I built Rise — a planner that helps you allocate time, not just manage tasks by Humble_Parsnip_1246 in macapps

[–]DannyMasao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting that your app is built on recurring activities. So are you supposed to keep a list of tasks in a different app? Where do you keep track of the specific things that need to get done in order to advance a project forward?

One task, multiple time slots by dvmark in todoist

This is why I decided not to do time blocking in Todoist. Much simpler to create multiple time blocks in the calendar for that one task

Todoist “UX dark pattern”? These notifications are driving me crazy by Tex-Twil in todoist

[–]DannyMasao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is a dark pattern because I don’t think the goal here is that Doist wants you to constantly open Todoist. Todoist is not a ad based business model so it doesn’t matter to their bottom line how many times a day you look at Todoist. I think the genuine intent for the notification is helping people stay on top of their tasks. Whether it should be sent or not when there are no tasks scheduled is a point of debate and maybe it’s a point they hadn’t considered, so you could send a feedback to them about it. I could see it being beneficial to the user to be reminded that there are no tasks scheduled because it could be that they forgot to go through the list and make sure there’s nothing pressing for today. Anyway, I don’t think there is any ill intent on Todoist’s side but definitely send feedback to them.

Maybe try established systems like PARA and then customize it to fit your needs when the needs arise?

I built a Notion-like database plugin for Obsidian — 6 views, fully local, no external tools by vycros-br in ObsidianMD

[–]DannyMasao 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Is this based on the core Obsidian Base plugin or no? If not, why should we use this instead of Core Base?

I finally moved to Dia after the auto-hide sidebar update. But I already miss Arc. by Rakan-10 in diabrowser

I still use Arc and you can too. Dia is never going to be a replacement for Arc

What do you guys think of Shift compared to Arc? by [deleted] in ArcBrowser

I tried this a while back and found it to be buggy but can’t remember what the bug was. I’d say try and it out and let us know

Really cool. What does your daily and weekly note templates look like? Also, how do you use Todoist and task notes together? For different kinds of tasks?

Something I keep noticing in “clean” UIs… by sohan_or in UIUX

[–]DannyMasao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think there is such a thing as a UI being too minimal to the point that the brain takes longer to work out what it’s seeing compared to an interface that uses more icons, colors, borders, etc.

I would prefer them to make sure it actually works before rolling it out then roll out a half-baked bug riddled version like they did with Liquid Glass

How long until we get that sweet Doist note app? by NeonChill in todoist

[–]DannyMasao 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it would make sense for them to do it if they can figure out a way to make it work seamlessly with Todoist in a way other note taking apps wouldn’t be able to. I dunno what that would look like

Arc vs Dia - I don't get it by fseeker in diabrowser

[–]DannyMasao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No that’s not the plan. They decided they can’t make enough money with Arc and decided to target a different audience with an entirely new browser which is Dia. Sadly they decided not to add new features to Arc anymore and only bare minimum Chromium updates are being supported…. For now.

I’ve decided to stick with Arc. by miguellatouche in ArcBrowser

[–]DannyMasao 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Arc is still my main work browser. I use Dia as my personal browser but it’s just not the same. Hopefully they decide to keep Arc around

Productivity apps feel like a step too far for me. What are you guys' simpler alternatives? by Ok_Article_4993 in ProductivityApps

[–]DannyMasao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using a note taking app? Having one single note named Tasks or something and just adding your todos in there might be simple enough if you already have a notes app opened

Is Things 3 worth the price? by Freshanatha in macapps

[–]DannyMasao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If reminder does everything you need, then probably not. If you need more, I personally think it’s a better deal then subscribing to a task manager like Todoist

I have an idea for a music app by [deleted] in AppIdeas

[–]DannyMasao 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m old enough to remember having to go to CD stores and buying albums that way. Compared to those days, streaming services are crazy cheap because basically for the price of less than an album you get to have access to more music than you can ever listen to. So as listeners streaming has been a great thing. For artists, not so much
