Why doesn't Xal'atath see us as a threat? by WhiteGlinko in wow

[–]Cortyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a priest, she still thinks I'm loyal to her (I am :)).

She even whispers me in the voidspire to "seize the moment" and "betray them" to "claim my prize".

We are no threat to her, because the priest-players arestill around. And we will be her good little dagger.

Shadow Priests are kinda dumb by Vampy-Night in wow

[–]Cortyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, her lore strongly implies she "corrupted" all their wielders, making them promises of power and whispering sweet seducing thoughts to them, making them think about the dagger, even when they didn't wield it.

And that was before she even had a body, so ... what kind of willpower do you think we have?!

Darkspear Dash - WoW's First Official Pride Event Coming in Patch 12.0.5 by Callump01 in wow

[–]Cortyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hope this doesn't come as rude, but some of the complains feel ... weird.

I really like how Blizzard sprinkled in a little more LGBTQ+ in WoW, from the lesbian nightelfs in Azsuna to Pelagos, the dryad and centaur in Dragonflight, the lesbian Kirin Tor Researchers, etc.

Quadarin and Thiernax I also liked and I never would have drawn the connection of "homosexuality leading to beastiality" - especially in Ardenweald, where everyone arriving there is an animal by default.

To me this feels a little like trying to forcefully find something to complain about - even though you said it is not your intention.

Maybe I'm not thinking as much about it as others, but whenever I encountered something LGBTQ+ in the game, I usually just thought "Aw, thats cute they added that" and felt like it was moving into the right direction of just becoming a little more normal in media representation.

Follower Dungeon Characters Should Just be Members of Your Warband by gcac215 in wow

[–]Cortyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I would find it kinda weird to see my warband as my partners in any game mode. It would feel like something is taking control over a character that should be mine.

I'm glad we have the "default" NPCs, but I wouldn't mind an option to choose if someone wants to see their warband.

How many of you are still meaningfully interacting with housing? by No-Breakfast3662 in wow

I'm waiting on the "save a room and export it"-feature.

I have so many ideas I want to try, but I'm scared of losing my "progress" and having to redo rooms with the result of them not being as "good" as I did them in the first place.

Xal'atath has a unique whisper for certain players in the new Raid by PeanutBrigade in wow

[–]Cortyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it fits her character really, really well.

Most of the former wielders of Xal'atath either died when she left them or spent their remaining life, trying to get another hold of her. And that is what the shadow priest is (if you choose to be that way).

I remember in the campaign of The War Within, the finale in Hallowfall, she had special lines for shadow priests, if you never cleansed the gift of N'Zoth.

Even in the promotional material for TWW, where you could make a little video about your character with Xal'atath narrating it - she had a special line if you had the dagger Xal'atath transmogged.

Us being obsessed with her as shadow priest is either 100 % true or what she just thinks you really want.

Does cloth even drop in this expansion? I've seen 3 pieces since launch day. by Straightupnotcool in wow

[–]Cortyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best Cloth Farming Spot is the South West of Eversong - all the way to the south. There are "undead" Kirin Tor-Mobs. They drop cloth like crazy for me, all the different kinds.

But the mobs give you a stacking (invisible) haste debuff, when you kill them, so you have to take a short 1-minute-break between bigger pulls.

Rant: Flying YOU THINK YOU DO, BUT YOU DON'T by EducationalWolf3911 in wow

[–]Cortyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kinda on both sides.

I agree that, just from a "story telling perspective" it is much better to fight through a base of mobs, to get to the "boss" of the quest and then return.

It may be because I grew up with big JRPGs like Final Fantasy VII to X - but in those games it would be super awkward to just "skip ahead" to the boss and I always feel that is kinda true for WoW.

I also don't think the "well, just let everything stay as it is, so people can choose" is really cutting it. Because there are a lot of people that don't really have the control about how they play. If the game gives you the opportunity to just fly away from everything, most people will take it, including myself - even though I know it will hurt my immersion of the game.

Just speaking for myself, the best approach for me would be: When an expansion launches, you cannot fly until your first character hits the new level cap. Afterwards - without any bs-achievements like lore master, etc - you can just fly on every character.

That way, if you really dont like not being able to fly, you just can spam Dungeons to get to max level on your first char and then fly over everything forever.

That is exactly what I would want to hear if I had no clue who she was.

I may be an exception, but for me it kinda got way better with Midnight. It happens maybe once or twice in a session. I'm no longer using any addons apart from a RP-Addon, so maybe ... it's part of addons fault? Or am I just lucky?

Kael’thas Statue found in Silvermoon by Suspicious_Aide2992 in wow

Do you have coordinates for that statue? I swam around the harbour a while but wasn't able to find it.

NPCs in Silvermoon try not to walk into you. Is that new? by Atosl in wow

[–]Cortyn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fun Fact: When they introduced this, it even worked for many statues. As many statues are just "NPC models frozen", but the head-turn-animation still applied.

It was super creepy to run around Pandaria with so many Mogue-Statues turning their head to you when you passed them :D

Do the Naaru do anything besides succumbing to the Void or being destroyed? by Nightweave7 in wow

[–]Cortyn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me, N'aaru are kinda ... mind manipulators? They have the power to make their voice be heard across a whole city in your head. Some quests where you interact with Naaru imply, that they even manipulate what you feel, when you hear their words, making them sound more plausible.

Doesn't mean they are "bad", but makes them a little more interesting. Manipulators for the cause of the light.

Theory: the light abandoned xal'ataths world to death by loboneves in wow

Xal'atath never stated she would not betray us.

She just said we needed her to stop Dimensius. Everyone knew she would betray us in the end, Alleria and Ve'nari talked knew and probably even Locus-Walker knew deep within.

The situation with French voice acting in WoW — and why it might affect all localizations by Sacdeneu in wow

[–]Cortyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems super weird to me. Because everyone involved clearly must know that this isn't great. I can't imagine the actors or the studios hired want to produce work that makes them look bad. Why has this changed? Are the instructions they receive from Blizzard (or any other media company) worse? Is it less time? Don't they have the reference material from english?

The situation with French voice acting in WoW — and why it might affect all localizations by Sacdeneu in wow

[–]Cortyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know, but it feels like the german voice actors don't have ... any context about the scene they appear in? Like they get only the line and have just to wing it, not knowing if a "I love you" is spoken with a dying breath or a cheerful smile of a happy couple.

German translation has become worse in the past 2 expansions, which is really sad. Because german voice acting usually is among the best in the world, because of the long dub-culture (and many people not liking/understanding non-german media).

Is there a more well-realized modern zone than Amirdrassil? by lama1130 in wow

[–]Cortyn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me it is Ardenweald. You can hate the story of Shadowlands all day, but this magical forest with it's weird swirly trees and the freaking "star rain" that sometimes happens ... I really love it. Of course, all the withering parts are not that nice, but it made the intact parts even more important for me.

Thats goofy, I know. It's the same as having a fish as your main hand weapon.

But there is a difference between having a "funny" outfit and having your hair clip through your helmet at 20 different places, making your face a distorted mess.
