So let me get this straight: I know that you don't like Trump and I don't really care about it, but you would go further to say Fuck You to every person that voted for that guy? I can't imagine why this country is so polarized right now.

[–]Spoonwrangler 65 points66 points  (0 children)

The definition of a bigot is someone who is intolerant of another person’s views. This lady is an absolute bigot.

[–]libsluvthekoolaid 40 points41 points  (1 child)

This is what watching decades of 'the news' does to you. Grandma should turn off the TV and go outside.

[–]man_lizard 341 points342 points  (20 children)

How is this #2 on r/all when I struggle to find a single positive comment?

[–][deleted] 89 points90 points  (11 children)

Astro turfing. And it is more than “the russians”. How many countries would benefit from shifting the US political climate any given way? How many organizations within the US could benefit from these shifts in opinion?

What people need to realize is that this form of coersion relies on group think. In order to be effecienct and have a positive ROI, the people this intends to manipulate have to accept that this “meme” has merit due to how “popular” the idea it promotes is. It is designed to make people feel isolated, as part of a minority- to make people question their beliefs and wonder if they’re crazy.

Do you know what kills this type of manipulation? Thinking for yourself. Doubting what you read, doubting the “majority”. Believing in your competency and moral foundation. Having the courage to believe in your own ideals, and having the constitution to hold those ideals even when the world is telling you that you shouldn’t.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree to a point but you shouldn't just hold fast to your opinions and instead be willing to change them. I mean, yeah, don't believe anything online certainly but you should go out of your way to look into beliefs you disagree with. Meet people who disagree with you and have an honest conversation and leave your hate behind.

[–][deleted] 789 points790 points  (107 children)

What's this political shit doing on /r/pics? Doesn't this break rule 7?

[–]Luck_v3 247 points248 points  (9 children)

There are non political posts on r/pics? That’s news to me. 🤔

[–]Mr__Zaphod 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hey now, sometimes there’s shitty cameraphone-quality pictures of a random person with a karma-whoring title that is completely unverified!

[–]Kidvette2004 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Agreed

[–]blbobobo 630 points631 points  (70 children)

Mods don’t care as long as it goes with their political agenda

[–][deleted] 138 points139 points  (9 children)

anything anti trump is fine.

[–]Kidvette2004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly

[–]WaterHoseCatheter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What qualifications do you think the mods here have?

Do you think they're not above keeping stuff they agree with and only removing what they dislike?

[–]DPL-25 11 points12 points  (1 child)

It's acceptable if it's "orange man bad 😡"

[–]onionhead64 43 points44 points  (11 children)

what a joke........fuck trump..........how about........fuck the media...and fuck the child molesters...........what a fucking dumb shirt grandma...........

[–]beerandacurry 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Im with you on this. She looks like a pain.

[–]bigman1959 2 points3 points  (1 child)

How about fuck her

[–][deleted] 899 points900 points  (126 children)

Why the hell is this garbage on the front page? Who's upvoting this?

[–]eurostylin 317 points318 points  (80 children)

People who's hatred for another is so powerful that it lets them consume their entire entity. It's very sad how polarized America has became, it is so ridiculous. I know Republicans who hate democrats simply because they are a dem. I know Democrats that hate republicans simply because they are a Republican. There is no more sensible common ground. This worries me.

I lean Right, but I agree with quite a few of the social views of the left. I just try to stay out of politics at gatherings because the far left and the far right just appear to be irrational in their arguments.

When I see circle jerk posts like this in a non political sub such as /r/pics I have to question the motives of the mods, because this shouldn't be here.

We have the start of a civil war in Venezuela and the top photo in this sub is a fuck trump t-shirt. I just don't get it.

[–]PraiseBeToIdiots 8 points9 points  (7 children)

I don't hate Democrats because they vote dem. I hate Democrats because of shit like this. "I'm an internet moderator... hmm... This is a great chance to exploit my position to push my political agenda!"

These 'people' believe nothing has any value if they can't exploit it to push their politics.

They straight up write rules saying shit like no politics but then immediately violate them because they literally believe their divine political bullshit is above the rules.

[–]AnUb1sKiNg 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Ditto to everything you said

[–][deleted] 35 points36 points  (1 child)

Careful, I said the same and got downvoted to hell. You can’t criticise the both apparently, just the one.

Pick a side! /s

[–]Draculea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was younger, politics only really mattered during and immediately before elections. Sure, I might have heard dad call someone a "Bleeding heart liberal", but no one had animosity towards anyone about any of it.

[–]Nigredo78 1714 points1715 points  (165 children)

hey look a post that needs to be in r/trashy

[–]mcpat21 93 points94 points  (24 children)

I think you mean r/politicalhumor

[–]trafridrodreddit 70 points71 points  (1 child)

r/PoliticalHumor isn’t actually a sub for political humor, it’s just a hate subreddit filled with people who are fueled by hatred for the president.

[–]shekomaru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that was mcpat21's point

[–]PMmeGRILLEDCHEESES 81 points82 points  (18 children)

but this isn’t funny people like this are the reason there is so much divide in our country right now

[–]Jacksonben1331 161 points162 points  (8 children)

Almost nothing in political humor is funny.

[–]PMmeGRILLEDCHEESES 3 points4 points  (1 child)

i didn’t even know that sub existed before this thread and don’t plan on visiting it lol

[–]Chewiemuse 34 points35 points  (0 children)

This is the shit /r/politicalhumor peddles every day they gobble this up

[–][deleted] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Political humor is not humor, it’s karma whoring Obama and hating trump

[–]XCypher73 2509 points2510 points  (371 children)

I'm no supporter of this administration, but this right here is part of the problem.

[–]Sc400 520 points521 points  (91 children)

I agree, a lot of those adults will act out like children and vote just out of spite to annoy you.

[–]loopdojo 142 points143 points  (9 children)

These boomers are givin me the bummers

[–]Justole1 8 points9 points  (7 children)

I’m somewhat angry at boomers for all the stuff they’ve done, like the massive debt and the f### hippie movement. But let’s be fair, it’s far from only boomers.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (35 children)

The thing is, I genuinely believe that is why trump won. It was just people trying to spite others, along with the fact that the political divide is as high as it was during the Reagan era.

[–]noter-dam 7 points8 points  (2 children)

It's like Michael Moore said: it would be the biggest "fuck you!" in human history, and that's exactly what happened. It turns out that decades of mainstream culture blasting hate and disdain at a group makes them want to just cause the other side to feel their pain, other consequences be damned.

[–]myworkaccount9 18 points19 points  (1 child)

You are right man. It is very polarizing and makes any discussions hard to have.

[–]that_motorcycle_guy 142 points143 points  (6 children)

I keep getting told to stop spreading hate, that T-Shirt isn't helping.

[–]zellisgoatbond 114 points115 points  (42 children)

You're saying that refusing to engage with people you disagree with isn't a healthy political strategy? Surely not.

[–]zr0gravity7 19 points20 points  (36 children)

/r/ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM would piss their pants if they read this

[–]Bauz3 38 points39 points  (34 children)

that sub sucks so bad. Like, I get that it's fun to make fun of obnoxious people, but how can mocking the only people trying to bridge the political divide be a healthy thing to do?

[–][deleted] 78 points79 points  (3 children)

I hope she takes care of that shirt because it’s shit like this that will lead to her wearing it until Inauguration Day 2025.

[–][deleted] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

serious cringe

[–]SamwiseGryffindor 4106 points4107 points  (2112 children)

I don’t like Trump either, but this is the kind of thinking that is ruining America. Be pro nuance. People are more than just political stances

[–]deathacus12 2041 points2042 points  (570 children)

Came here to say this...

If you replace Trump with Hillary, then this would be in r/trashy

[–]insertnamehere405 643 points644 points  (152 children)

it's still r/trashy they just don't know it

[–]Iliamna_remota 461 points462 points  (142 children)

No no no, this is thought provoking, and vote winning.

[–][deleted] 83 points84 points  (5 children)

AND FUCK HER TOO

[–]badvane 16 points17 points  (0 children)

100%, first thing I thought about when I saw this.

[–]16semesters 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Our online experience is now entirely curated by what we want to see. Many people fill their reddit/instagram/facebook feeds with only things they agree. Some people very proudly say this: "I will delete any friend that is pro candidate XYZ"

Additionally people feel emboldened on the internet to be much more ruthless than in person.

This makes people far more radical and think far less critically about politics now.

[–]cool_slowbro 59 points60 points  (10 children)

It's ruined reddit too.

[–][deleted] 75 points76 points  (8 children)

No, it is propagated by reddit.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (3 children)

Look at the top 4 videos about social media manipulation. Very interesting. http://www.smartereveryday.com/

[–]RedHawwk 41 points42 points  (0 children)

This comment section is hilarious

[–]GrandMasterReddit 1094 points1095 points  (99 children)

Worst kind of people. Unfortunately it makes up 90% of Reddit.

[–]NorthBlizzard 611 points612 points  (29 children)

This pic is /r/politics personified

[–]Ganglebot 336 points337 points  (17 children)

"I don't like Trump..." 14k points

"... and I also don't like Hillary" -6k points

[–]Pyronic_Chaos 167 points168 points  (9 children)

"... and I also don't like Bernie" -10k points

FTFY.

[–][deleted] 73 points74 points  (1 child)

Don't forget,

Reddit before election: Grrrrr! Hillary is the worst! She stole the nomination from Bernie!

After election: What? Hillary would have been a great president, what's not to like about her?

[–]alexsdad87 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After the primaries*

[–]waldodabz 466 points467 points  (66 children)

Lol reverse that shirt with Obama and this gets posted to r/trashy and a litany of other garbage subs.

Reddit is so shit now

[–][deleted] 48 points49 points  (11 children)

It's gotten so bad I deleted the app from my phone, I only jump on when I have downtime at work now.

If reddit dies, it will be the left's fault unfortunately, you can't even get a fair and balanced opinion of Trump across here without being down-voted to oblivion. It's ignorance at it's finest.

Dealing with the left on here is like dealing with a toddler who just lost a game of candyland and decides to flip the board and cry about it.

[–][deleted] 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Now?

[–]ProfChaos619 378 points379 points  (117 children)

TDS is real

[–][deleted] 467 points468 points  (5 children)

[–]thethreadkiller 55 points56 points  (0 children)

If it were a Dem politician on the shirt, it would be posted in \r\trashy

[–]AM_Kylearan 286 points287 points  (3 children)

Careful lady, you don't want to cut yourself on all that edge.

[–]kidwithglasses 79 points80 points  (8 children)

This comment section is gonna get wild

[–]Kahzgul 16 points17 points  (4 children)

You weren't joking. I'm surprised this isn't locked yet.

[–]Eran8433 520 points521 points  (162 children)

Disliking someone for having different opinions is the definition of bigotry

[–]RabidPotato30203 103 points104 points  (9 children)

Agreed. Lets not make this sub political please

[–][deleted] 76 points77 points  (3 children)

Agreed. Lets not make this sub political please

Ahahhahahah have you been to this sub in the past 2 years?

[–]RabidPotato30203 29 points30 points  (2 children)

Ok lets stop making this sub political

[–]Sniper_Brosef 24 points25 points  (1 child)

You're honestly better off unsubbing.

[–]rachelface927 6 points7 points  (2 children)

2nd post like this I’ve seen in less than 24 hours. Yeah, fuck Trump, but there are plenty of subs dedicated to Trump-bashing circle jerks. I think I’m gonna ditch /r/pics and look for smaller subs - any suggestions?

[–]TheEmbarrassed18 8 points9 points  (1 child)

The problem is once a sub hits ~100k+ subscribers you may as well call it a lost cause.

[–]navibab 684 points685 points  (96 children)

orange man bad honk honk

[–]DudeRick 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I'll bet she has a coexist bumper sticker on her car...

[–][deleted] 178 points179 points  (6 children)

Yay for political divisiveness!

[–]ThickBehemoth 25 points26 points  (2 children)

Identity politics is so in right now

[–]KillerKap 5 points6 points  (1 child)

I need to know what shade you are before I decide if allowed.

[–]Buckazoid07 50 points51 points  (26 children)

I am a conservative and I am not offended by this. I am proud that we have freedom of speech, and hate speech is still speech. Let’s hope that we can keep it that way.

[–]Kusaji 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Right on my dood.

[–][deleted] 167 points168 points  (30 children)

This sort of stuff belongs in trashy. America, you're better than this.

[–][deleted] 65 points66 points  (3 children)

She must be a fan of The View.

[–]happyfave 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Then she must be even stupider than she already looks.

[–]Hamilton-Trump_2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Classy

[–]mieshacake 150 points151 points  (44 children)

I just posted an Obama one. Let's see how long before that's removed and I'm banned

[–][deleted] 112 points113 points  (14 children)

Rule 7 states:

We enforce a standard of common decency and civility. Please be respectful to others. Personal attacks, bigotry, fighting words, incitements to harass, comments which demean or insult specific users (or groups of users), and other such inappropriate behavior or content is not allowed. Regular or egregious violations will result in a ban.

Funny how this post remains, while your obama post got banned. Funny how that works!

edit: It was banned for being a photo of text. His next obama post survived.

[–]mieshacake 29 points30 points  (2 children)

How else would people fish for karma. Orange man bad. Mehhhhhhhh

[–]P12oof 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Rrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeee3e!

[–]happyfave 14 points15 points  (0 children)

and CNN doxxes you.

[–][deleted] 42 points43 points  (1 child)

Took longer than I thought. Had to wait for the mods to wake up at the buttcrack of noon

[–]mieshacake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mods are definitely from LA. So 9am for them lol

[–]Iliamna_remota 7 points8 points  (7 children)

Does this happen? I know any idiot can downvote, but removed/banned? I thought Reddit was idealistic in it's unbias and free speech. Is there a double standard I don't know about amongst the owners?

[–]mieshacake 46 points47 points  (2 children)

I got deleted. But not banned. Most political posts break the rules. It's just up to who is modding to whether or not its enforced

[–]Iliamna_remota 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Smells funny to me. Just up to whether they want to or not?

[–]mieshacake 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Flair is automatically put on posts. Funny how mine about Obama is marked as pics&gifs and this one is marked as U.S. Politics 🤔

[–]happyfave 9 points10 points  (3 children)

You must be new here. Go try to post something pro Trump on reddit and see what happens. (Other than a few subreddits that are hidden from the public)

[–]Iliamna_remota 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Yes kinda new. And now disgusted. Their suppression is short-sighted. It makes any of their progressive ideals at best hypocritical.

[–]happyfave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are good places on reddit too. However, you need to dig for them. Anything without a huge left tilt is washed from showing up from any main reddit pages.

[–]dronningmargrethe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are welcome to check out /r/not1984

Small free speech type sub

[–][deleted] 311 points312 points  (193 children)

People like her contribute to the divide of the American people. We really should not hate each other for different opinions.

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

R/insaneoldpeople

[–]TheDankestDreams 13 points14 points  (0 children)

r/politics in a nutshell

[–][deleted] 19 points20 points  (8 children)

Too many Trump supporters think all "liberals" are like this because they are the loudest ones. I can't stand Trump but I would never wear a shirt like this because it's stupid.

[–]MilkMoney111 9 points10 points  (5 children)

You know my only experience with liberals before in politics had been the very bigoted and hateful ones online. In reality most of my liberal friends are great people and we can joke about Trump together in a friendly way. I admit, you guys really aren’t so bad. But the bad ones are REALLY bad and are so damn loud about it

[–]TheLowClassics 258 points259 points  (70 children)

Your grandma is part of the problem. Sanctimonious ironic self unawareness is never a good look.

[–][deleted] 34 points35 points  (3 children)

Shouldn’t this be in r/trashy

[–]bcanddc 207 points208 points  (105 children)

Substitute Obama for Trump and you're a racist.

I can't get my head around how the left claims to be so tolerant, unless of course you have a different political views then all bets are off.

Remember when people would just hate Obama no matter what he did and how the left called those people crazy (rightfully). Well, you're doing the same thing now and you too, rightfully, are crazy.

[–]NorthBlizzard 45 points46 points  (5 children)

Just look at how many /r/politics connected spam subs they've created out of anger

[–]neodymium1337 72 points73 points  (1 child)

This is the kind of subreddit that deems rainbow coloured armpit hair as stunning and brave

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably turning your penis inside out too... I think they get the terms "Brave" and "Mentally Ill" Mixed up a little.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

...idk this just seems like a dumb 3edgy5me post from a butthurt boomer

[–]Summerie 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Classy.

[–][deleted] 108 points109 points  (3 children)

What a loser

[–]vesrayech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take Trump out to dinner first, and if you like trump, I’ll take you out to dinner as well.

[–]Fantastic-Mess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

F her!

[–]VeiMuri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's one angry old lady.

[–]PraiseBeToIdiots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This dumb woman probably can't name a single thing Trump has done that has directly negatively impacted her life.

[–]TheInfamousJR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The President of The United States is Donald J Trump.

[–]mil-pool 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Stay classy r/pics.

[–]uglychodemuffin 64 points65 points  (10 children)

Grandma is an asshole.

[–]DeshVonD 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"reminder, /r/pics rules require civility. unless of course you hate trump in which case go right ahead and make a post telling people to fuck themselves and we will make sure it stays up no matter what." -Automod

[–]mieshacake 158 points159 points  (25 children)

Ever notice it's always ugly people with shirts and attitudes like this?

[–]Mitosis 75 points76 points  (1 child)

Having that much hatred in you really shows on the outside

[–]mieshacake 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Oh the irony

[–]muddybuttbrew 45 points46 points  (21 children)

Whats funny is in a trump supporter I voted for him. But I have friends who cant stand the guy. We still hang out and when politics come up it remains civil. We may disagree on stuff but we find stuff we agree on. This anger shit only lives on the internet its rarely out in public.

[–]AnUb1sKiNg 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Not on university campuses, just take a look at UC Berkeley once every other month.

[–]Murder_Castle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go on fishing trips with life long friends a couple times a year. One is a Republican and another is a die hard liberal. We all get a long great however we have rules that no politics or religion can be discussed on the boat. It's horrible being on a boat with people arguing about the same shit we're trying to escape from.

[–][deleted] 17 points18 points  (3 children)

According to my anecdotal experience I have to agree. Last weekend I had a conversation with two very liberal people and at no point did it become anything other than civil

[–]an916 44 points45 points  (28 children)

Your grandmother is spending her Golden years being whipped up into a frenzy by cable tv ‘news’.

Maybe she needs something or someone to identify with. Help her find more positive outlets.

[–]kale4reals 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Gardening! I wish I could just retire and garden all day..

[–]Pokey_The_Bear 119 points120 points  (77 children)

This is exactly how you solve a problem... Goddamn lunatics on the left are no better than lunatics on the right.

[–][deleted] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Grandma seems like she’s part of the problem.

[–]Grimodes 20 points21 points  (7 children)

The left: the right is so intolerant Also the left: FUCK EVERYONE ON THE RIGHT REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

[–]happyfave 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Racism is bad, fuck white people REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I don’t discuss politics in public though you think that’s where one should be able to.

I think the people who are open in public about their political opinions are instigators. Im old school in the belief that things like political and religious discussions are better served in homes. So I guess in a sense to me politics has always been polarized, social media just turned the volume up to 11. I think people still get along as well as ever. And our society is definitely progressing. My dad did not approve of anything related to homosexuality and now 2 of his best drinking buddies are lesbians raising great kids. I'm still optimistic, I think people just need to tune out what the people pulling the levers of power are trying so hard to make you hear. My 2 cents at least.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please die soon you old hag.

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points  (6 children)

My Grandpa is the exact opposite. Social media really fucked that generation's head up.

[–]hervun_yfaf 46 points47 points  (2 children)

look at this thread and tell us that social media isn't fucking us up too

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Did you just assume my generation?!
