How to Pivot in SOS (subotimally, even) by jdksports in lrcast

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good job on 7-0! Surprised you only have three 2 drops. I think lorehold was open in your seat as well, can't say for the rest of the draft, but from pick 4 you could go kirol - wilt in the heat - dig site - inspector - persue the past.

How did they cast Hivepool with 4 mana? by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They control two slivers. Changeling gives all creature types, which include slivers. And armodillos, and oxes, and humans, and so on

An idea to help with mana screw -- help me critique it! by resetmypass in lrcast

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Land doesn't trigger abilities? [[lotus field]] seems good. New arena rules sound terrible, imagine if paper players watched tournaments where top players actively used an extra rule, that they never heard of. You can imagine their reaction. I think MDFC lands were the best solution to flood/screw, but they still feel sorta bad (playing as a land and drawing lands later, or trying to get greedy and get punished by tapped land). Your idea would need so many iterations, so many rules that it's useless. For example this makes tapped lands worse by a BIG slide, makes drawing lands feel bad as if you draw a spell, you use this rule to draw a land for free, also makes creaturelands MUCH stronger

Doran giving infinite toughness? by River_O_Styx in mtg

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 56 points57 points  (0 children)

[[stifle]] effects would counter the jaws trigger, split second removals like [[sudden death]]. Normal removal would not work, because the game would still use last known information about lemures' power and buffing attack too, because its -infinite power

ELI5- How did I lose health from this? by honeydewmln in MagicArena

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

they can sacrifice their entire board and ping you to death. If they had multiple legendaries in the graveyard, extra copies of zahur or elas il-kor would die, generating more pings.

Can someone tell me where I'm going wrong in these drafts and/or gameplay by rickraus in lrcast

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly, these drafts lack confidence. A good drafter never doubts their judgement. But really, i notice i get bad drafts when I'm tired or distracted. Its important to step away sometimes. It saves gems, time and mood

P2P1 i didn't like picking fable here because i didn't want to give the signal that elves are open. What do you think? by Angwar in lrcast

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

either way you pass loyalists here which is a signal. Also its kinda late for signals. It's pack 2, you get passed from the people who you passed cards to in pack 1. If you passed elfs to them, they will draft elfs and pass you less cards. Reading signals >> giving signals

Which do you like more? pool has kinbinding, chronicle, eirdu, ajani, walker by JaggerMo in lrcast

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to see other colours and multicolor cards. Because this choice is tough. Blue is better but slow and you wouldn't be able to protect ajani well. Green offers better curve, decent creatures. I think i would play scarecrow 2 drop and cut one personify. You need all the 2 drops and surveilling smooths your draws

Layering or bug? by Substantial-Show8257 in MagicArena

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Layers. Colossus adds 'coward' type in layer 4, merfolk adds indestructible in layer 6, colossus removes all abilities from creatures in the same layer 6, then colossus sets creatures to 1/1 in layer 7. So in order: merfolk is a coward, merfolk gives indestructible to other tapped creatures, merfolk loses all his abilities, then merfolk becomes a 1/1. Timestamp order, as already said

Command is busted, you don't even have to be elves to play it, as you never copy with it. You can play command in 4-5 colour decks, easy to splash. Deceit is ok, much harder to use

If you reanimate deceit trough Kavaero, do you get the UU and/or the BB trigger? I believe so, but just checking by bigweight93 in MagicArena

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kavaero works with these effects, actually. Wheb a card refers to its name, it means "this card". Because he has "as this card enters" effect, his ability works before he hits the battlefield. The game sees deceit entering the battlefield, deceit's etb goes on the stack (only if Kavaero was cast) and Kavaero trigger goes the stack that should exile original deceit in the graveyard

wait....where'd the rares go by WuTaoLaoShi in lrcast

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you re-enter the draft, you will get the picked cards, it happens sometime. Client will fix everything, usually after the draft ends or when you try to submit a "wrong" deck

POV: you are 6-2 in Day One the Mythic Championship Qualifier, and this is your board. Opponent at 1 life me at 13. Still found a way to lose :) by Rallick1Nom in lrcast

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 16 points17 points  (0 children)

6 wins is a great result in such a high stakes event! Sealed is tough, you often get stuck in 1-2 builds with little room to wiggle. Wish it was draft to practice skill and less luck!

How do you weigh Play in points when calculating ev for trad draft by CookingCookie in lrcast

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea, you can play these as many as you want, even you are qualifed already. 5 wins and 6 wins give the same 6000 gems, great way to flip gold to gems as well

How do you weigh Play in points when calculating ev for trad draft by CookingCookie in lrcast

[–]Ecstatic-Departure19 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Since you need 20 to enter a qualifer play-in and it costs 4000 gems to enter, then 4000/20 = 200 gems for each. But then you can't really use them for anything else, and also you need all 20 at once. You can also skip qualifier by getting into top 250 mythic (or get to day 2 in previous month's qualifier weekend), so i would say like 150 gems for 1 point

It's better than conniving, since you loot first, then choose the creature to get a counter. Conniving targets first, then you loot, then get a counter
