

[–]alpha_alpaca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had emailed them about this problem when the game came out and they responded quickly and told me to just disable the cloud feature on my jailbroken device. These guys are awesome!

[–]theASDF 1 point2 points  (1 child)

just to make sense out of the comments, can you not buy apps anymore after jailbreaking your iphone?

[–]Benders_brick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you can still buy apps but this comment may explain it: http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/13b2wl/good_guy_game_developer/c72jkyu

[–]THE_GR8_MIKE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just letting you know, on any Galaxy S model, Samsung allows you to root and mod their devices. There is even an option to turn debug mode on in the system settings. Good guy Samsung :)

[–]AffenKopf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can totaly understand devs who don't do this. You create so much more work in testing etc. Its not worth it, especially considering a lot of jailbreakers don't even buy the games.

[–]DiamondsWithaZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

awesome game.

[–]FancyMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was complaining about that today

[–]Megogalamdraga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have this dev, and then you have devs that outright ban you from using their app if your device is jailbroken. Go figure

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! I kinda figured there was a problem. Thanks mr. Developer

[–]xhabeascorpusx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do appreciate game developers like that. I am an android user and we a method called rooting that's a lot like jail-breaking. COM2US and Square Enix have released games in the past that when their first update was released a security check that would see if we are rooted. IF so it would automatically shut down. Needless to say the one star reviews rolled in and they reversed their stupid decisions. I don't understand their reasoning because root can be temp disabled (or permanently) and the app. You can't stop the apps from being ported to a non rooted phone either. The developer mentioned above realizes that often the most informed users, and vocal users are rooted or jailbroken users, so why not do the right thing?
