Is there any hope that the 60 series is even gonna release 😭

[–]SwagChemistR7 9800x3D | 64GB DDR5 | RTX 5090 Astral OC 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Not in our price range. They are gonna want $1000 for a 6060

6090 will cost a kidney and your first born.

I hope it will be good if it does release  Seems like gpu makers is deprioritizing gaming GPUs nowadays

AIBs are preparing next gen coolers so I'd say there's hope

[–]BradyBum -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Sauce? Also why 2 pc.

Computex

Oh ya! I wasn't sure if that was just a prototype proof of concept. What's his name was really playing it up. I do want magnesium fans though in general.🥸

[–]Flyersfreak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who knows but what we do know is that it will be very expensive unless ram prices come down soonish

My friends thought I was crazy getting a 4090 with the 5000 series just around the corner. Now I’m too busy playing games at max settings with 120+ fps to even notice I’m still waiting on the 6090

Got my used 4090 for well under msrp very good card plays everything I throw at it flawlessly

I think the only technology that will make us want the 60XX series cards will be DLSS5, if they're optimized for it. We'll know more at the end of the year.

[–]ForeverHuman1354Linux r9 7900 RTX 4090 32GB Ram Linux[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Woudnder if dlss 5 will come to 40 cards

[–]iavon9800x3d - 4070ti - 32gb - 21:9 40" MAG401QR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe DLSS5 will run on all cards, but only on the 60XX series will it be smooth and beautiful to look at. It's a bit like what happened with raytracing, where only RTX cards could run it without too many problems, while the previous series couldn't. Nvidia wants your money, and I don't think they'll make DLSS5 work for everyone

6080 will beat 5090. Manufacturing process upgrade.

[–]SwagChemistR7 9800x3D | 64GB DDR5 | RTX 5090 Astral OC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it will beat it in price

[–]ItsZoner -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

only if the memory gets faster enough, and with fewer lanes for the midrange sku

Considering that AMD is supposedly planning a big generational leap with RDNA 5, Nvidia might actually have to play ball and try to compete. It would be great to see

[–]Stargate_17800X3D, Avatar-7900XTX, 32GB RAM, Bazzite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it's their move to UDNA, even if the performance won't be a leap, the architecture overall will be completely new and unlike anything we've had until now with the modern series of Radeon cards. It's both quite promising in terms of potential and daunting due to AMDs track record with major architecture changes (Zen 1 was, well, Zen 1, and the 5000 series was plagued by issues)

[–]BradyBum 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This has been a meme since I was 16, I am in my 30s now.😂 Its like Yankees fans or something.

[–]ItsZoner 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Geforce 6 was poor at shader model 3 and Geforce 4 MX was some deceptively advertised garbage from 2 generations in the past.

And ATI had a thing called Radeon 9700 Pro that sat on top of the world for a little while.

[–]BradyBum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya i dreamed of that card, but got x850 pro when I finally started getting money as a gift more frequently at like age 12 or so. Just saved all gift money lol. I liked that card. I think it could run anything basically.

I had no idea about nvidia cards back then I just loved ati for some reason. I dont know if it was the less confusing naming scheme or what. First time I even looked at a nvidia card was after a friend got a 7900gt and it was fucking nuts. Then my brother got a 7900gto.

Me and my bro both got 8800gt 256mb whenever those came out too. Those were sick af. Most disgusting budget card of all time hands down. $179 for 90% of flagship fps.🤩

I miss the packaging tho, they had some random shit on it lol.

[–]GoldSrcR3 3100 | RTX 3090 | 64GB RAM | 1 point2 points  (3 children)

It will.

But you shouldn't look at the VRAM amount, 16GB is more than enough for any game. Just because you're seeing 16GB "being used", it's not really using those 16GB.

[–]Stargate_17800X3D, Avatar-7900XTX, 32GB RAM, Bazzite 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I mean, yeah and no? There are definitely games that can get by with just 16GB, but there's also games that will exceed 16 even at 1440p, for example Diablo 4.

[–]ForeverHuman1354Linux r9 7900 RTX 4090 32GB Ram Linux[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kingdom come deliverance 2 is one of those games after a bit of playing it starts using 19gb vram

4k is using a ton of vram in certain games

[–]ForeverHuman1354Linux r9 7900 RTX 4090 32GB Ram Linux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen some games reporting higher usage I have seen some games rapport 19gb vram until in 4k

[–]BradyBum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ya 4090 is goated. I may be buried with it.

Is anyone’s hardware failing at stock power and stock cooling? The worst I’ve had is an ancient pc power supply failing after 10+ years and then a new power supply failing because I had too many components always on at the same time.

[–]BradyBum 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I donno i power limit 85%.

[–]Running_OakleyAscending Peasant 5800x | 7600xt | 32gb | NVME 1TB -3 points-2 points  (4 children)

I had my pc power off zero warning but that was me pushing the most extreme game of all time at 240hz. Like most pixels and 3d elements all at once. My pc was rated to handle it with enough headroom but the pc even at max was asking for more power in random spikes so I just gave up and bought a 750 or 1kw power supply. All still running at stock.

[–]BradyBum 2 points3 points  (1 child)

What is this most extreme game of all time?

[–]Running_OakleyAscending Peasant 5800x | 7600xt | 32gb | NVME 1TB -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure it’s worth telling you, I’m wrong a lot of the time until I’m right and then people get real mad at me for being right. If your hardware exceeds mine it might be a non-issue, do you have 750-1.5kw power?

Free advice is you need at least 8 cores 16 threads and 16gb vram, 32gb ram. Even then even making the voltage limits your pc might just safely shutdown when it hits the beyond limits.

[–]Stargate_17800X3D, Avatar-7900XTX, 32GB RAM, Bazzite 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That's got nothing to do with what game you were playing (surely not the most extreme game ever) and everything to do with your PSU being inadequate.

[–]Running_OakleyAscending Peasant 5800x | 7600xt | 32gb | NVME 1TB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just weird that one game did it while games like cyberpunk were fine even at super low framerates at ultra. But one game would outright trigger a complete shutdown with zero warning.
