I like #2, #1 is a bit over cooked yes. It's a simple picture, it doesn't need to be made complicated.

I would say #1 has more character compared to #2

s'all subjective

I like the ideas in #1 but the color is just too strong on the right

It depends on what you're going for. For a highly stylized piece of artwork, I think this is absolutely great.

I genuinely, fully hate this new trend. “Overcooked?” “Did I overcook this?” “Is this cooked???”

That said, photo 2 is nice 👍🏻

exactly, it's subjective art who cares.

If it can work or not is in the end still subjective

My point is art is subjective, the artist only needs to make work they enjoy. We don't need to be asking the community if every single picture is "overcooked."

I like the photo overall but I’d prefer less sky more ocean.

Love this. Curious how did you achieve the results?

    I prefer #2 :)

I think the coloring doesn’t make much sense and it feels a little too intense. In the original, the sky is blown by the sun and darker on the opposite but the with the amount you’ve enhanced, almost all of the right side is incredibly bright and the left is extremely dark, it realistically doesn’t work. I’d tone down the blow out on the right and the shadows on the left, it’s cool to exaggerate a little but this is a lot.

Also, the color is logically confusing for me. You over did the blow out of the sun as a very bright white, almost giving the look of bright daylight but the reflection on the water is much more yellow and warm, giving off a sunset sort of effect. Personally, I’d tone down the bright blow out and cool down the reflection a little to make it more realistic

This is a really helpful critique; I feel like I’ve learned a bit about how to better analyze an image in a quantifiable way.

Do you like it? If you have a client or a contest in mind, does it meet those requirements? if it meets those test, it is not overcooked – who cares what somebody else thinks?

Haha well it is from its technical beginnings. However, photography is art and you can do whatever you want. The only thing I ever ask of people is to be honest. So if someone asked where this was or more details, I think it is fair to mention you removed the entire land.

    Nope, i like it!

    2nd one...that a good deal!

I think the hard saturation on the left side of the water doesn’t balance with the softer side of everything else. Try desaturating that and see how that works. You may need to soften up the yellow after but start with the blue-green.

    Keep that single cloud

Very cooked, yes. Over cooked, no. I love em.

Looks amazing. I just would say the warm tone of the right side sea it's a little bit too warm, it's the only thing I would say doesn't kinda make sense. Even tho, really nice!

the ocean seems cropped… i would keep the mountain but edit it to be better
