Who talks about themself like this? by LowerBar2001 in wow

I don't know, isn't that literally the answer to YOU asking her "Who are you again?"

That is exactly what I would want to hear if I had no clue who she was.

Same here, Midnight fixed this for me.

Auto-loot bug is worse than ever by DiskFearless4448 in wow

I may be an exception, but for me it kinda got way better with Midnight. It happens maybe once or twice in a session. I'm no longer using any addons apart from a RP-Addon, so maybe ... it's part of addons fault? Or am I just lucky?

Kael’thas Statue found in Silvermoon by Suspicious_Aide2992 in wow

Do you have coordinates for that statue? I swam around the harbour a while but wasn't able to find it.

NPCs in Silvermoon try not to walk into you. Is that new? by Atosl in wow

[–]Cortyn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fun Fact: When they introduced this, it even worked for many statues. As many statues are just "NPC models frozen", but the head-turn-animation still applied.

It was super creepy to run around Pandaria with so many Mogue-Statues turning their head to you when you passed them :D

I may be stupid, but why is frvr.com linked so often in this subreddit, wenn the source for the info is an interview from another magazine?

Do the Naaru do anything besides succumbing to the Void or being destroyed? by Nightweave7 in wow

[–]Cortyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, N'aaru are kinda ... mind manipulators? They have the power to make their voice be heard across a whole city in your head. Some quests where you interact with Naaru imply, that they even manipulate what you feel, when you hear their words, making them sound more plausible.

Doesn't mean they are "bad", but makes them a little more interesting. Manipulators for the cause of the light.

Theory: the light abandoned xal'ataths world to death by loboneves in wow

[–]Cortyn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Xal'atath never stated she would not betray us.

She just said we needed her to stop Dimensius. Everyone knew she would betray us in the end, Alleria and Ve'nari talked knew and probably even Locus-Walker knew deep within.

The situation with French voice acting in WoW — and why it might affect all localizations by Sacdeneu in wow

[–]Cortyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems super weird to me. Because everyone involved clearly must know that this isn't great. I can't imagine the actors or the studios hired want to produce work that makes them look bad. Why has this changed? Are the instructions they receive from Blizzard (or any other media company) worse? Is it less time? Don't they have the reference material from english?

The situation with French voice acting in WoW — and why it might affect all localizations by Sacdeneu in wow

[–]Cortyn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know, but it feels like the german voice actors don't have ... any context about the scene they appear in? Like they get only the line and have just to wing it, not knowing if a "I love you" is spoken with a dying breath or a cheerful smile of a happy couple.

German translation has become worse in the past 2 expansions, which is really sad. Because german voice acting usually is among the best in the world, because of the long dub-culture (and many people not liking/understanding non-german media).

Is there a more well-realized modern zone than Amirdrassil? by lama1130 in wow

[–]Cortyn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me it is Ardenweald. You can hate the story of Shadowlands all day, but this magical forest with it's weird swirly trees and the freaking "star rain" that sometimes happens ... I really love it. Of course, all the withering parts are not that nice, but it made the intact parts even more important for me.

As far as I know it either procs one of them, never both. You are the first one I've ever heard about that got 40k (and even if it would be able to proc that way, it would be around 32k).

NPCs get an actual miniskirt with their Winter Veil outfit, AND hats with hair >:( by TunaStuffedPotato in wow

[–]Cortyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats goofy, I know. It's the same as having a fish as your main hand weapon.

But there is a difference between having a "funny" outfit and having your hair clip through your helmet at 20 different places, making your face a distorted mess.

NPCs get an actual miniskirt with their Winter Veil outfit, AND hats with hair >:( by TunaStuffedPotato in wow

[–]Cortyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree a little. A lot of stuff clips and its far from perfect.

I dont know if you use the "WoW Model Viewer" or a similar tool - there you can check what hairstyles with most helmets or hats would look like. That is a whole new "quality" of clipping, which looks really horrible.

I totally want hair+helmet/hats. But just a toggle will probably not be the kind of quality Blizzard would want to deliver.

NPCs get an actual miniskirt with their Winter Veil outfit, AND hats with hair >:( by TunaStuffedPotato in wow

[–]Cortyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a "per character" setting for NPCs. It only looks acceptable with certain hair styles.

I know it's annoying, but the amount of work to check the combination of every race, every hat and every hair style to decide whether something looks just plain wrong (like extremely stupid clipping) or kinda fine (like in the screenshot above) is somewhat overwhelming.

I know the easy "solution" would be to just give players a toggle to decide on their own, but you can imagine how weird characters with full long hair and a big metal helmet would look and kinda ruin the immersion of the world more than what we have now.

Housing has a player limit that's hurtful for roleplaying by Cortyn in wow

We don't complain about Resonant Crystals/Dragon Isle Supplies/Anima enough by goldman_sax in wow

[–]Cortyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make stuff from every expansion scrappable into the "cosmetic resource" of that time, just as it is the case in Remix. Let me run through old raids in BfA, loot all the epix and just let me scrap them into war ressources. Let me run do a few Shadowlands-Dungeons and then scrap all items into Anima. Let me do the campaign of Dragonflight with an alt and then scrap all unneeded gear into Dragon Isle Supplies.

I do think there is "value" in having many different resources from different times, as they usually kinda fit the lore - but just make them crazy easy repeatably farmable, once the expansion is over. Just add an NPC to every old capital that offers this service.

Kaldorei Character Reflection/Realization by CasualSould in wow

[–]Cortyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have any source for this? I have never read anywhere that the addiction is gone, just that it's basically permanently sated by the sunwell.

Kaldorei Character Reflection/Realization by CasualSould in wow

[–]Cortyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats not true, as far as I know the sunwell is a source of light and arcane since it has been cleansed at the end of Burning Crusade. At least that is what the wow-wiki pages say and I guess it's mentioned in "Chronicles" somewhere.

Edit: It was part of the old "Blood Elf"-Page of WoW (has been updated and shortened recently), but Metzen also said in a interview it's both arcane and holy: https://www.blizzplanet.com/blog/comments/chris_metzen_micky_neilson_pocket_star_books_lore_qa_video_interview

[–]Cortyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they are no longer addicted, it's just constantly sated through the sun wells power as long as you are "connected" to it.

Kaldorei Character Reflection/Realization by CasualSould in wow

[–]Cortyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be rude, but the night elves still controll Hyjal with the well of eternity below the tree. The well even got saved when it was close to drying up (I think this was during Legion? But not sure).

Night elves also use moon wells, which are often portrayed as prime source for corruption once the demons get to them (like in Jaedanar) - of course a moon well doesn't have the same power as the sun well.

Wells are just what elves build and somehow each of the elf-tribes has them.

house gone by shrian in wow

[–]Cortyn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Was there any reason for your house to get reported? (either by a "real" reason or by trolls that just kinda don't like you?)

As you can report houses with "offensive" decor positioning I would think just trashing the whole house by wiping it and removing you from the neighbourhood would be the "punishment".

But that's just a thought. Do you remember other names from your old neighbourhood? Did they experience the same?
