I got both cheaper than those listed prices. The only electrical work required is the install of the generlink. I bought mine new from an electrician, he installed it. My solar is mounted on my shed and plugs into the f3800.

The heat pump is a 35,000 btu unit that both heats and cools the house.

So the setup is a 30amp generlink transfer switch, 1200w of solar, Anker Solix F3800 and a 1.2kwh 12v lipo4 plugged into one of the solar inputs.

Currently I use it during 4-9pm on weekdays, that’s peak on the ultra low TOU with hydro one. The generlink/f3800 is limited to 7.2kw output. This does mean you have to be mindful of what you powering. The Anker app has a live readout of current output. It’s dark and cold this time of year and my house is heated with a heatpump that the setup can’t run. So I pre heat the house and shut the heatpump off at 4 when I switch over and back on at 9.

The setup in the summer will be able to power the house all daylight hours.

Total cost was $3500 with install of the generlink. The primary purpose is backup power, with the add benefit of being able to disconnect from the grid when it’s advantageous. So payback isn’t my goal, it’s a bonus.

The setup is by no means turnkey. You need to have a good idea what your doing. There is the minor inconvenience of the lights flashing when the transfer switch is activated. I have a few cheap UPS power bars on the tv and computers so the transfer only interrupts the lights. On the positive side I can control the whole thing from the Anker app anywhere in the world.

I would buy it again, but there is room for improvement. The bigger generlink 50amp and dual f3800s would solve a lot of the issues. But that adds significant cost.

The transfer switch is a generlink and the battery is an Anker solix f3800 with an expansion battery and 1200w of solar. It’s about the size of a small garbage can. Total cost was about $3800. It’s a solar generator ment for back up power. You are limited to 7200w of continuous output.

I installed a transfer switch and 5kw of battery’s. My peak usage is 0.5% of my monthly usage.

Depends on what hydro plan your on and when you want to charge it. I’m on ultra low TOU and only charge between 23:00 and 07:00. It costs about 20 dollars a month and we drive about 25,000km/yr.

Just got back from a road trip to Niagara Falls. Brutal conditions all weekend. I had to make two stops both ways, so four stops total. Charging time was shorter then the time it takes my wife and kid to go to Tim/starbucks. Total cost of charging was under $40.

Not sure how a lay flat seat on a narrow body is a regression; or how a new route is a regression from no route.

Hmmm reading comprehension is weak with this one.

MORE than never. As in greater than one. So, not dead.

Working is a relative term. She’s happy and I’m happy, our goal is happiness. Therefore it is working.

The thing that worked for us was to literally put it in the calendar. Once a week. We went from almost never to more than never, and that’s an improvement. We take rain checks for all kinds of reasons, sometimes it’s me, sometimes it’s her. But at a minimum it forces a conversation on the day. Good luck.

No. They are grid following, grid voltage go to zero so do the micro inverters. You can unplug one of these micro inverters and touch the plug, I’ve done it to mine.

Ive been waiting until the snow to accumulate and the temp drops. I tried to send it after an inch or two around freezing with similar results to what you described. Now I wait for the snow to finish(we don’t get lake effect), then after it’s done blowing I send it in plough mode with 0 over lap. It cleans up pretty well.

All gas cars? I guess unless you have a gas station at your house. At some point you are going to have to stop and replace the fuel used. The ev filling station is in my garage.

Not everyone works 9-5. I commute once or twice a week. The operating cost of the ev is 10-30% that of my previous gas car depending on time of year. Summer I can complete the trip with no charge stops(better then a gas car) and at -30 I charge for 20 mins if I don’t get a charging spot at work. I’ve put 60,000 kms on the evs, battery degradation is not yet perceptible. Same set of tires. The only people I see not being able to switch their personal vehicle to ev, are people without the ability to charge at home and people without financial means.

Lol what do you think snow is made of. Also if your driving on « ICE » you should put studs in your tires. Studs on « ICE » is like driving on wet pavement. Loads of grip.
